Finally, something other than contempt for Michael Vick

It's been a long time since we've had occasion to feel anything other than contempt and anger toward Michael Vick, and surely those feelings won't disappear any time soon.

But after Vick showed some contrition just a few minutes ago for his horrible actions in connection with an illegal dogfighting operation, we saw a man who finally owned up to his barbaric behavior.

As Vick walked to the podium at a news conference in Richmond, Va. late this morning, he carried a piece of paper in hand, and we expected him to simply read a statement and walk off. But as he spoke quietly and explained that he isn't very good at public speaking, he said he'd talk from the heart. And he did just that, never once looking at the paper.

"I want to apologize for all the things I've done and I've allowed to happen," Vick said, a few mintues after formally pleading guilty to charges connected to an illegal dogfighting operation. "I want to personally apologize to commissioner Goodell, Arthur Blank, coach Bobby Petrino, my Atlanta Falcons teammates for our previous discussions that we had and I was not honest and forthright in our discussions. I was ashamed and totally disappointed in myself, to say the least.

"I want to apologize to all the young kids out there for my immature acts," he said. "I totally ask for forgiveness and understanding as I move forward to better Michael Vick the person, not the football player."

We'll fill you in on more Vick's comments in tomorrow's Newsday, but it was noteworthy that after all the chaos and criticism surrounding his situation - all of it justified - Vick showed his human side. It doesn't excuse anything, and it won't keep him out of jail or get him back to the NFL any sooner. But at least we saw that a man who admitted guilt to some of the most heinous actions imaginable show contrition.

We'll see how he feels after spending several months in prison. Hopefully by then, we will see a man who has genuinely transformed himself and can do some good in this world after so many years of doing harm.

It's very easy to stand up and deliver a rehearsed statement without taking questions or otherwise allowing contrary dialogue. It appeared as if he was actually trying to stop from smiling at several points, especially early on. A nervous smile *perhaps* but that, combined with the obviously scripted "talk from the heart" and outrageous lines like "I've turned my life over to Jesus," ring disingenuous from a guy that just a few months ago was delighting in hanging, drowning, electrocuting and body slamming dogs to their deaths. But after lying for months, he now wants us to believe him. The "immature" theme of his remarks was equally offensive. Clearly he and his PR counsel are trying to write this whole thing off as a "youthful indiscretion." I wouldn't describe the act of hanging eight dogs from trees in his backyard, then stepping back to watch them choke and die as "immature" -- I'd call it perverse, barbaric and sadistic. Fake contrition and smoke screens such as the "immature" defense will cause the public to dislike him even more. Fact is, he clearly liked the torture. Six years of gambling, lies, torture and killing aren't magically purged from the soul of someone as evil as Vick from simply delivering a four-minute, one-sided chat. Lifetime NFL ban.

Bob:

Killing innocent animals is NOT an immature act, it is an evil one. His "speaking from the heart" was impossible because the guy doesn't possess one. Please!!!

His first apology was to Goodell because he wants to get back into the league, but zero apologies for the dogs that he sadistically tortured and killed. Like his Mom said "for what?" They don't truly beleive that he has done anything wrong - they are simply sorry that he got caught and can't continue his evil operations that he ran for 6 years.

Of course, he had remorse because he got caught! I am sure Billie Martin wrote his speech.............. He makes me sick..................

to Den:

calm down a bit and be a little less biased and be a bit more objective. Clearly you're against all of the situation, really, who isn't? But where do you get off trying to say that he "clearly liked the torture" or how how he would step back to watch the dogs being hanged? Yes, I'm sure he was told by his counsel what things he should and should not say, obviously that's the case, but perhaps he does feel a little guilty (be it from being caught and facing 5 years, or legitimate feelings). Maybe dog fighting and everything else surrounded by this case cannot be justified by claiming it to be "immature," or even a lapse in judgement, but to call him evil and sit back from an internet site (I'd be curious, are you providing efforts to support Humane Society's or PETA or any animal welfare programme?) seems slightly immature to me.

And for the record, I'm not supporting Vick, or his actions in any regards. I just disagree with people looking to create the world's biggest villain out of Vick when there is so much worse, and so much other wrong in the world.

Sorry, but Vick didn't "own up" to anything. He pled guilty because he had no other real choice. That doesn't mean he is contrite or regretful about anything except that his career has been ruined by his reprehensible actions along with his friends over a period of years. I hope we never hear about Vick again. If anything good can come out of this, it will be that the public understands that dogfighting exists in many areas of this country and that communities that have accepted dogfighting will no longer do so.

Hey, maybe now we can get our vice president to show some contrition for all those dead quails he kills with buckshot. What about all those good ole American hunters who shoot and kill innocent Animals for sport. Hunting, like dogfighting, is a Blood Sport too. Where's the outrage there.

The only thing he’s sorry about, is sorry he got CAUGHT. Found Jesus? What a crock. If his precious thug homeys wouldn’t have gotten caught for drugs, he’d still be torturing dogs. He lied right in his speech this morning. He pointed the finger at EVERYONE else but himself in the beginning! And to say he never bet on any? Puleez. Does he think people are stupid enough to believe that? If he wasn’t betting on them, why be involved? For the blood and guts? For the yelps of pain, the electrocution? Maybe he just got off on beating the dogs. What a sadistic, pathetic piece of trash.

And to Den, just because, as you write, "there is so much worse, and so much other wrong in the world," that does not minimize what Vick and his friends have done. That just means that those wrongs in the world also need attention, not that this does not merit the attention it has gotten.

When a Bad Newz Kennell dog refused to fight it was hanged, drowned, or burned alive. The coward who ran the operation, in a pathetic attempt to save his career and fortune, despite having the best lawyers money could buy and unlimited financial resources to fight the charges just rolled over on his back. The coward will have a better fate than his victoms. But no one will ever believe a carefully rehersed word this fool says. Billy Martin and a battalion of PR specialists can't save him. He won't be forgiven. He's finished as an NFL football player. He should keep his mouth shut and just go away.

He is very sorry. What he did was wrong. Bottom Line: He should be forgiven and go on.

And to Cody, hunting is legal, whether one agrees with that or not. Make it illegal and I would have no problem with prosecuting hunters. Dogfighting is not only illegal, but a felony in virtually all of this country.

Michael Vick only copped a plea when his accomplices rolled over on him.How hard is it to change a plea to guilty AFTER he knew his cohorts copped a plea deal and were going to spill the beans. I hope he gets 5yrs. and then finds himself working at Mickey D's for 5 bucks an hour.

While I definitely dont condone what he did, I think it's a stretch to call it some of the most heinous crimes imaginable. This might be a correct satatement if these were humans he was doing this too, but I can think of numerous crimes against humanity that are far more heinous.

His speech was memorized over the weekend, but attempts were made so it looked unscripted and unrehearsed. He found God? Give me a break. Just a couple weeks ago, he was professing his innocence and vowed to clear his name. What a POS. He never apologized for executing man's best friend. Did he show remorse for doing that? Nope. His transparent speech was not believable.
He's only concerned for himself. I would never trust him again.

Legal or not, people aren't up-in-arms concerning him violating a felony. People are upset that he was involved in dog-fighting. I agree entirely with Cody on his view. Is it that he's a superstar athlete that brings out the bias too? Is it just because it makes this story all that much more juicy? He'll face the same charges that anyone else caught for dog-fighting will face, he isn't above the law so why put so much effort into bashing him when you can go do something positive in your own community, be it involved with animals or not. Small acts of positive will make the world better, bitching about Michael Vick probably won't.

michael vick apologized. get over it. we aren't that sympathetic when it comes to kids being abused.
give him a fine and let's play ball.

Cody...
There’s a reason hunting is legal. If it wasn’t legal, there’d be millions of wild animals in this country dying of starvation, disease, vehicle accidents, younameit. They need to be controlled because WE’RE encroaching on their territory. You don’t want any hunting at all… maybe you should give up all your own creature comforts and go live in a tent, communing with nature. If not, quit complaining. Dogfighting is illegal for a reason.

hahaha, terrible rebuttle to Cody Luchiaan, just terrible.

Judy says: "But where do you get off trying to say that he "clearly liked the torture" Well, Judy, why didn't he simply put a bullet in the heads of dogs he didn't like and spare them the pain and suffering? Because he clearly enjoyed the torture and killing. Why do it otherwise? What kind of evil lurks inside of a guy who gets his jollies holding a dog's head under water while it kicks, struggles to survive and drowns? That's the great Mike Vick. Who would think to hose down a dog to get it wet, then electocute it? Who would body slam a dog over and over to ground to kill it? Fortunately his fake contrition is not playing well. An ESPN poll of 10,000 shows that 64 percent say there opinion of Vick is unchanged after seeing his remarks. 12 percent say they actually have a more unfavorable opinion of him. Only 22 percent say they have a more favorable opinion of this monster. Lifetime NFL ban.

Luchiaan....get it straight. I didn't write the quote you cited. Vick is pure evil, regardless of what else is going on in the world.

Luchiaan,

Hunting is legal because men like to shoot guns and kill animals - not because they are "doing good works and keeping wild animals from dying an ugly death". Hunting is FUN for them. OK. If we really wanted to keep the animal (i.e. deer) population under control, we wouldn't kill off all the predators (like wolves and wildcats). The only thing that makes hunting any better than dogfighting is that generally, the animal does not suffer months of abuse, starvation and torture prior to being exterminated. And your line about giving up creature comforts and living is a tent is lame. We should be living in small houses, with small yards rather than 4,000 sq feet on half and acrea. THAT will help us from encroaching on their land.

Still, I don't remember in his statement him saying "I enjoyed and liked the torture." Moreover, I also don't remember him expressing getting any "jollies" from these acts either. Smells like speculation and bias to me Den :)

As soon as u people , a lot of u who from watching media coverage and jus life's observation, i gather are white, as soon as u get a chance to persecute a BLACK MAN u jump all over it, and kick him/her to the dirt cuz u cant get to do it legally no more. But u know what dont care what u all try it nar go work, so stamp that in your thick skulls u racist pigs. It's always a one sided media coverage when it come to BLACK PEOPLE, u can trick who u can but u not going to trick the most of us. DOGS ARE DOGS not HUMANS, Michael Vick aint kill, shoot, injure nobody, if dog fighting was something u white people like, the way u like hunting so many other animals, dog fighting would've been legal, the sameway cigarrette is legal and weed is not. THE WHITE MEDIA and those brothers who sell out and follow u all cannot stop, fool,or deter the progress of BLACKS, we went through hell fire and brimestone, so the struggle continues.

Aint everybody got DOGS up in their house shitting up the place and treating them better than people. Not that we dont take care of our pets, cuz they are special also, but WTF they are what they are.

Michael Vick should not be treated the way he is being treated, because he is only being treated this way because he is BLACK, PERIOD. He is a human being like all of us and has made mistakes. Dog fighting is illegal as per the laws of the White Man, in White America, unfortunately aint all in America dat sensitive to Dogs and have them in our house and all kinds of things. Aint no reason Michael Vick should not play in the NFL and make a living for himself. Lawyers, Doctors, politicians and the list goes on make their mistakes with the law and still making their living. Full time the Mental Slavery dun

Expressing remorse is something Vick had the chance to do along time ago. Vick "found" a conscience now when he realized it was in his own best interest. He is sorry for one thing and that is that he got caught point blank. Let's be honest he did not have some sort of ephiphany where he now realizes what he did was wrong. Did I miss the part where Vick offered to pay for the care of those abused dogs that where taken off his property or the various other pit bull rescue and education funds?

The ONLY way to view Michael Vick IS with contempt.

I just watched Vick’s “performance” on TV in which he apologized for his actions and I am now faced with mopping up the remains of my breakfast which I spewed all over the floor.

NOT ONCE in Vick’s poorly constructed and embarrassingly presented (Vick can barely put together a sentence) monologue did he directly mention the poor dogs he tortured and killed. Not once did Vick apologize to these living beings for snuffing out their lives. Instead Vick apologized to the commissioner, his former team-mates, and the kids (attention America’s youth: Vick is a perfect example of what human scum looks like).

Translation: Vick is too stupid to understand the true scope of what he did. He is incapable of understanding that animals feel pain and experience fear. More than anyone else Vick should have apologized to the animals, the reason he didn’t is because he does not feel anything for animals (this much should be obvious, he took pleasure is seeing animals suffering).

Oh and we must not overlook how truly touching it is that Vick found Jesus, r-i-i-g-h-t. Well Mr. Vick, I sincerely hope that you do find Jesus, and may he be a 280 lb, fellow inmate that you meet in the prison showers just after you drop the soap…

Vick also commented that his actions were immature. IMMATURE?!? No Vick, your actions were not immature, more like cruel and despicable, the actions of a sub-human degenerate.

And don’t forget for one second, the ONLY reason Vick is apologizing is because he was caught red-handed (the red = blood on his hands that can NEVER be washed away).

Michael Vick IS a despicable, cruel, pathetic, worthless human being, a true waste of human skin.

Last week, someone on this site said that Vick should be castrated to get rid of "the tainted strain.
Hmmm, I wonder what he meant by that? I think I know, but I don't want to bring that topic into this discussion. Let me just say that since we were all conceived in sin and born in iniquity, as the Bible said, that NOT ONE OF US IS IN A POSITION TO SIT IN JUDGEMENT OF ANY MAN. No matter what sentence Vick gets, the only judgement that really counts is the punishment that will be levied by God, and ALL of us will be subject to that. I hope that every one of you who is sitting in judgement of Vick realizes that you are heaping coals upon your own heads and that your hateful feelings and words will be recorded in the Book of Life, by which we will be judged when Christ comes again.
Women and children are being abused everyday all across America, and I have never seen such a furor raised about their abuse. It makes me wonder if some people value the lives of dogs more than they do the lives of human beings. Judge Alex Rodriguez said on one of the Cable Stations that he had a case where a dog was abused and that he had received over 200 letters of outrage about the case, but had not received one letter from anyone about a baby who had been killed as a result of abuse. And how about the hundreds of murders being perpetrated everyday, many on innocent people? I don't see people across America demanding justice for these victims the way that they are in the Vick case. Let's face it, we don't have wings on our backs, and if we do they are tarnished in God's sight. So, why don't we just let the Judge make his ruling, let Vick take his punishment, get on with his life, and we get on with ours. If we all do that, we will have less to answer for when WE are being judged by the Most Supreme Judge of all.

So what the hell happened?

Did he torture the dogs or what? I think he did, but who can say for sure? Even with his confession. EXACTLY what did he do? With the way the law is so twisted no one knows what's what. OJ cut off someone's head. Now the dogs ... what's next? US soldiers raping a 14 year old girl and then killing her ... and then killing her entire family in Iraq ...?

Oh I forgot, that happened already ... Abeer Hamza ...

If Vick did this, he should be sent to Siberia.

I would like to see repentence and sanctification and restoration for him ... but at this rate what are the chances?

George Foreman changed his life. But at least he was honest and had a conversion experience. Vick seems defiant ... to say he's ashamed is the understatement of the year.

What a monster.

Where is his humanity? I would NEVER hurt an animal EVER under any condition.

Yet there is still hope ... always ...

Just because we've given up on someone doesn't mean God has. Everyone has a destiny for good or for evil as Lazlow said in the film Casablanca. To think otherwise would be wrong.

But again, we still don't know what happened?

Clearly Vick is a liar. Clearly he lives in some kind of non reality where video game violence becomes real.(II Timothy 3.) People in many cases are becoming worse than animals.

Clearly I won't be watching the NFL again. I don't want to sit around just waiting to be "entertained" by this person. With the never ending pantheon of criminals, rapists, murderers, tattoos, disgusting music and ads (as bad as the NBA almost), not to mention the just-below-the-surface anti-white hatred, what's the point anymore?

I live near an animal hospital and I see many black people bringing in their pets ... all decent people I think ... and they should now rally behind protecting animals.

There are white people who torture animals as well!

This whole Vick thing should not just be about taking cheap shots at black anarchy. There are many good and decent blacks. But where are they on this issue?

Or Channon Christian?

Or Abeer Hamza?

We've got to get things together before this country implodes. We are divided into racial and ethnic and cultural and economic groups, which seem to be based on political hatreds, and most of our news is either total lies from the networks (though some good reports, like the children from Iraqi expats being sold into sexual slavery to "men" from Saudi Arabia via Syria) or filtered through comedians.

What a joke.

Michael Vick clearly represents yet another low point in our nation's history.

Maybe Shaun Powell should write another column about all of this ... beyond the pseudo-reality he pointed out about postmodern black culture.

How do you turn into something less than human?

Maybe it's time to disband professional sports? But the way things are going in the world at large, they are probably on borrowed time, like everything else.

Ghandi was right, you measure a civilization based on how they treat their animals.

You can give a man a million dollars. But you cant make him a million dollar man. I see this more and more.I have worked hard all my life and to see some guy making millions of dollars for playing football? I had the pleasure of playing on a championship football team while in high school. It was a great feeling winning, but i never felt like i was bulletproof. They should have done more to promote his education than to promote his abilities.

If he cruely murdered the dogs that wouldn't fight or weren't contenders, what should be the punishment for Vick now that he's rolled on his back and gave up?

I blame the infrastructure of all sports for this sorry ordeal. Its all for money...they dont care as long as they make millions of dollars. I think the NFL should do the time... and Michael Vick should try to evolve.

Random and disjointed thoughts:
Wow Bob, you hit paydirt here.
Mindy, you are child like in your beliefs. I find that entertaining, thanks for the laughs.
Vick took his first step back towards the NFL. Goodell and Blank both took to today's remarks. I think a three year suspension just got shortened to two.
Antman, there are plenty of conditions under which an animal should be hurt. Eat them before they eat you.
Giant corners have been awful for a long, long time.

If you can yell questions at the President of the US how the press stand by and not send the real questions his way. What a sports press cake walk.

I found Jesus, lets play ball!

Glauber is way cooler than David Gregory.

Perhaps some attorney out there could enlighten me and tell me if there was somebody other than Mr Vick that was indicted for dog fighting in the federal system in the United States, or if it's a black thing?

i believe that dogfighting is wrong in every way possible, but i think its stupid to not take action for people that hunt for sport either. if its "ok" to kill wild animals, why is it not to kill dogs.

think about that

When did this become a racist thing and who caused it to veer in this direction? There is no--I repeat--NO racism involved in this case.

I think Vick should be given a break for at least admitting that he had made a huge mistake and accepting responsibility for it, instead of pointing fingers and shifting blame. There is not enough of that in society today. He didn't blame the white man, and didn't come up with any excuse for his actions.

"Give him a break"
Give ME a break. The only reason he pleaded guilty was because he had no choice and it was part of the plea deal. A month ago he swore he was innocent. Do you really believe he had a change of heart during this past money. The only thing he is sorry for, is getting caught.

Vick didn't say he enjoyed torturing and executing animals? No, Mindy, he didn't say anything at all about what he did - what in God's name could anyone say to excuse such atrocities? I'd love to hear why you think he would go to the hard work of electrocution, hanging, body slamming and drowning helpless animals then. This man is as sick as they come, and one can only wonder what kind of people would defend such a horrible excuse for a human being.

I take everything Michael Vick is saying with a huge grain of salt. I'm sure that he's listening to the same news reports we are, which say that his behavior and willingness to accept responsibility will influence the judge during sentencing. So of course it's all about damage control, and everything that he's saying now has to do with self-preservation. I mean who isn't sorry after being caught?

It's not like the dog fighting was a small lapse in judgement, a quick mistake he made and instantly regretted. This is an ongoing activity. I would have respected him a lot more if he'd just admitted that he didn't have a lot of liking or compassion for animals. But that what has happened is causing him to re-evaluate and he does have remorse for his behavior. Not some "I've found God" claim, as if this adversity, caused by his own actions, is somehow for the good.

Since Michael Vick has "found Jesus" I hope Jesus turns his case over to St Francis of Assisi at judgement day!

I do find dog fighting and the sadistic torture deplorable... And not to diminish the horror of those acts, don't forget there was also betting involved. Even if Vick was betting on the jumping frog contest in Calaveras County, he could still be subject to a lifetime ban from the NFL. Vick is toast.

There are so many of you posting comments that aren't true like saying he burned dogs alive. That's not true and has never been said in this case. This is a horrible situation and nobody likes it. But the bottom line is that this country is built on the notion of Rehabilitation. If Vick pays his debts to society by serving his time and doing whatever his sentence asks of him - then there is no reason why he shouldn't be forgiven in the eyes of the law and allowed to live a normal life. This includes being able to play football. We have people who kill other PEOPLE and are allowed to go on to respectable and high paying jobs in our cities and counties every day. As an animal lover myself, I am saddened by this situation and by the abuse these animals suffered, not only by Vick and his camp, but by all abusers and dogfighters everywhere. However, dogfighting is not a crime worse than abusing children or killing people. The issue is that we have become desensitized to abuse and murder of our own people and have some how learned to deal with it with quiet acceptance when we see it on our news and read it in our papers every day. Because dogfighting is typically an underground operation, we don't have to focus on it every day and therefore it shocks us. We should be shocked at the number of PEOPLE killed each day for whatever reason. In 2000, 1,247 women, more than three a day, were killed by their intimate partners. One person commits suicide about every 40 seconds, one person is murdered every 60 seconds and one person dies in armed conflict every 100 seconds, according to the World Health Organization. This is an outrage as well and yet we aren't up in arms about this. We should be.

I believe what Michael Vick and his peers did was wrong - 100%. However, I also believe that he has admitted his faults - FOR WHATEVER REASON - and should be given the opportunity for retribution and rehabilitation. And our next step should be to donate our time, our money and our efforts to stop abuse against all living things - human and animals. Let's move beyond Michael Vick, the person and focus on the injustices everywhere so we can work to make sure these things don't continue to happen.

Reading some of the posts reminds me why humanity has established a legal system. Some of you are so subjective that its even scary to think some of you might be my neighbors. Why don't we just execute the guy? Don't answer lunatics its a rhetorical question.

I do not believe he should go to jail as he did not kill a human being. And yes I am an animal lover but dog fighting has been around for a long time and will continue to be unless someone sets up a task force to sweep through this whole nation. I lived in Georgia for years where dog fighting was out of control. When one was discovered all the dogs had to be put down as that was the only solution. Sad but true as those dogs have been treated badly by their owners and this cannot be undone.

I believe he should not lose his career just put it on hold for a while while he learns about animal creulty. The way for him to do this is spend the next few years working in animal shelters and donating some money to animal cruelty rescue orgazniations.

He may not realize to what extent he has done creulty to animals but with education he may.

He and all those who are caught doing this kind of cruetly to animals should spend time with animal rescue offices and see that this goes on day after day in many different areas of the country. This type of creulty has no racial barriers it is everywhere.

Then they can go to schools and educate kinds that it is not cool to own and mistreat these kinds of dogs. For that matter is is not cool to misterat any animals or humans.

I hope Michael Vick learns and is a better person.

Wow, I keep seeing people suggest that Vick be made to work in an animal shelter.

I would NEVER let him near any dogs in my care. How can you trust an animal abuser with dogs? Especially the "weak" ones that show up in shelters ... sad, dejected, lying about with those depressed faces.

It would not surprise me if he got into a bad mood and kicked them just for the release.

I will never understand hunting, fishing, zoos, circuses, animal parks, horse racing, OR dog-fighting. But I do think that dog-fighting is the worst because the torment is chronic ... bad lives, bad deaths.

The only thing Im a little surprized about in all of your comments is how you sit their and doubt a man's religion. If Vick says he found god in his life then thats between himn and God. How can you sit their as a man/woman and say that. In Gods eye you are no better than him for that very reason. Okay what he did was wrong and vile and hideous and all the evil things you can spit at him. But the man has apologized, and hopefully he completes his LONG journey to redemtion. This was only step one of many other steps he must take. People need to stop throwing stones and be happy that he is on track to recovery. Be happy that he got caught, and will serve his time and hopefully when he gets out he will choose the right path. I for one hope he does. Remember he is human, and nobody is perfect not even you.

It's amazing how much emphasis is placed on the dog fighting case of Michael Vick, when the practice has been part of the culture for years, and continues to be. Any type of practices such as this is distasteful, even though men were used at one point to satisfied the taste for blood sport. The comments regarding the death of these animals, the publicity and the outrage has been overwhelming. It saddens me that the same outrage, compassion and concern has not been generated by the execution style death of three young African American college students and wounding of another. Sadly, they have not received the news media's attention
as the sensationalism of the Michael Vick Case. Is concern about human lives, or is just these human lives, to be relegated lower than the dogs? Are does the case of Michael Vick satisfy some ancient ,
hidden psychosis to beat the hell out of one more monetary successful man. How impotent you must really be.
t

Give me a break you piece of sh**. He did not once talk about the cruelty he displayed on the poor dogs, dogs that could have ripped his stinking ass apart but were to loyal and just wondered why are they doing this to me. The Falconès coach is showing class and even he did not like this news conference. Every a***ole finds God at these times.
He was caught...plain and simple. That is why he found God. Send him and any puke who raises his hands on any human or animal away from society before they kill someone!!!!!

Paul, you are absolutely, and unbelievably, ridiculous. You should not be allowed to post your comments - aside from your unnecessary, crude diction, you don't present any valid points. Let those without sin cast the first stone. I assume that means neither you, nor I, will be casting a single stone. He was caught, he will be tried and convicted - like any other person, regardless of monetary status - and we should accept that and hope he has learnt from his lesson and can do better with his life, and those around him, in the future.

Excuse me, but how is it that a main is being hung on the cross for dog-fighting (which by the way is something that happens in the south alot more than you would think) and 1984 a senator KILLED A WOMAN and he is still in senate?? Does this make any sense to you??? He is a young man who was given LOTS AND LOTS of money in a short amount of time and told to grow up. He fought dogs, which is wrong but think of his situation where he came from and the environment that he grew up in. I believe that he was really sorry. Not like the other people who are making speeches now, reading word for word their papers that the lawyers and PR people came up for them.
