Chuck Culpepper sighting!

homer_running.jpg

So i'm electronically thumbing through Newsday when I see our British Open story is by Chuck Culpepper of the LA Times.

Chuck Culpepper! He was with Newsday for a few years. Incredibly talented writer, and a great guy. I didn't know him that well. But what I did know i liked. He's one of the few people in this biz no one ever has a bad word to say about. That's something among jaded journalists.

The other distinction Chuck held during his time at Newsday is he once walked from Yankee Stadium to Shea Stadium (or the other way, I forget) between games of one of those two-stadium Subway Series doubleheaders and then wrote about it.

I wonder if Chuck knows he was eclipsed this season by our own Baumbach, who RAN between the stadiums during this season's event while someone fired paint gun pellets at him?

What? Oh, I guess I'm getting Baumbach's wacky stunts mixed up. I won't rest until Baumbach is fired out of a cannon at the Super Bowl!
