Byrnes placed on DL
BY ADAM RONIS
The Diamondbacks placed outfielder Eric Byrnes on the 15-day DL with a sore hamstring. He is hitting .219 with six homers and 23 RBIs. Byrnes had a career year in a contract season last year and stole 50 bases inflating his value in drafts. He was a guy I advised to stay away from. He has four stolen bases. Outfielder Alex Romero was called up from Triple-A.

hey adam, in a 12 team mixed roto league, i'm thinking of trading away smoltz for oswalt. i have sherrill, fuentes, gregg and franklin as closers and webb, mcgowan, young, snell and owings as starting pitchers. i like smoltz, but think his health is a risk now. what do you think?
JD,
I think Smoltz is a major health risk, however, he could thrive in relief if his shoulder can withstand the work. A couple of your closers don't have great job security. I can't argue with trading Smoltz, but I'd look for someone else instead of Oswalt. I'm not high on him this season.
Should I trade Hudson for Wainwright? I don't have great pitching and I have Kelly Johnson.
If you can make that deal do it. Not sure that owner would do that. I'm high on Wainwright.
Are you higher on Wainwright or Greinke for the rest of the year?
JD,
I like both guys. There numbers are very similar. I don't think you go wrong with either one. I'd lead slightly towards Wainwright, but greinke is an excellent consolation prize, should you get him instead.
