Why can't Jim Fassel get a head coaching job?
My brother asked me this very question the other day, and I had no answer for him. Sure seems like a reasonable question, right?
We're talking about a guy who spent seven years in the biggest market, made it to the Super Bowl, has a career mark five games over .500 (58-53-1). And he has made it clear time and again he wants nothing more than to coach again.
Wouldn't you think that his resume would be enough to convince another NFL team to give him a second chance, thinking he could build upon the decent first impression as an NFL coach? (Especially considering that Eric Mangini is already the leader to be hired in Cleveland just days after he was fired by the Jets).
Maybe Best or Glauber can explain to me why Fassel is still waiting for his second chance, five years after his final season with the Giants. Maybe it's just bad timing.
