A-Rod is the Beckham of baseball
I just ran across a pretty racy item about Alex Rodriguez and a stripper on a British scandal sheet website.
Forget the sleeze. Here's what I found amusing in a promo for a story entitled "Stripper reveals all about A-Rod in Madonna marriage row"
"Candice Houlihan today pitches into Madge’s marriage crisis with a sizzling account of how Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez —the David Beckham of baseball—secretly romped with her . . .."
Kind of stops you when you realize that across the pond you actually need to explain who the guy that Madonna has been linked to is. In fact, another headline simply calls him "Madge Rat," and the big marriage in question is Madonna and Guy Ritchie's.
OK, that's enough of that. And now, back to real sports.

Could we try an experiment ... a week without posts about the personal lives (read love/sex lives) of current athletes?
I'd like a Favre/Clemens ban too, but that may be too much to ask. I'll trade no Garth Snow/Ted Nolan/Al Arbour for that.
I have to go elsewhere to read about a guy who chose a different path ... Bobby Murcer ... and isn't it appropriate that the day the Murcer family has chosen to celebrate Bobby's life, August 6, is the 29th anniversary of Bobby Murcer 5, Baltimore 4?
Brooks,
The Final Score is like a Chinese Food menu. You don't have to like moo shu to enjoy the sweet and sour.
And I'll let you in on a little secret: Page views are up to where they have never been before. So the formula is working. Isn't it always the purists like you who get screwed when the product goes mass market?
