That's "Who do you like in the National Texting Championships?" for those who don't speak the lingo. :)
Wow, I feel like Ed Sullivan introducing Spanky and Our Gang as a "special treat for our young viewers."
I lost a bundle on the 2008 Scripps National Spelling Bee a couple of weeks ago when the favorite, Tia Thomas, misspelled opificer as epificer in Round 13.
And what's an opificer? On LI, it's the way a drunk coming out of a bar greets the policeman who's making sure that he gets in to a cab, and not his car.
Although I drew the favorite in the Spelling Bee and didn't win, I'm hoping that my pals at NEWSDAY.COM will start a pool for the LG National Texting Championships. The NYC qualifying round is July 9 at the Roseland Ballroom in Times Square.
Although Chicago Norm was once clocked at 100 words per minute on a typewriter, he has real problems with texting and will not enter. I'm more suited for hot dog eating contests.
