Got mad hits like I was Rod Carew

Forgot to mention a record month for hits in July, Fixers. We ranked fourth among the most-viewed blogs on the entire Newsday.com site. Not bad for the "offseason"...can't wait to see what we can do come winter. Fixer Nation is now in the hundred thousands and growing.

Not to beat to death the Allan Houston thing, but his name has come up in the summerball circuit recently. He played in the Nike Pro City league at Hunter and apparently held his own (scroll down the link for the Houston info and a pic).

AH20 put up 25 points in a loss to Ron Artest's squad and showed some flashes of his previous form, according to the report.

Never doubted his shooting ability. What I saw from Houston in his brief, unremarkable tryout with the Knicks last fall was he couldn't run. A year has passed so we'll see if his gimp is gone from his gait.

We may finally have an Eddy Curry sighting this week (quick, someone grab a scale). Curry is on the "celebrity list" for Ben Gordon's Bowling Bash & Celebrity Fundraiser, scheduled for Friday night at Homefield Bowl in Yonkers. Quentin Richardson is also on the list along with Elton Brand, Emeka Okafor and Charlie Villanueva.

Gordon is putting a lot into this event, which will benefit Mount Vernon Mayor Clinton I. Young's "Save Our Sports" initiative. Information on the event is in the link (and, by the way, I've figured out the right way to link so both IE and Firefox users can click away from now on...no more dead links!).

By the way, while vacationing in Florida came across this business venture that I had to share. Perhaps they're looking for someone to open an New York office.

Welcome back. Nice Beastie Boys reference.

Do you think D'Antoni would entertain bringing AH20 in for a look?

Just read the Pro-City comments on Allan Houston. It said that he looked like he was running in pain.

Knick season ticket holder renewals arrived today.

Good news is that MSG has not increased the prices.

Bad news is, its the same team that won 23 games last year.

I hope you and Steve are having a great time in Florida.

lol at the "business venture"

My favorite Beasties/Knicks lyric was always:

"See I got heart like John Starks/ Hitting made sparks/ Pass me the mic and I'll be rockin the whole park!"

Ugh, I meant "mad sparks."

I'm white, but I'm not that white. Although maybe my love of the Beastie Boys says otherwise.

@Across the hudson

don't worry...i am black and i love the beastie boys too.
old school baby...old school.
Paul Revere is da joint

@Alan
now that is a buisness venture...LOL
find out if they need investors.

I guess no news is good news huh?

Keep the no news coming Alan.

Hope you enjoyed your vacation also.

Countown is still on fixers.

Almost here.

@Alan
The numbers are growing because you are doing a great job! You are so active in covering the Knicks -- even on your vacation. Who else covers the Knicks so thoroughly and frequently in the off-season?

Hope you had a great vacation.

Do you think Alan Houston will be able to run or are his knees DOA?

Just wanted to ask what channel and what day and time are they showing the mens basketball games?

@Rey T.

the next game is against angola
on NBC(channel 4 for me)
at 8:00am Tues morning

Alan, can you chase down this rumor . . .

Zach Randolph and the Grizzlies

One predominant trade rumor that's out there is a little bit anachronistic, failing to take into account the radical change of direction in the Knicks' front office. This one has Zach Randolph, who truly is on the table, going to Memphis for Darko Milicic and Marko Jaric. No, it's not that Serbs are simply unpopular in Memphis, it's that neither Darko nor Marko are likely to be huge impact players next season.

Grizzlies Looking at Zach Randolph?

Let's be completely honest about this; Josh Smith never was going to play for the Memphis Grizzlies. At just over $11 million a year, the Hawks were without question going to match what was exactly par with market value for their burgeoning star, especially after losing Josh Childress to Greece.

Now, with only rookie Marc Gasol and perennial disappointment Darko Milicic (who recently injured his Achilles heel), the Grizz are in dire need of some frontcourt help with plenty of money to use in order to get it.

Today's suggestion from Newsday is that Memphis send Milicic and one of Memphis's plethora of talented young point guards in exchange for Randolph. Frankly, his proposal is a pipe dream.

While Randolph certainly would be expendable for New York to add some depth to their point guard corps, Milicic is currently damaged goods and the Knicks have too many guys under contract to take back more than they give up.

Thanks Peace . . this would be a fair deal for both teams as Darko and Marko expire in time for 2010 and the Grizzlies get a better talent and give up very little.

I wonder if its got legs?

i'd do that milicic and jaric deal. darko, for all his deficiencies, is a pretty good shotblocker, and has shown flashes of being able to knock down 15-footers. jaric is effective in an uptempo game, and would slide right into jamal's spot when he gets traded next february. oh, i checked and i think jaric's contract is up in 2011, not 2010. still, it's only for $7M, and he's easier to move than zach.

i saw an NBA promo piece in which celebrities were asked their favorite NBA moment. the beastie boys came on and said their favorite was when john starks dunked on michael jordan in game 2 of the eastern conference finals. and while it's not 100 percent accurate to say starks "dunked on" jordan, my friend jamie said afterwards, "look, he was in the area and he coulda done something about it. and he didn't." good times.

Please trade Zach for anything that expires in 2010!

Awesome Beastie Boys reference! You should use "It looks like rain, would someone on the Knicks please drive the lane" for a future post title. That's a track from HelloNasty.

Jamal will not be traded anytime soon.
