This item is not about Miley Cyrus in any way

Miley Cyrus

When I joined The Final Score at the beginning of the month, I posted a picture of my new cat, Juno (yes, like the movie).

Since the month is winding down, above is a new picture of Juno (in the foreground) with the new cat my wife and I got on Saturday. His name is Miko. Usually Juno spits at Miko, but this is the first time they slept together in bed. We're hopeful.

Why another cat? When we went to the shelter, it was a close race between Juno and Miko. We picked Juno, but we never forgot about Miko, and three weeks later we checked to see if he was still there. He was, so we snapped him up. He's a doll. You can't see it in the photo, but he has a very big nose.

Among the things I've learned in the first month of doing the blog is people really respond to the little personal touches we throw in. I've also learned if you put names like "Miley Cyrus" in the headline you get more hits.

I've also learned that my mom (who doesn't like sports) reads the blog and my dad (who loves sports) doesn't.

Like cats, people can be funny.

My favorite movie of 2007 . . .

... was "Juno"
So when my wife and I adopted a cat this afternoon, we named her Juno, because she was born in 2007, when the movie came out.
Here's a picture of the cat Juno taken with my Newsday-issued Blackberry camera. See, Hank, that was a good investment! Hank is my boss at Newsday.

Baumbach has a dog, which I know because I hear the dog barking every time we're on the phone. Baumbach and I have a very "2008" friendship. We IM, text, e-mail and talk on the phone every day but rarely see each other in person, except when we have the same assignment, which we will on Sunday, when we will be shooting a video for The Final Score at a super secret location. Any guesses?
I know this has little to do with sports, but I'm sharing. Speaking of sharing, my Newsday colleague Alan Hahn had an incrediblly well-written and dramatic item on his blog, The Knix Fix, recently. Check it out here.
Alan is about to become a father for the third time, which is a little more important than my becoming a cat owner for the umpteenth time.
Well, this is my 19th and final post of the day. Best and Glauber may sniff at that total, but I'm new to this blogging thing, and I think that's enough for one day. And unlike Best and Glauber, I cover sporting events five days a week, not one (Glauber, for about half of the year) or none (Best), so I don't have a lot of time for blogging. And I don't have a basement office like Best and Ray Barone.

Maybe Baumbach, if he ever shows up here today, can add post No. 20. How about a picture of the dog? He didn't do a "Where Are They Now" today, so how about "Where Is My Dog Now?"
Thanks to shamus.org for the photo of Neil's workspace. Thanks to imdb.com for the Juno poster. Thanks to me for the Juno the cat photo.
