I figure this is about as close as I'll get to Best today as far as keeping up with his prodigious blog posts. He's up to six, this makes five for me.
I have a significant Sunday package for the newspaper that I've got to get to work on, so he'll doubtless make up plenty of ground in the next few hours, because he's probably still in his basement blogging away in his jammies. But it's nice to be at least a little close.
btw, Skip Bayless of ESPN First Take had a great line about Trailblazers center Greg Oden, who is out for the season after undergoing knee surgery. "Greg Oden is 19 going on Fred Sanford."
Needless to say, Bayless believes that Oden will be a non-factor in the NBA. Can't say I disagree. A 19-year-old who needs microfracture surgery? Oh, boy.
... btw, Best doing a better job not posting gratuitous pictures of pretty women in his blog. Keep up the page views, though, so he doesn't feel the need be cheap and tawdry to keep up his burgeoning popularity.
Best got a kick of Mets announcer Howie Rose talking about Watchdog on the air the other night. Howie and I covered the Islanders during their Stanley Cup years. He was one of the most talented guys in the media back then, and he still is to this day. And a terrific human being, to boot.
