The man who drafted Frederic Weis gets promoted!!!

Scott Layden was an awful general manager, no doubt about it. He was so bad that a source says he used to check whether trades would work under the salary cap by using RealGM.com, which back in those days was strictly a fan web site. (Nowadays RealGM.com has a special trade-checker product they sell to NBA teams.)

Anyway, as bad as Layden was, he did NOT draft Weis, perhaps the worst pick in NBA history. Many people blame it on Layden, but that pick was made before Layden was hired - by interim GM Ed Tapscott.

And today, Tapscott is a head coach in the NBA. That's because the Washington Wizards fired Eddie Jordan and replaced him with Tapscott on an interim basis.
