We only smokin Phillies
Live from Room 1100, downing some room service asian salad and laying low. This town is gripped in Red October. I bathed in it last night. But on game day, got to hold it down here in the room, chow on some room service and get in a workout. Oh yes, as Sheila E sang it, the glamorous life.
She saw him standing in the section marked
'If-you-have-to-ask-you-can't-afford-it lingerie'
She threw him bread and said make me scream
In the dark what could he say...
Yo Prince could do this thing with lyrics, couldn't he?
Focus...this is a Knicks blog. My bad...![]()
If you're a Knicks fan and can get to Philly by 7 it might be worth the drive to see your team. With the Phillies playing Game 2 around 4:30 today, plenty of seats available at the Wachovia Center. Then after the game head down to Pats, get a cheesesteak and party with the Phillies fans. Red October, baby. Red October.
Focus!
If you do come, you're not going to see H2O tonight against the Sixers. That quad is still barking and Allan doesn't want to gimp through his debut. If he's going to do this, he wants to do it at 100 percent. Last year left too many questions and frustrations. He's got time. D'Antoni isn't getting impatient. He's really not anything. Allan has to make himself a factor to be one first.
"The biggest thing is, once he gets over this thing that’s been bothering him for about a month, if he can just constantly stay [healthy]," Coach said. "It’s a hard question. I don’t know. You’ll know it when you see it."
D'A does say that Eddy Curry is "ready to roll" (no pun intended) and he'll get some minutes tonight and bang with Elton Brand. But it's too soon, Coach says, to judge Eddy because he still needs more practice time to figure out his place in the system. Perhaps by Tuesday's game we'll get a better idea of where Eddy fits, if he does at all [bloghost interjection: The Wiz are without Brendan Haywood (wrist) for a huge chunk of the season...would they have any interest in Big Eddy?].
The starting lineup will be the same....Duhon, Crawford, Richardson, Lee and Randolph. The rotation should be the same, as well, just slip Curry in where Malik Rose played on Wednesday and you can expect Mardy Collins to get some burn in his hometown in the place where Anthony Roberson got in on Wednesday.
Speaking of Philly's Phinest, you know Malik has a future as Mayor of this town. Guess who had seats behind home plate for Game 1 last night? Crazy.

I agree with DaJoka and John Q (last thread) the fat man must go. But I completely disagree that keeping Zach is the answer. He and Lee have played well thus far under D'Antoni but long term Zach's contract makes it hard for us to add another superstar talent. You can only have 2 max players on your roster at a time if you are going to have a competitive team. Zach is a great role player, but he shouldn't be the second superstar on a championship team. Why you ask, simple, he is not a two way player. His D remains suspect, although he looked better this year than last, he does not block any shots, and is terrible at help defense. You can't have a starting frontcourt of Lee and Zach You aren't winning games with Zach as your # 2 option on a championship squad. If we added LBJ, we would basically only be able to afford LBJ, Zach, and some other mid-level players with maybe one other player in the 8-10 mil range. That is not getting it done.
The way our team is now, it might actually make more sense to draft a PG in 2009, trade Crawford, Zach, and Q and go after D. Wade and Bosh. Might be a pipe dream but if we are committed to 2010 that is the way I would go. Gotta let Eddie opt out and not resign him while resigning Nate and Lee on the cheap too.
OK so DaJoka isn't Steady.....
Paging Steady, the season has begun. Come out from whatever rock you are hiding under bro, the blogosphere could use your insight.
K4L,
Dude you are right. Zach isn't a long term solution nor should he be around when the 2010 plan goes into effect but if you were going to choose between starting ZBO or EC, I'd choose Zach 7 days a week.
I agree JohnQ..we need Zach more than Curry. Curry does nothing. It really gets to a point where I get tired of insulting Curry but he brings it on himself.
Lives...you got me again my brother.
Yes you are correct I am the young gunner.
I was blogging under 2 names but that's only because I forget to change the moniker before I click submit. You will never see my other moniker again. Not really a good idea to have your real name out there on the blog so I chose my favorite villian from the movies. Zach needs to stay if he continues to play well.
I'd rather keep Zach and get rid of Curry and Jamal. Jamal doesn't fit in this system because he is a one on one player. Maybe he can adjust, I could be wrong. That's something we'll have to see.
I have a brand new little one coming into the world in the next few weeks so it's really an exciting time for me right now.
Let's just see what happens.
Anybody interested in getting together maybe once a week to have a round table discussion on the Knicks? We can video tape it and post it online or we can send it to Alan and see what he thinks. Maybe he can post it on the blog or something. I asked him about it and he's still waiting for the powers that be to get back to him.
I think it would be a great idea.
Change in 08!!!!!!!
McShame is getting real desperate right about now.
I would push mountains to get Amare and D'Antoni toghther again. Lets try to get Amare to the Knicks.
Coach D lets see Patrick's son!!!
Not to go all Mike Breen here, but D'Antoni's offense will pad the stats of anyone who has a featured role in it, which should, in theory, raise their trade value. I should have thought that through when I was ripping Walsh for not just dumping guys.
Put me down in the Zach over Eddy camp this season, although the point about Zach's contract is sad but true - its not just the amount, but the length. Keeping him means a max slot tied up for three years. One of the big knocks on him is that he is selfish and not a team player - if he keeps doing the things needed to succeed in a motion offense (keep hustling, move the ball), he can dispel some of that, which also enhances his trade value. I thought the reason that the Knicks seemed optimistic about Eddy was that they saw a role for him with his decent hands and quick shooting ability looking for quick hitters in the mid and low post areas before the defense could get set and the double teams come. That only works if he can get up and down the floor fast enough, and his refusal to get into any kind of shape calls that into question to put it mildly. He doesn't defend or rebound, and can't pass, so that rules out the high post - if he isn't sprinting to the block (and just the thought of that is making everyone chuckle), its hard to see any credible role for him.
You can also put me in the 2010 plan isn't really a plan group, in that it's too improbable to be the basis for a legit strategy. More likely its something to pacify the fan base while bringing payroll under control, and if it so happens that a big name comes here, more the better.
DaJoka - cosign the call for change - if we can get rid of Isiah...
@ Pete - Eddy's in shape...it just happens to be that of a circle!
A BIG circle!!!
Curry for Haywood & Songila?
1.Duhon
2.Crawford
3.Chandler
4.Randolph
5.Lee
---------
6.Steph
7.Q
8.Nate
9.Gallo
10.Jeffries
11.Houston
12.Haywood
----------------
13.Ewing Jr.
14. Roberson
15. Collins
waive/buyout the rest (Songila, Rose, Grunfeld, James)
We need to get rid of Zach eventually because of the contract, but if he's playing well there's no rush. Eddy on the other hand, if there's any trade offer that comes our way for him (I wish) then Donnie should definitely take it.
Does anyone know what channel MSG2 is in Brooklyn (Time Warner)?
Sound familiar?

The Latest On Tinsely: The Indiana Pacers still have not found a taker on Jamaal Tinsley. Talks with the Denver Nuggets seem to be over, according to one source close to the situation. That source said the Nuggets insistence on cash or a first round draft pick being included in the deal killed the talks with the Pacers, who have been talking to other teams. Pacers' sources refused to name the teams the club is talking with as to "not pollute the talks" in the press. It's believed the Pacers are closed to the idea of taking on garbage contracts in exchange for Tinsley. They are obviously not looking for star caliber players, but they at least want someone who could play for them, ruling out chronically injured or over the hill types, which seem to be what's being offered the most. The Pacers' source indicated the thought process is it's smarter to hold onto Tinsley and wait for the right deal rather than rush into something that handcuffs the team in the future or brings on assets that limit the team's flexibility going forward. Technically the Pacers do not start paying Tinsley's contract until the start of the regular season - we'll see if the Pacers' stance changes once checks start flowing. The Pacers have set no timetable for moving Tinsley, but are still engaged in talks according to sources close to this situation.
Which is harder, trading Zach when everybody knows you want to do it, or trading Tinsley when everybody knows you want to do it? And who's doing a better job of the two?
i like the round table idea,,,, perhaps near the garden before or after a game, once a month?
Trade Eddy to Washington? I like it, just checked the trade machine, and we could ship Eddy to Wash for Etan Thomas and a few spare parts.
Etan Thomas would give us toughness, D, and shot-blocking, and guess where he's from? HARLEM! Yes, he would bring it for his hometown knicks.
Donnie - I know your apart of Fixer nation and read all the posts, so make this trade happen. Ship out lazy E for tough grinder in Etan Thomas.
Hey Mike...what does Thomas's contract look like? Does it extend past the 2010 season?
If it does....I don't think Donnie will do it.
Hey DaJoka, says he's got 2 years remaining, same as Lazy E.
JEREMY
Channel 51 TV guide for MSG2 in Queens...Enjoy!
Then I would be all for it Mike.
Not sure what Donnie and Dantoni would say but I do know I would jump on that deal in a heartbeat.
