Today's Yankees / Mets thoughts

YANKEES: Brian Cashman says he and Hank Steinbrenner are on the same page about Joba Chamberlain.
Only mental midgets would believe that. Hank told us what he really thinks on Sunday. That he backed off yesterday only makes me sad. Have the courage of your convictions, man! Either impose your will as co-owner of the team or keep your mouth shut. This stuff -- while tons of fun to follow -- only makes you look like, to quote you, "an idiot."
METS: Before Sunday's loss to the Phillies, Willie Randolph was asked if he liked the little roll his team was on -- five wins in a row. Randolph said no, it was too early to think about rolls, and called it "a modest little streak."
I got the impression Willie didn't feel like his team was clicking on all cylinders, and back-to-back losses to the Phillies and Cubs confirmed that. I went into the season thinking the Mets were the regular-season team to beat in the NL because of Santana, Pedro, Maine and Perez.
I wonder if the absence of Pedro has made even the manager feel a little less sure about his team.
