Boo of the week: Jets fans
Was thinking about anything I might have missed in coming up with categories for Week 1 games, and I realized I neglected to create one for something that happened at the Jets-Patriots game.
When Chad Pennington's right ankle was crushed under the weight of Patriots defensive lineman Jarvis Green, Pennington tried walking it off, then fell to the turf, got up again, fell down and finally hopped off on his left leg. Forget the fact that he was a football player, but just the fact that he was a human being in pain should have elicited at least some sympathy.
Evidently, not from thousands of Jets fans who stood and cheered as Pennington hobbled off the field and Kellen Clemens came on in relief.
To every fan who cheered, shame on you. Pennington has given every ounce of himself to the Jets, and while he isn't the perfect quarterback - who is? - he has done enough for this organization to deserve better than that.
So from now on, we'll create our "Boo of the week" category. This one's for all the knucklehead Jets fans who didn't have a clue yesterday afternoon.

I hope you will accept our apology Chad for the idiots who cheered when you got hurt. You are a class act, and have done nothing but put the team first since you got here. I wish you a speedy recovery and 4 TD performance next game so that the boo birds will realize what a gem we have in you!
Hey, he might have given all he has, but we have a better QB now that deserves a break. Clemens can put some zip on the ball - give him a chance to get some experience. At least he can throw downfield.
Its not fair that the fans booed. Chad has been great.
