Finally got to Bobby's Burger Palace at the Smith Haven Mall and here's my mini-review. I've decided that this qualifies as sports because Bobby Flay competes on the Iron Chef, and the Iron Chef is competition.
If you don't buy that, well, this won't be the first time we've gone off on a food tangent.
Your reviewers are Chicago Norm and Chicago Norm Jr., both world-renowned fast-food dining experts.
Dallas Burger (Spice-rubbed burger topped with cole slaw, cheese, bbq sauce, pickle and cruchitized with chips): WOW!
Santa Fe Burger (Burger topped with queso, jalapenos and blue corn chips): WOW!
Crinkle-cut fries: WOW! (Crispy on the outside, delicious on the inside, and served in a metal pail.)
Beer-battered onion rings: Really good. (Also served in a metal pail but the fries knock them out of the ring.)
Tab for this and two fountain beverages: $26. It doesn't appear to be the kind of place where you'd tip. You stand in line to order, receive a number, choose your own table and fill up your own beverage glass. Someone brings your order to your table and you never have contact with that person again unless you flag her down to get extra napkins or something.
Comment from Chicago Norm Jr.: "This is better than Five-Guys, and you know how much I like Five Guys." (FYI, Five Guys is a burger chain and a place that Junior frequents during the school year at South Florida. Locally, there is a Five Guys in Levittown.
I couldn't find any pictures of Bobby's burgers, so here's one of him with his wife, former Law & Order Special Victims assistant DA Alexandra Cabot.
