What about Bob?

It's a little tough finding this nugget from today's Newsday on our website, so I thought I'd post it here, too.

I met with Donovan McNabb yesterday at Eagles training camp in Bethlehem, Pa., and asked about his thoughts on Michael Strahan's do-I-play, do-I-retire dilemma. He had some interesting things to say:

McNabb would probably benefit if Strahan decided to retire from the NFL. After all, Strahan has recorded more sacks - 20 1/2 of his 132 1/2 - against the Eagles than any other opponent.

But the Eagles quarterback doesn’t want to see Strahan pack it in.

“It wouldn’t be the same competing against Big Blue without seeing 92 in there,” McNabb said yesterday. “If he played, you know I would probably be on my back, although I don’t think [Eagles tackle Jon] Runyon would allow that because they’ve had their ongoing battles.”

McNabb said he has spoken to Strahan, and that the two remain good friends. He therefore urges anyone passing judgment on Strahan’s indecision to consider the circumstances carefully.

“In this situation, it’s important that people look at both sides,” he said. “I think in any situation as a player that you contemplate retirement that you don’t want to step into the game for any other reason but love for the game. Obviously, the organization has supported him and they understand that it’s a tough decision for him.”
