Julio Franco retires; give him a curtain call

Many years from now people will say the name Julio Franco and someone else will say, "Isn't that the guy that convinced Carlos Beltran to take a curtain call instead of snub the fans?"

Okay, probably not.

But one final Delgado point from me, and then I'll officially put it to rest. I bet the only person who could have convinced Delgado to take the curtain call would have been Franco.

For what that's worth...

How funny is it that Franco's final HR in the majors was off Randy Johnson last year. Franco was 48, Johnson 43. That's a combined 91 years.

That won't be topped, for sure.
