The Rays will call up pitcher David Price. He has pitched at Single-A, Double-A and Triple-A this season. He will pitch out of the bullpen. He could make a start in a doubleheader later this month.

The Cardinals have shut down Chris Carpenter after he made just one appearance out of the bullpen.

Evan Longoria will be in the lineup for Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Yankees Saturday.

Pedro Martinez had his start pushed back to Monday.

Todd Helton was activated from the DL.

Brandon Lyon had another horrible outing. He couldn't hold a 3-0 ninth-inning lead, allowing two runs and four hits before being removed in favor of Chad Qualls, who got the final out with the tying run on third. Pick up Qualls.
