Check out Jamal Crawford's new blog

Knicks guard Jamal Crawford has agreed to write a blog for Newsday.com this year, updating us on everything from the Knicks' shot at getting back to the playoffs, to his favorite music, movies, style and even his perceptions on fans and the media.

Dorsey is available!!! If we can pick this guy up I will say that the Knicks offseason, despite the Duhon signing, the Danillo draft pick, and not trading any of the bloated contracts is a partial success. He will bring that toughness others have said we are lacking. With him and Ewing J.r., Lee and Chandler we would start to be that workmanlike team of the 90's again. Donnie you MUST sign this kid.

All comments on Crawford's blog are subject to approval. Nice censorship from Dolan's new toy called Newsday.

It didn't take long for Newday to lose credibility.

Alan, you should really think twice about making fun of Starberman since you're officially no better than he is. At least people were allowed to comment on Starberman's blog without being censored. Well for the first few anyway.

Alan, I like you and this is probably not your fault (at least I hope it isn't) but putting a cencorship on Jamal Crawford's blog is weak. I just want to beg him to opt out of his contract so he can leave next summer. What is so bad about that? I know you like him and he does seem like a nice guy but he's a terrible basketball player.

K4L, was Dorsey waived?

@ Philip: I'lll give Willis the credit on this one he posted it first (although I was the first to advocate for Dorsey.

Waive Marbury, Waive Snacks, GET THAT MAN!

From Hoopsworld:

It seems enough is finally enough for the Houston Rockets. They've spent the better part of the summer trying to negotiate with second round picks, and it sounds like they're finally ready to move on. Yes, Carl Landry had a very good rookie season - especially the second half. Yes, it would be nice to have Joey Dorsey in camp. But both players have bigger demands than what the Rockets feel are justified, and this week the Rockets are making alternate plans.

Houston's brass has invited five big men to try out for the team, one of which is former LA Clipper Daniel Santiago. Santiago has just fulfilled a three-year contract with the Spanish ACB's CB Málaga, and is now hoping to resume his career in the NBA. If things don't work out for him to return to the NBA, he also says he'd be happy to return to Europe.

"I'm really at a point in my life where I'm letting God handle all of that," Santiago recently told HOOPSWORLD. "I've done the NBA thing, I've done the Europe thing - I just want to enjoy playing basketball and spending time with my family. I've been fortunate enough to play with some teams that are powerhouse teams, been in the playoffs with just about every team I've played for in my whole career, and that's including the NBA. I feel like anywhere I go I'm going to be blessed and be a blessing to that team. If I wind up in the NBA, great, I'll do the best I can. If I go to Europe, great, I'll do the best I can there. I just want to have a successful career and be a help for the team that picks me up."

While playing for Spain, Santiago established himself as one of the best big men in Europe. He's not an overwhelmingly gifted physical specimen, but he does more than make up for any physical shortcomings with his wide array of skills. He can score from anywhere, even has legitimate NBA three-point range. He's a double-double waiting to happen, is a smart, savvy player. He was working out at IMG a couple of weeks ago where he completely dominated Boston Celtic Patrick O'Bryant in head-to-head competition. Not that it's hard to do that, but Santiago is certainly capable of competing at the NBA level.

If the Rockets are truly committed to moving on, they could do a lot worse than give Santiago another shot at the NBA. His experience and wide array of skills would make him a great asset to the team.

Um, all your comments were posted guys. Just because it doesn't appear immediately doesn't mean it was censored. After some of the posts during the summer, it makes sense to check the comments for offensive or lewd language. But simply hating is still allowed, as is obvious from the comments on JC's blog

@ Sergio,

"I know you like him and he does seem like a nice guy but he's a terrible basketball player."

WTF????

Maybe he doesn't fit your mold of the prototypical basketball player, but to call Jamal a "terrible basketball player" begs me to question your objectivity AND credibility,

I've been a Knick fan for almost 40 years......I watched some great Knick teams during my time, to include the great teams of the 90s anchored by the Big Fella, and perhaps you have as well, and I agree, this current Knick squad turns my stomach most nights, but I noticed that most of your posts are very acidic, almost hostile towards certain players.

I understand that this is a blog, and it's also a free country...but you might want to lighten up on your criticism and comments about some of these players, dude....

You never know who reading this stuff.

CrawFORCE playes his best D under LB, and was actually showing signes of getting better & keeping his man in front of him vs. reaching in for steals & getting beat!

I hope he makes an effort to get back to that type of D, he's definitely quick enough to do it...it's just the will to want to do it that's missing.

knicks fix
nba insider with k-berg
and now jamal crawford

the daily news is concerned right about now.

I don't know how much influence you exerted Alan, but it's great to have a player's point of view (and one who appears to have insight and not be completely self-absorbed). I look forward to his posts.
BTW, no word yet, still hoping to make something happen.

Newsday is the best newspaper web site for Knick fans -- despite my concern over of its owners influence.

Crawford is the best player on the Knicks -- which is not saying as much as he deserves credit for.

People sometimes look at a player's flaws rather than his abilities or the whole picture. Such is the case with Jamal Crawford. On a better team with a solid supporting cast, he would be an all star. Each year he has gotten better. Hopefully as the Knicks improve, in a fast-paced system, Crawford will get the recognition he deserves.

Bronxboy in Md,

You posted verbatum my mind! Crawford is my Favorite Knick,
most likely because I was a gunner like Craw! I never saw a shot I didn't like! I'll bet you didn't either. LOL

@ Knicks4life,
Read some of the NCAA tourney posts and many of us were
zeroed in on Dorsey, Walsh could of had him for 4 months of
the price of Hotdogs Jerome James eats!

@ Alan,
Now you really have to take out a Restraining order on Starberman! You have "J-Chuck" in Da House!

This is from a Memphis newspaper, blog . . . .

RUMOR MILL KEEPS CHURNING: Any potential Memphis deal involving New York forward Zach Randolph is now in the Knicks’ court from what I’m told. The Griz will agree to a package that includes Darko Milicic and Marko Jaric going to the Knicks for Randolph. But Griz brass apparently wants the Knicks to pick up most of the deferred payments owed Randolph in the latter year of his contract.

New York executives supposedly are deliberating. Randolph is owed $14.6 million, $16 million and $17.3 million over the next three seasons.

In short, this seems to be a 50/50 proposition – a scenario that bears watching until the start of the regular season.

Crawford was ready to become a star under Larry Brown, he was playing the best ball of his career for him without question. 9 coaches in 9 years was not good! Playing for Isiah "I change phillosophies like I change my underwear" Thomas was not good!

Still the 20 Pts and 5 Assts last year were nothing to sneeze at. He must improve his shooting percentage through better shot selection. Last year was a clear step back in that category (I'm glad he knows it).

If he wants to be an All Star, in my opinion, he needs to get his shooting percentage up to over 43%. Under D'Antoni, his assists may go down but the Pts (and FTAs) should go up (thoughts?).

Another huge factor to consider is the lack of a real Pt. Guard playing next to him. We all know Starbury didn't make anyone's game better around him, especially not Jamal who often got the rock outside the 3pt line, clock nearly expired after Starbury dribbled it away.

JC's All Star check list:

Shooting % to 43%
Become an "Average" defender (111 Steals in 2003)
FTA over 400

No way! I posted my comments on JC's blog many hours ago and I do not see it or any others there. Tell Boss Dolan that a blog should be immediate and uncensored.

BTW: I did not say anything negative or even controversial on THAT post.

Here goes Newsdays new access to knicks players after the acquisition. We can now start calling Alan "JamAlan CrHahn", the way he loves calling Berman "StarBerman". Or "A Heezy" like they way Jamal like "J Creezy".

Ladies and gentlemen, let the sucking up begin. What's next, offer Big Snacks a forum on why he's so gross and sedentary?

@ Bronx in Md

Playing absolutely no D and scoring 20 points on 40% or below is not a good basketball player.

And I doubt Jamal Crawford or Stephon Marbury care what I write on basketball blogs. LOL I'm just a diehard fan who is sick and tired of these loser players destroying my favorite team.

Sergio - you sound like the loser .What diehard basketball fan thinks its easy to AVERAGE 20 pts per game .You see its a HUGE MONUMENTAL difference between getting 20 points in ONE game and getting it 20 pts EVERY GAME . Its one thing to not care for a players game but please stop acting as though youve been appointed some sort of representative for every fan. Its ridiculous to act as though you have some sort of objectivity when you seem to think that anyone can average 20 pts in the NBA. Yeah jamal Crawford destroyed the knicks you make all diehards look bad with this type of nonsense .

Man Stop HATIN Crawford, Hes the best player we got.. Im excited to see Dantoni Build the Team around this Guy, just wait til the season starts, wilson chandlers summer league was redicilous Gallinari is A nice asset, Q Rich lost Some weight and got faster and God ONLY hopes Curry Did too If Stephon shows up and becomes the player he was about 3 years ago were going to be in good shape. I just cant Wait Til Jerome James is off our BENCH!!!
