Janet Evans' 19-year-old world mark in the 800 freestyle falls

BJETS_LG-2.jpgJanet Evans' 19-year-old world mark in the 800 freestyle went down the drain today as Rebecca Adlington took the gold in 8 minutes 14.10 seconds, taking more than two seconds off the Evans' record of 8:16.22.

Here's a nice account of the race from our step-sister newspaper, the LA Times.

I guess Janet's going to need to update her website, which still has her holding records in the 400, 800 and 1,500 freestyle. But no one can take away her five Olympic medals.

And here's some Janet Evans video. It's a little rough and the narrator speaks British, but it's still worth watching. And for another look, go here.
