Today's Mets / Yankees thoughts

Pedro Martinez

METS: I'm beginning to think there's a stink around this team that just might not go away this season.

If so, I trace it back to the day Pedro Martinez got hurt. There was so much hope for Pedro to be the old Pedro, or at least a version of the old Pedro, and when his hamstring snapped I think some of the Mets' confidence went with him.

Considering this is mostly the same group that collapsed in 2007, why would they have confidence in their ability to overcome adversity?

Be afraid, Mets fans. Be very afraid.

YANKEES: Ian Kennedy starts against Cleveland this afternoon. I'm not sure I like that matchup for the Yankees. If he's not on, I see a few balls leaving the yard and a fresh round of questions about whether Kennedy might need a trip to Scranton.
