Isringhausen back to closing

BY ADAM RONIS

Jason Isringhausen has finally regained his closer role. He will now get the save chances for the Cardinals and Ryan Franklin will go back to being a setup man. Izzy has been throwing well since returning from the DL, while Franklin has struggled.

I've had Chris Perez stashed away for a while now, I haven't needed the roster spot but it is getting closer to playoff time and it could become a factor. Do you see him getting his shot at closing this year or is he going to have to wait until next season, if then, to get some saves? I'm looking at trying to package him into an offer for someone that is looking towards next year already, but I'm intrigued by what he might be able to do.

I don't see him getting a shot this year. There's talk of Adam Wainwright possibly returning to the closer role. The Cardinals are in the race and could possibly acquire a closer with experience. He has an excellent fastball, but needs to get better control of a second pitch, especially his slider. I think he has an excellent chance to close next season. If you are looking at this year, then trade him if it helps you get a piece to help win a championship.
