What is=20 this?

After blocking 1,126 shots in six seasons with the Nuggets, center = Marcus=20 Camby took a few Wednesday.

Still trying to come to grips with his trade from Denver to the Los = Angeles=20 Clippers, Camby talked candidly about his disappointment in the hours = after his=20 abrupt departure.

"Blindsided, distraught, disrespected. All those adjectives. I = definitely=20 feel insulted," he said in a telephone interview with the Rocky = Mountain=20 News.

"When I first heard about the trade, I felt like I was the scapegoat = after=20 all our past first-round exits and failures and lack of defense. I felt = it was=20 them telling me that I was no longer wanted and I was the cause of = everything=20 that went wrong the last couple years on this team.

"I'm still in disbelief. I'm still in shock. I still can't believe = this=20 happened."

As part of a cost-cutting move, the Nuggets sent Camby and his $10 = million=20 salary-cap figure to the Clippers in exchange for the right to swap = second-round=20 picks in the 2010 draft.

News of the deal reached Camby through his agent, Rick Kaplan, on = Tuesday=20 night. Twenty-four hours earlier, Camby had been around Nuggets = officials at the=20 NBA summer league in Las Vegas.

"Obviously, the Nuggets don't owe me any explanation," Camby said. "I = understand that this is definitely a business, but I felt that the six = years of=20 service that I put in on the court and off the court, they at least = could have=20 given me a heads-up on what was going on. I feel very disrespected on = that=20 aspect."

During his time in Denver, Camby enjoyed some of the best statistical = seasons=20 of his career and was named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year for = 2006-07. In=20 addition, he was active in the community and often faced the media when = many of=20 his teammates ran for cover.

"I'm definitely frustrated because I felt that I gave it my all," he = said.=20 "There were years when I was the only (healthy) big guy on the team when = all the=20 big guys around me were hurt. I would still play hurt and do my all for = this=20 team. I didn't realize my salary was that much compared to everyone = else's. They=20 basically dumped mine and got nothing in return."

The trade came less than a week after backup forward Eduardo Najera = signed a=20 free-agent contract with the New Jersey Nets. Like Camby, Najera was = best known=20 for his defense.

"The team and the organization always talked about the need to play = good=20 defense, but they traded away a pretty good defender," Camby said. "From = that=20 aspect, I really don't understand the move. They obviously feel = confident with=20 the team they have assembled right now to get some things done."

In explaining the reasoning behind the deal, Nuggets officials = welcomed the=20 financial flexibility they will have in the near future. Still hovering = near the=20 league's luxury tax threshold, they are in better position to re-sign = restricted=20 free-agent guard J.R. Smith, then clear cap space in 2009.

In the short term, the Nuggets are considering Chris Andersen and = Francisco=20 Elson as possibilities to replace Camby.

Elson's agent, Calvin Andrews, who represents Carmelo Anthony, said = Nuggets=20 officials have told him they have interest in bringing back his = client.

Elson played for the Nuggets from 2003 to 2006 before signing with = San=20 Antonio as a free agent. He was traded by the Spurs to Seattle in = February and=20 finished the season with the SuperSonics.

"There have been no offers," Andrews said. "But (the Nuggets) have = told me=20 they definitely will consider Cisco. I think it would be a good = fit."

Andersen's agent, Steve Heumann, would not comment when asked if the = Nuggets=20 have contacted him about his client, but an NBA source said the Nuggets = have=20 discussed bringing him back to Denver.

Andersen, known as "Birdman" for his leaping ability, spent two = seasons in=20 Denver before signing with New Orleans as a free agent after the 2003-04 = season.=20 He was banned from the NBA in January 2006 for violating the league's = substance=20 abuse policy and was reinstated in the spring.

Former University of Colorado center David Harrison also is a=20 possibility.

A source said the Nuggets are continuing to look at Harrison, an = unrestricted=20 free agent who played last season for the Indiana Pacers. Harrison last = week=20 said he has interest in playing for the Nuggets and would be willing to = sign a=20 minimum deal if he felt he would get adequate playing time.

    -was=20 NBA DPY winner
    -Constant double digit scorer
-blocked more than = a=20 THOUSAND shots for Denver
-was the heart and soul of Denver
-was = a=20 constant double digit rebounder

All that, and he is traded for... OPTION to EXCHANGE 2ND=20 ROUNDER??????

He = was not=20 mad because he was traded, he knew he was gonna go sooner or later, = but he was=20 mad because they basically dumped him for nothing.
