YANKEES: Good job by Michael Kay and David Cone wondering why Joba Chamberlain was throwing too many off-speed pitches in the eighth inning last night on YES.

But I'm surprised Coney didn't pick up on the obvious reason: Joba had no control of his fastball. He couldn't throw it for strikes. So he went to his other stuff.

Because of that, the Indians wisely laid off the slider, which is usually more Joba's strikeout pitch. They just took it. Good approach.

And there weren't even any midges.
