Collinsworth: Cut Tiki some slack

Interesting comments from former Bengals receiver Cris Collinsworth on Tiki Barber's outspoken comments about his former Giants coach and former teammates.

Collinsworth, who has ruffled a few feathers around the league over the years with his direct and often unflattering comments, says this about Tiki's rants about Tom Coughlin and QB Eli Manning:

"Would you prefer he says, 'You know, Tom Coughlin did an unbelievable job and my teammates are the best guys in the world?"' Collinsworth said. "All you would hear around the universe would be remotes going 'Click, click, click.' He's proven he's willing to say anything about anybody if it's what he truly believes. That's a pretty high standard, and I think he's crossed that threshold."

It should be noted that Collinsworth is now an NBC teammate of Barber's in the broadcast booth, so you wouldn't expect him to rip Barber for being critical of his ex-team. Then again, Collinsworth's track record is such that he wouldn't be saying something if he didn't truly believe it.

That is a garbage defense. The jury is out on how Tiki will air his views. To this point all he's done is continue to backstab and undermine the organization that paid him, the players that took the field with him. He took the knife out years ago. As Eli said, what are his views on the rest of the league? On Upshaw? Godell? He thought little of Strahan's previous "holdout", why no bashing this time around? Tiki is miles from establishing himself as a straight shooter.
