Eli Manning had a very underrated season

Eli Manning's Super Bowl MVP performance a year ago ensured that in 2008 he wouldn't have been booed *as much* if he had another inconsistent year.

It never came to that. Manning used the Super Bowl winning drive - as well as his overall strong play in the postseason - as a springboard en route to becoming one of the NFL's most underrated quarterbacks.

Bottom line: this guy knows how to win games. As the cliche goes, he stays within himself. Or, he doesn't try to do too much. You can take your pick of cliches.

Thus, I wrote my Web column today about Eli's transformation into a consistently effective quarterback - a topic that has been overshadowed by the Giants' many bizarre incidents this season.

I remember being on that same ride at Disneyland with mu wife.

It's hard to stay vertical on it.
