How about Bobby Valentine, Part II?
I would assume that one reason the Mets didn't fire Willie Randolph two weeks ago was because of a lack of an ideal replacement.
As Newsday's Ken Davidoff blogged about here two weeks ago, the Mets studied teams that made a managerial change mid-season and came to the conclusion that most moves don't translate into a positive season.
But... one person who surely would bring energy to the team is Bobby Valentine, don't you think? Now who knows if he could get out of his contract with Chiba Lotte midseason - or whether he'd want to - but wouldn't that be an interesting story?
Just thinking out loud.

This was precisely the Islanders' thinking when they brought back ...
Aw, never mind.
The Mets just seem confused.
