K-Rod out at least 3 days
BY ADAM RONIS
Angels closer Francisco Rodriguez had X-rays on his injured right ankle that revealed no damage. He will be out at least three days until MRI results are evaluated. Mike Scioscia said he will go with a closer by committee approach that means Scot Shields, Justin Speier and Darren Oliver will get the opportunities. Shields is coming off an injury, Speier blew a save by allowing a two-run homer to Travis Hafner last night and Oliver could come in against lefthanders. I'd give a slight edge to Shields if he is healthy.

This isn't on topic, but I wasn't sure where to post it. What are your thoughts on trading Webb and Zimmerman for Miggy Cabrera and Gallardo? My staff is solid otherwise (Smoltz, Young, D-Mac, Snell, Owings). Thoughts?
That's fine. You guys can post trade proposals here. If you really need the bat, I would do it. Cabrera will post big numbers. I think Zimmerman will have a good year and I love Webb. I do think Gallardo will be really good. I'd hesitate giving up Webb because Smoltz and Young are injury prone.
Thanks for the quick response. I don't really need the bat. I've got Molina, Teixeira, Aaron Hill, Zimm, Rollins, Markakis, Hart, Torii Hunter, and Francoeur on offense. And I agree that it makes my staff a little more shaky, which makes me want to turn it down. But Miggy is really tempting.
What type of league is this? Roto or head-to-head?
It's a 12 team mixed roto league.
I think I might do that deal, since I value offense more. You can always piece together a good pitching staff.
Shields threw 26 pitches today and allowed a run. I doubt they will use him on consecutive days too soon. Speier pitched two days in a row, but the Angels are off tomorrow. I don't think we can read into this yet. It looks like a committee.
How about Ortiz for Teixeira and Owings?
If you're getting Tex and Owings, I would absolutely do that deal.
