'I know for a fact Eddy's not gay'

Eddy Curry went from being questioned about his weight to being questioned about his sexual orientation. And as the Knicks ended the road trip with a commendable win over Chris Paul and the Hornets here in New Orleans, the controversy du jour only reminds us that this franchise is still just a lightning rod for drama.

Curry right now is begging for a Marbury YouTube moment.

Curry denied all of the allegations from his driver -- see our report here for the entire story -- and said, “This is absolutely false. It’s incredible. I can’t even believe it.”

No one actually believes it. But what is believable is that this will stick to Curry this is yet another example of how professional athletes (like any wealthy celebrity) are easy targets to prey upon.

"He had approached my friends and me a while back trying to get money and stuff like that," Curry said. "I just never thought – especially with the past that me and him had – I never thought that it would go past where it did, which is idle threats; ‘I want some money or else’ kind of stuff.

"I guess it’s just like a prime example of you just gotta watch who you have around you," he continued. "This is a guy who, I really thought was my friend up until the last four or five months. I can’t even believe this has happened.”

The driver says Eddy is gay. That Eddy is an Anti-Semite. The only thing we can confirm that Eddy is against is, apparently, exercise. And he's too apathetic to be a hater.

The gay thing?

“I know for a fact Eddy’s not gay," Malik Rose said.

But he is now the epicenter of a lewd, scandalous story -- true or not -- that is sure to sell newspapers and collect page views.

“Now Eddy’s brand is tarnished forever,” Rose said. “People are always going to associate those words and those actions with him."

Get ready for the avalanche. Somewhere, Plaxico Burress is wiping his brow.

Sexual harrasment does not mean making a pass at someone,or that they're gay. My wife works in a corporation and was in a SH
workshop. Calling people "Fa**ot",and "g*y" is SH. Showing your privates to somebody is SH. So
if Eddy Curry did one of those,yes..he's guilty. You'd figure the folks at cablevision have SH workshops
especially after what happened with Isiah. Let's just trade these guys already. What a mess. They're all getting moved- except Harrington,
Danilo,Chandler and Duhon. Be patient for master Donnie to make his move. It's going too be AMAZING ! I can wait...PS-Curry,see ya!

Damn...

that is all i can say about that

malik is right
this will follow curry for a long time.
probably not true
but....

i mean curry seems like a nice guy and all
but he has been a waste of space on the knicks

i wish we could trade his fat arse
but with this hanging over his head
his trade stock is plummeting
to an all time low

i was wondering who would be
stupid enough to trade for Curry
but now i feel it is an impossibility

Damn...

Eddie is not gay. This is extortion by an ex con. Hopefully this will light a fire under his ass for him get back into game shape and to work.

If it comes back and looks good, this will be all forgotten. You really think some conartist is going to prevent Curry from ever being traded? This ex-convict guy is so stupid and he is just going to wind up back in jail for extortion. Maybe trading Curry won't happen this year but maybe next. It has to do with him not playing. If he was in game shape none of this would matter.

I don't care if Eddy is gay or not; it makes no difference to me.

But in terms of his brand being tarnished, um, it's not like Eddy has spent much energy building up his brand.

i guess now we know why his knees hurt! lol

I don't care if Curry is gay or not. That is his business; not mine.

What I do care about is that he is lazy, unmotivated, out of shape and is squandering his considerable basketball talent as a result.

sounds like a make up story to push Curry out of NY, since he found excuses (or, who know, maybe he's just unlucky) not to play games and prove he's healthy and avaliable for trades

I don't think this story is likely to stick - although in a best-of-all-possible world, it would encourage Eddy to opt out of his contract ASAP.

Eddy needs a clean start, in another system - but no one is giving up anything for Eddy in the shape he's in, and with that contract. Eddy has to man up, for once in his life, and opt-out.

regardless of the specifics of the civil charges, there is a pattern to bad things happening to this guy. i am not trying to apportion blame here, but the record is brutal: entering the draft too young, break-down in contract negotiations in chicago, weight issues, sued by a clothing store for non-payment, mysterious injuries, sexual harassment charges, armed robbery and hostage situation in his house....and these are just the one's we know about.

it is time for eddie curry to take a hard look in the mirror, take responsibility for the mess around him, and to put up or shut up.

I always suspected Eddy Curry was a fairy. It just makes too much sense.

Having said that, I don't believe this to be 110%. Obviously this scum bag driver just wants money.

Argh...this makes trading Curry almost impossible. We'll have to use David Lee and our upcoming draft pick as bait.

Eddie!?!?!?..wha happen?

i know that this story is
just a money grab attempt
by his limo driver

but curry has a bad karma cloud
that hangs over his head
like that charlie brown character pigpen

who would trade for him
in his condition and with all the the drama?
his for rep for being a fat slob
surely outweighs any fabricated story
about him

he is a keeper.
thanks isiah...lol

I don't believe the story, if I'm right Curry should coutnersue for defamation and refer him to the DA on extortion and perjury charges.

Last nights game showed what can happen when the Knicks move the ball. Opens up driving lanes and gives them much better looks from the outside.

The D was also much better. Nate actually pressured the ball up the court, we fought for every rebound. We won't win every game, we are still too undersized and lack a good 1st option on offense, but we shouldn't be losing games to the Thunder or Minn.

Knicks4life:
I thought of you when Nate was puttin the pressure 3/4 court.
maybe he read your post.

Can this be a breach of contract? For violating team personal conduct rule?

I think the Knicks organization needs to get proactive and start providing some guidance and education to some of these young kids. I'm not talking about babysitters, but I'm talking about people who can counsel them about how to deal with money, who's around them, etc. We could argue that they are all adults, but the simple fact is not many 22 year-old can handle millions of dollars without messing up (I know I couldn't). It just blows my mind that the Knicks and pretty much all pro teams don't already do this.

This is for sure a shakedown, or what is called plain and simple extortion. I hate these stories and the way the media covers them with no regard to the young man accused. The Post wasted no time last night to put this story in their front page along side with a not so flattering photo. As they always do!

I have to give credit to Alan who wrote about the story, and in the same breath defended Eddie. Who right now is facing his most embarrassing and tarnishing accusation he will ever face.

Curry being a major disappointment on the basketball court has nothing to do with this accusation. This is where TEAM comes in, whether you're a teammate or a Knick fan this is the time to support him.

Here's hoping we don't fuel the fire here, if you see the story online don't click on it to read it. They follow the click through rate on all stories. This story does not help Curry, the Knicks, nor does it help us the fans. Don't fuel the fire!

Why be ignorant of the facts/accusations Ray. That's just silly. Blind support absent facts or knowledge makes you a Bush administration official not a good Knick fan.

@ Nostradanus: If everyone listened to me the world would be a much better place!

Sigh (re: Eddy)

But anyway. Q gets the game ball as far as I am concerned. He actively implemented the D'Antoni strategy of offense: move the ball, find the open man, the open man is the go to man. Duhon gets 1.A for getting the ball to Q in the post where he had the mismatch. That was the crux of the game there, the time when in the past year, guys have abandoned the offense, stopped trusting each other and started freelancing. Q, knowing this, showed real leadership, not just primal screams and AttaBoys, and took control to work the second and third options of the offense. Guys had started to drift around, shoot on the first pass, and generally tighten up, and he pulled them back from the brink.

Kudos to D'Antoni if he's doing what I think he is. It has now become clear what he has in terms of personnel and that no other options are on the horizon (a real pity Mobley is done, I think he would really have tipped the balance) and that it is time for HIM to change. He's done all the teaching, and we've done all the critiquing, but now it seems he has realized that if they are to win at all, they have to flip their orientation to a Defense-first squad. Not that they have the personnel for that any more than they have the personnel to score 110 a night, but there is no other way to win this year. If D'Antoni can pull THAT off, he shows he is one of the best coaches in the league.

Nate still "slumping", but my hunch is that "slumping" is actually "thinking." Never before has he thought and played at the same time - like chewing gum and walking for lesser men - and I'll take 30 % percent shooting for the rest of the year if he plays the game right. Because of his unique conformation and talent, he is rightly considered to be one of "those" guys - like Josh Smith - a player who is clearly above the rest physically at his position. As a result, he can be a special player. The kind of player that as soon as Crawford left, should have been the only option considered. Instead, he has to be hidden on the bench. This time will make or break him for this squad. And I believe it is these kinds of trials that Walsh is watching closely. This is what he means by needing to watch this team for 82 games to see what he has.

And Willis did you see Q-Rich take the ball to the rack in the 1st half. He really set the pace and mentality for the team to fight every second out there.

@ Knicks4Life

Your half right, accusations because these are not facts. This may be a joke to you or others, however this is devastating to this young man.

Plus comparing the action of a Knick fan with a Bush Administration official is quite silly. Get over it already, and move on .... politics and sports don't mix.

This not a put down, I enjoy reading your posts. Whether I agree or not at times. Let's move on and talk about the Knicks win over the Hornets.

Who cares if the guy is gay? If you guys posting knew how many brothers in the NBA keep it on the down low, you'd be amazed. It's the 21st century Idn't? if the guy could actually post up and act like a legit big man instead of the overpaid slow sloth, well he could get his groove with whoever he wanted. all this obsession with is he gay is not the point, just because he may have flashed his driver does not mean he's gay. haven't any of you armchair athletes been in a sports locker room and shower, high school, college or pro? dudes are always doing weird ass stuff or saying sexual stuff, some of it gay in nature. what probably happened here is what curry thought was some kind of drunk jock joke was taken by a scumbag as an opportunity to milk a rich idiot. and i would like to know what transpired between Malik and Eddy for Malik "to know for a fact" curry' not gay? How the hell can anybody know that?

Seems like McGrady is wearing out his welcome in Houston? Would you guys take a chance on him? In some ways he is exactly what this team does not need, perhaps he would even be an IT type signing (guy who has never won anything, moody, overpaid).

I also think he is one of the most gifted offensive players I have ever seen. If Houston is ready to rebuild I would trade Marbury and anyone else on this roster (including Danillo) to make that trade work.

Toronto is also dying to get rid of JO put to me he doesn't make you any better, so we might as well keep Marbury coming off the books and save Jimmy D a year of extra luxury tax payments.

How do you figure JO -- a rebounding, shot blocking offensive force when he is healthy -- doesnt make this team better than having Marbury sit home?

Obviously Curry was just talkin' trash when he waved his wooly Johnson around. It's a cultural misunderstanding gone bad. Driver thinks Eddy should have kept the brisket in the basket. But if you want to play with the big boys, you have to play by their rules.

Something clicked last night, for a lot of the guys. Maybe it was walsh indicaing that there was little liklihood of major moves before the deadline. Everyone was playing with confidence, even jeffries, who had his best night as a knick. Lee was releasing his jumper without aiming. Q tom it to the rack with abandon. Let's hope this leads to a respectable homestand, the losing is becoming exhausting.

Knicks4life: I'm surprised you would want Mcbaby. He is very talented but so are a lot of guys in the league. I'm tired of the head cases and the egos. Also injury prone. I'll pass on Tracy. The guy can't win either.

Dec 30 @ Charlotte W 93-89
Jan 2 Indiana L 103-105
Jan 4 Boston W 100-88
Jan 6 @ Oklahoma City L 99-107
Jan 8 @ Dallas L 94-99
Jan 10 @ Houston L 76-96
Jan 12 @ New Orleans W 101-95

Last 7 games, with 5 of them on the road, the Knicks have gone 3-4 and only 2 teams have scored over 100 points against them, that too barely. And I believe the Knicks had a good chance to win in 2 of the 4 losses. Can someone who watches all the games tell me if the team is actually playing better than the results indicate? Also, how come teams aren't scoring on the Knicks anymore. There seem to be some good teams in this list. Is it that teams are not motivated enough when playing against the Knicks or are the Knicks starting to play good defense? The results sure seem to be at odds with what I read here.

How could you want to trade Danilo now when we haven't even seen the kid play yet?

Al Bundy....great stuff.

Trading Danilo for McGrady would be the worst move in NBA history. McGrady's injury-prone and he's on the downside of his career. He'll be 80 years old in 2010, he doesn't fit the rebulding plan, Gallo's hurt but he has the potential to be a star, and he's 20 years old.

No disrespect but Knicks4life you're crazy on this one. Do you really want to ruin the franchise?

As you say, Life, Sec, the implementation of the whole floor was a huge factor, and Q was the leader in that as well. Kudos to Al and others for putting their heads down and driving AND using back cuts to take advantage of our rep as a 3 point chucking team.

Rodman,
held by the NBA. It is mandatory for all rookies.

K4L,

Pass on Tracy and JO. These guys are past their prime and are injury prone. They do not make the Knicks any better in the long run.

Look I understand all the problems with McGrady. But when healthy (and he has at times put up decent numbers this year) he is a top 15 player (ok maybe top 25). He, for whatever reason, has lost motivation in Houston. Maybe he turns around his career in NY like his cousin did in NJ.

In order to get a potential franchise guy you have to give up something. I'm not as high on Danillo as others here and I think his back issues are more severe than the team has let on so far. I was trying to think of who on this roster may at least make Houston think about a deal and I didn'' want to give up Chandler or Lee. We really don't have any other tradeable assets if a team is trying to rebuild.

And McGrady came straight out of HS, so even though it seems like he has been in the league forever, he is only 29.

Before 2010 we have to get some form of talent in here.

@ Biggie: JO isn't healthy that is the problem. JO of 2 years ago would be a godsend for this team. This JO is a gamble I wouldn't want to take. And yes I know the irony of saying I want McGrady (Mr. McGlass) while rejecting JO, but McGrady is still capable of huge games. I think JO is done.

My post got hacked up, I meant to say that the NBA has a program for harrasment, money management, and the pitfalls that come w/ being a young millionaire. It is mandatory for all rookies.

Knicks win and David Lee goes off for 24 on 12 of 16 shooting and it gets tainted by Curry. Time for a new blog. I can't take much more of this Curry stuff. Less Curry, please!

If Donnie could extract something of value for Toronto for taking on an additional 20 plus mil (plus lux tax) in JO's contract in exchange for Marbury's expiring it would be a win win..

Toronto gets cap space this year and we get a semi useful player (compared to Marbury) whose contract expires before 2010 plus another asset (draft pick/young player?)

Other teams have gotten significant assets for taking on salary like J.O. 's

If we could get 15 mins a note from J.O. it would be a short term help while not affecting the long term --in fact helping the LT if we got another asset back.

He'll be 31 in 2010, his salary would get a lot of space and that wouldn't fit the cap space strategy.

Listen, the point is we got to get a few young talented players and then look at 2010 free agency as the icing on the cake. We already got Wilson Chandler - who's going to be a great player - we have Gallinari - who's going to be a great player if his health isn't a major issue in the future. I've played basketball and I can tell you, Gallo's potential is scary. He 20 years old, he has the reputation of playing hard, he's 6'10 yet he shoots and handles the ball like a guard. That is crazy.

My priority would be, get Bayless or Anthony Randolph for a pair of second rounders. I have some kind of compassion for Eddy Curry and I'm ready to give him another chance with the Knicks, however we still have next season to trade him.

John Q, I was talking about a team taking an active participation in the maturation of their players (not something that you can do in a weekend). Bringing in smart people to guide and mentor them. Maybe some players are too stubborn to listen, but I know when KG was young he was fortunate to around smart, mature players and listen to them. And become friends with Jimmy Jam, who a very intelligent guy. Think the Knicks really need to step up in this dept.

Seriously, howbout D-lee's game last night???...the guy has been the only thing consistent for the Knicks...go ahead talk about his defense...gimme a break the guy is improving on his D as well. Guy was an animal last night. 24...9....and 3...

Rodman,

I think that's why you keep a guy like Malik around. He sure as hell aint contributing ON the court.

Alan -- Please don't over-play this story. Lawsuits filed against rich athletes can't be very unusual, right? Setting aside the titillating nature of this one, it's a one-day story, right? Please?

Biggie,

I know you've been through this battle 8000 times, but I just don't quite remember your stance on this....

If, by some miracle, were able to get Eddy (and his 11.3) off the books by the end of the year, would you be OK with giving 9-10/yr over 4 years to Lee?

I dont think it is realistic that we get rid off Eddy -- even more so after this road trip -- and that D Lee signs here for 4 years at under 40 mil.

Our window to trade Eddy is up until the deadline in February We would have to dump Eddy before the feb deadline to seriously have a chance of retaining Lee at a reasonable price..

Basically.. your scenario is so far fethced it isnt even worth getting into any more.

Eddy is here for the next 12 months at least

Sorry you guys don't believe me...but this was quite humilating for me/

This summer, on the way to his video game hang-out, er, I mean gym...in Chicago...Eddy would make me stop at the donut shop, buy a half dozen glazed, and then put as many as I could on his erection...

He would then say..."Feed me white boy...feed me..."

The hidden camera I installed in the limo makes sure this never goes to trial, and I will be getting most of Eddy's contract.

I promise to average only slightly less rebounds, and far less turnovers than Eddy for the same money..

What makes you, Alan Hahn so certain Curry isn't a homosexual? I think he is. It's not unusual for a brother to be on the DL.
So please don't write that nobody believes he is gay. Cause I do.

Also, one this I found troubling is the fact that Newsday omitted the details of the suit where Curry is accused of saying " "f---ing Jew," "cracker," "white slave," "white devil" and "grandmaster of the KKK."
That's all in the suit, why is it not in your story, especially when you have a separate article that you say details the suit?

Why did Newsday keep this out of their story? Could it be that Newsday and the Knicks are both owned by Dolan?

Why won't Newsday let their readers comment on Baumbach article?

If a white man was accused of calling a black man such racist names, would Newsday have printed that?

Here's why:
"In its purchase, Cablevision took control of Newsday’s print, online and affiliated publications. Tribune Co. held onto Newsday’s real estate and printing facilities, which were valued at about $20 million. According to a Newsday report, the deal was financed with $650 million in bonds underwritten by Bank of America. Tribune Co. received $612 million in cash and $18 million in rent payments from Cablevision."

Its not too far fetched for me... A lot of men are on the down low....A lot....but this is just totally disgusting and wrong. Eddy if you wanted to meet men, you could get them on blogs...and no one would know who you were anyway...cause you were the biggest thing like 5 or 6 years ago when you were in high school...but after you played with chicago...you werent ready for the nba you should have went to the developmental league....and now you are on the knicks...who suck....WHY CANT WE GET ANYONE GOOD ON THE KNICKS...they were pretty interesting when it was camby, spreewell, and houston....but..they still sucked..lol but they were the best with pat ewing and john starks. eddy curry you are a scrub lose some weight train better...and do your job...stop putting donuts on your penis..lol.

Think about it...what was the sport Eddy really loved and wanted to do?

Gymnastics....he really liked the balance beam...

Think about it...why is Eddy Curry the most timid 7 foot & 350 pound player in the NBA who typically ends a game with 4 rebounds, 0 blocks and not a single foul on any 6 foot guard waltzing down his lane?

The dude may not be Richard Simmons gay...but he's obviously a couple of quarts low on testosterone.

Marbury, Rose, James, Curry & Jeffries...4 of the worst contracts in the league...

Yet people here don't want to give someone like D Lee a nice contract...fools.

I only hope D Lee ends up with a champion...ha...maybe Cleveland!

This ridiculous Eddy drama is annoying and we as fans should have better things to talk about right now.Curry is just as fat and out of shape as he was before we learned of all this non sense. Knicks had mabey thier best effort of the season last night against an elite healthy west coast team on the road. The wizards are struggling and definately beatable. Im exited to know we may see Galinari soon. Seems like he could be a player simaliar to Peja Stoyokovich with perhaps more upside and demensions?????????
