Chandler has 'mild' sprain

MRI today revealed a sprain that the medical staff deemed "mild"....he's listed day-to-day (aren't we all...ba-dum-dum-chhhh).

No official word, but since it's the same knee (left) he sprained in the second-to-last game of the regular season last April, it would likely make sense for Chandler to sit out Friday's preseason finale against the Nets -- redemption minutes for Eddy Curry, woo-hoo! -- to make sure he is 100 percent for next Wednesday's season opener against the Miami Heat.

There's a welcome party for Chris Duhon tonight at the mid-town Pop Burger, hosted by Gotham Magazine, p.i.n.k. Vodka and Chief Executive Air. The event is mainly to celebrate Duhon's Stand Tall Foundation, which intends to refurbish 21 outdoor basketball courts in the New Orleans area that were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Duhon is from Slidell, Louisiana, which is part of the New Orleans metropolitan area.

Duhon's foundation has continued to raise money and donate products to the area after the hurricane hit.

Can we just dump this ENTIRE team and start over? Send them to the D-League. I mean seriously. These are making top dollar in their sport, yet can't win 30 games. Then they want to whine like p*ss*es. Oh, Crawford is benched tonight, let's go console him, help him get through this tough time. Give me a f*cking break already. Curry doesn't want to work out, then doesn't want to talk to the press, as if they cooked the cows he ate. Richardson wants to talk tough every night, but gets embarassed. Malik the leader is shooting 3's.

When Chandler makes a circus dunk, they're acting like high school cheerleaders. When Leon Powe is slapping them around, they're acting like 9th Avenue cheerleaders.

Act like men. You're getting paid like several.

That's good news on Chandler...

let him sit out on fri
and hope he is ready
for the opener

we need Will the Thrill
he is one of the keys to our season

their must be a curse on the knicks
we have had bad luck for years now

Very nice, Harlem!

Sec - just tracked back and saw your Palin screed. She may be the final nail in the coffin of the "Permanent Republican Majority". Perhaps we will thank her come Nov. 4.

Anybody know what's up with Mikeal Pietrus? I thought he was with Orlando, but Hoopshype doesn't have his salary listed. That's a guy I'd trade Jamal for. He plays D, he's big, and he can play 2, 3, or 4. Onliest problem, he's probably signed well through 2010. I think he's a D'Antoni kind of player.

And isn't it ironic, that the coach who supposedly doesn't care about defense, is the first guy I've heard call out Crawford on his D. If I have to watch him dive 6 feet under a screen and peek around the side to see if the ball handler is following, one more time, I'm going to...........

I hear you on Mikeal Pietrus and I've thought he would be a good addition for a while too, especially with his lock down D. Two problems with him though which might make him a bad fit for these Knicks, his J, and his lack of work ethic. He also is yet another SF. For everyone who wants Marion he would be a much cheaper alternative though. Bigger question is what are we seriously going to do with Crawford if he doesn't start to turn this thing around?

Harlem I'm envious of your great rant. I'm going to have to step up my rage to match you now.

Nice "State of the Union" piece that reads like a cut and paste of the Fix. Guy shouts out Alan here, plus "blog comments" about Balkman. Citizen Journalists Unite!

Apparently Pietrus will be starting in Orlando, so its doubtful they're looking to move him. Of course, with the right offer... oh wait, the right offer needs players another team wants.

HarleminMD - couldn't agree more. Its not just that the roster is terribly mismatched, its also larded with guys who are crappy competitors. There is no way Walsh is playing let's wait and see what we have with Q, Rose, Crawford, Curry, etc. - these are known quantities, both physically and mentally. What's frustrating is that they're going to be around until they expire if Walsh won't buy anyone out. Unlike Zach or even Marbury, who could conceivably factor into some trade scenario this year, the only way they are going anywhere is if the Knicks take on equally worthless players.

Willis - good read - I'd love to see the Curry/Crawford trade, though its hard to imagine who would voluntarily take them on. The problem I have with so many trades proposed for the Knicks is that they are way to optimistic. These are players with proven track records for piling up losses when they play major roles. Saying a team that needs low post scoring or help on the wink could use Curry or Crawford ignores the fact that the Knicks needed those things from them too, and still sucked with them in the line up. Curry's lack of defense, rebounding, conditioning and focus are impossible to overcome on a team aspiring to contend - its giving up too much for his points. Ditto Crawford's defense, seeming inability to improve, shot selection and FG %. Its not just that these guys are one dimensional, but that they are huge liabilities in other aspects of the game.

That was "help on the wing" above. Not sure what the other means.
