Mariners closer situation

BY ADAM RONIS

Miguel Batista converted the save tonight in place of the injured J.J. Putz. Batista is the only pitcher on the Mariners with experience as a closer. He is slated to start on Saturday, so we can't read too much in it just yet. The Mariners will go with a closer by committee and Mark Lowe looks like the likely candidate to fill in, but he pitched the last two days. Sean Green and Eric O'Flaherty could also be options. It is possible that the Mariners decide to let Batista close until Putz returns. Stay tuned.

Ia Mark Lowe still the possible candidate, if you HAD to guess ?

Lowe is the favorite at this time.
