Rich Eisen of NFL Network gave $500 to Barack

Richard Eisen made his contribution to Barack Obama on Feb. 28, 2008. Are sports journalists allowed to make contributions? It's definitely frowned upon, for sure. But is Eisen a journalist?

Probably not.

I should probably stay away from Eisen and people of his nature. This is Neil Best's domain.

It's a no-no for me to give $ or make endorsements if I want to pose as the wise scholar who offers dispassionate asessments of the candidates and national/state politics (as I, in fact, am paid to do). But Eisen's not commenting on politics. That he's also more of a well-informed master of ceremonies than a reporter is, of course, true.

Fair points, all the way around.
