Yes, Neil Best, I am insanely jealous

Holy cow.

Three months into his career as a blogger, and Neil Best is interviewed by TheBigLead.com

Frankly, I didn't know Best had that many words rattling around in his head. For a guy who can be breathtakingly succinct in the paper, he has diarrhea of the brain. And a deceptively massive ego to boot. Then again, he's a guy who now spends most of his time in the basement in his jammies trying to think up interesting stuff for anyone goofing off at work looking to take a break.

I still love the guy, though, and he's one of my best friends, so I can't begrudge him his newfound fame. (Then again, I do notice that I have no problem linking to his blog, while he refuses to return the favor. And Best never has given me the credit for getting him off his lazy butt to do a blog in the first place, has he?)

And if you notice in one of the comments at the end of his hopelessly long and overstated interview, there's a comment from a reader who enjoys the Best-Glauber competition in blog hits.

Here's the comment:

"I’ve been a fan of Neil’s for more than a few years, having followed him on the Giants’ beat and his stint on the fantastic “Giants Online” show, which is now going to be reduced to an afterthought, but that’s neither here nor there. Hopefully, he’ll continue to promote his rivalry with Glauber as to who gets more hits on his respective blog.

Having said that, Newsday’s blogs are being used exactly in the way I figured newspaper-related blogs should be used: to update breaking news that cannot wait for the publication of the next day’s paper. Great job by them."

And kudos to TBL for a good interview.

In the end, I fear I will fall hopelessly and embarrassingly short in the pursuit of blog hits - especially with Best posting every salacious picture of beautiful women he can - but I will compete nonetheless. And have fun trying, since that's really what blogs are all about ... I think.

I will thus be reduced by my participation in the ham & egg video you will see posted on this site in a day or two. Out here at Jets camp joined by hard-working fellow Newsday.com dudes Adam Abramson and Mark LaMonica, who write, produce, film and edit the NTV production. Tom Rock stood by to get some TV tips, but ended up ripping me in his own blog.

I hope Best will remember me when he becomes famous.

At least you had Cold Pizza.

You're right, Tommy P. Thanks for reminding me. Neil Best has nothing on Cold Pizza!

So basically I gave you three consecutive items: Your opus about me, and the two Tiki quotes from Sirius. You're welcome! Neil

What do you mean "when" I become famous.

And one other thing . . . Wasn't it Mrs. Best who convinced you to do "Cold Pizza?"

A little touchy, aren't we, Neil?

Thanks for Tiki items.

And thank Mrs. Best once again.

You're welcome!
Thanks for plugging Mr. B's blog. If he didn't make it clear, he appreciates it!

Hey you are famous. I see you on Cold Pizza (First Take) all the time.

What did you say your name was again??
