The Final Score

As Jose Reyes goes, so do the Mets. Everyone knows that. But Carlos Beltran deserves all the credit for doing something about it.

I was definitely impressed by Beltran last night. One day after giving Reyes a pep talk, pleading with him to go back to his fun-loving ways, Beltran told reporters about it. That was no slip of the tongue. At least in my opinion. Beltran has been around now long enough to know how things work in New York. Clearly, by offering that news, he wants the word out there that the old Jose Reyes is back.

I sense a turning point for the Mets. I bet many months from now we'll be talking about this Beltran-Reyes chat as the time when Reyes' season took off, as did the Mets...
