The Clippers tried, the Knicks probably had some interest, but Beno Udrih decided to stick with the team that gave him his shot and re-signed with the Sacramento Kings for the full mid-level.
So much for hearing Chris Russo screaming about Beanie YOO-drogh. And on that note I officially retire that joke.
Sigh.
Chris Duhon and the Knicks seem to be on a collision course, but Duhon will explore all options. In the end it'll be a decision between length of contract or opportunity. With the Knicks, Duhon may not get more than two years, but he'll get the chance to start, which is something he hasn't done consistently since his rookie year.
Of course there's a reason for that, right?
The Knicks have to get a point guard before they can decide what to do with Stephon Marbury. The plan could be to have Duhon "backup" Marbury but get a lot of minutes at the point when Steph slides to the two and Jamal Crawford moves to the three. Yes, that's a small lineup, but Mike D'Antoni often goes with unconventional lineups and can get away with it because of the up-tempo system.
Of course what's swept under the rug here is that Marbury would remain, which is a concern to the locker room as much as it is to the fan base. It's also a major concern to Nate Robinson, who, in this scenario, would be the odd-man out, it seems. Mardy Collins even more.
Stay tuned . . .

Got word that Wilson Chandler recently was cleared for workouts and is expected to participate in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. The games begin July 11, but the Knicks first game isn't until the 14th...MSG Network will be there (as will your beloved blog host), so you will get all the 411 you need on Danilo Gallinari et al.

ESPN reported on SportsCenter that Ron Artest is already regretting not opting out. ESPN wagers he'll be traded by end of summer.
Alan, you aint gonna get a break on the Ron Ron biz any time soon.
Good news on Chandler
I don't understand why the Knicks don't just buy out Marbury. He has been the starting point guard on a team that has averaged 25 wins a year for the past four years. He is universally disliked by his teammates. He is at least partially responsible for the firing of four NY coaches. Most fans hate him. The media (other than Berman can't stand him). Who cares who the Knicks play at point. Anyone would be an improvement.
Cut him already!
Alan
Like your reference to that Alice and Chains song Rooster. That's the first thought that came to mind when I heard that is his Knickname in Italy.
Although KnicksD pointed out the origin of the song Rooster the song lyrics about the Rooster not dying despite people trying to snuff him out came to mind when I heard that the report on him from italy was that he wouldn't back down.
The Knicks can't cut marbury until they get some depth at PG
that is why i think the knicks fans
reacted the way they did to gallanari
we have like 1000 forwards and only three PG/SG on the roster
i still wish they had drafted a PG...they probably should have traded down and drafted "Lil" DJ Augustin
i think this draft season was poorly planned.
we should have picked up another pick so that we
would have had more options.
now we have no leverage with marbury or any nba team
because they know we are desperate to find a PG
we are over the cap and waiting for
our "saviour" lebron james to come in 2010
and save the knicks franchise
so we are only offering two year deals to keep open cap room for 2010
i think this is a silly plan...mainly because it
is based upon a lot of what ifs
and what about now?...what if we put all of this effort into
2010 and Lebron goes to Brooklyn?
what will be the plan when that happens?
thanks for the update on Chandler, Alan.
I imagine if D'antoni wants to run, and chandler recovers 100%, a possible front line could include:
Chandler (3 or 4)
Gallinari (probably play 3 till he fills out)
Lee (3, 4 or 5 in Dantoni's system)
yes, I know that leaves out Curry and Randolph. that's just my preference.
Big guys should hustle and play defense. Lee is not a great defender, but he definitely hustles and gets defensive rebounds.
in any case, just moving one big guy contract (curry or randolph) would be a great accomplishment considering the long-term goals of the New York Knicks.
The Baroness just signed with the Zekes of the West Coast, the Los Angeles Clippers.
Good riddance!
With Marbury on his way to Italy, bet on the Clippers to send The Baroness to Indonesia in a few years.
Losers, whiners, and bums, The Baroness and The Coney Island Cupcake.
Too bad the second-rate hockey writer missed this story. Probably down at Home Depot, placating the Missus.
Make sure to send this thread to Sam Zell. Got to show the Tribune Company's new owner the inefficiency of the second-rate hockey writer he's got covering the Knicks who missed the story on The Baroness signing with the Clippers.
Haven't seen anyone so incompetent, inefficient, and unprofessional since Jim Dolan ran the Knicks - into the ground - for his daddy. Wonder what excuse the second-rate hockey writer will have for Mr. Zell?
Done. Email sent to Mr. Zell's office with a complete screen print.
No doubt Mr. Zell will take things from there.
I believe Mr. Zell sold Newsday to Cablevision.
And Alan Hahn is, by far, the best Knick beat writer and blogger in New York.
omg, second rate anonymous is back. and just when it seemed intelligence and civility were the rule of the day. peaceman, try not to bark or bite back at that dog, you'vr reallymuch sharper of late.
willis, i"m digging on "depradation", thanks.
pete, i agree, just cut the dumb s.o.b., it would be a mercy killing. no one wants to see that jerk in orage and blue again. it would just be a bad way to start the new team out.
as for cheap and short solutions to the pg situation, i always kind of liked arroyo.
"what if we put all of this effort into
2010 and Lebron goes to Brooklyn?
what will be the plan when that happens?"
considering your argument, worse case scenario that lebron signs with cleveland or the nets.
That still leaves Dwane Wade and Chris Bosh. CP3 is working on a contact extension so scratch him from the other candidates not named LeBron.
But right now, our head coach is working with all of the above in a positive way so I think there is just cause for optimism in 2010.
"always kind of liked arroyo"
I watched quite a bit of arroyo's tenure with the magic, where he was a crowd favorite. like so many knick guards, he's pretty good offensively, but not a true pass-first point guard.
it's a coin toss between he and duhon. depends on what mike D is looking for at the one.
I like Arroyo...
he always played better with his
puerto rican national team
not so good with the orlando magic...had alot of turnovers.
maybe it is because his P.R. team plays a more open style offense
are the knicks meeting with arroyo?
Lebron is playing with the KnicksFans.
Heck he'll be a megastar and heartbreaker in three different places.
NJ for getting on Ratner and Sleazy fast track outta of Jersey and into Brooklyn.
Cleveland for shyting on a City and Local Fan base that hasn't known a transcendant player in gosh knows when, and slapping them in the place by reffering to Cleveland as his 5th favorite place. His First Booklyn. Wink Wink Sleazy!
And last but not least NYC, where the myriad of Knickfans and dreamers will have Sleazy, Lebron, and the Rat laughing all the way to the bank on MSG.
Oh I almost forgot. Lebron is working on great Karma by signing on with the 2010 Nets after they have broomed away the remaining low income tenants and Landlords in Brooklyn thanks to the power of public use Eminent Domain!
Ha Ha Ha yuck it up Lebron.
On a different Note. I got a trade Idea which I think will work for the three teams I included in the RealGM trade Checker.
NY has to let go of Lee in this one but it is done to lose Z-Bo's and Jefferies Contracts. Balkman is a throw in to sweeten the pot for the Lakers but may be kept if possible to provide a security blanket in Case Wilson Chandler is not 100 percent.
Knicks get a somewhat productive power foward whose contract expires way before 2010. A Center who is rugged rebounds, and hits the mid range J. Knicks get a filler center for depth.
Knicks can then worry about using their MLE to nab Duhon, if not use it to get Stromile Swift for a short term 2 year deal that replenishes the front line after Lee, Z-Bo, Rose are traded away.
check it out and give me your feed back, chuckles, wisecracks what not
New York ...
Trades to LA Zach Randolph and Ronaldo Balkman
gets from LA Odom, and Mihm
NY Trades to Sacramento...
David Lee, Malik Rose, and Jared Jefferies
gets Mike Miller from Sacramento
Sacramento fowards to LA
Ron Artest
LA Fowards to Sacramento
Trevor Ariza.
I believe this trade makes sense for all involved but please smack me down if you disagree.
Here's the RealGM TradeChecker Link
http://www.realgm.com/src_tradechecker/4/
Perhaps We can try to keep Balkman as a safetynet in case Wilson Chandler isn't 100 percent.
Feedback suggestion?
Alan what do you think?
I agree the knicks should just cut stephon marbury and get him out of town. I don't understand why chris duhon is drawing so much attention. I think nate should run the point, and his numbers will increase like they have every year. At this rate nate next year will average 15 ppg and 5 apg. The kid WILL lead us to the promise land. Jamal or mardy will play point when n8 the gr8 is not in. Our lineup for next year should consist of Nate, Jamal, Chandler, the rooster, and eddy as are starting 5. Of the bench will be Dlee and Zbo coming in together for Danillo and Eddy. This way Eddy and Zbo won't be on the court together, because we saw that that was a disaster last year. Q rich/ renaldo will play the 3 or 2. Once in a while Mardy will get minor minutes at the 1. Then we can wait, see how nate does in a full year of starting, and then go for a pg with the midlevel next year. We don't need to panic know and sign some guy that can't keep his starting job in chris duhon.

kenneth, yes the posting system on this blog stinks, but three post-overs? dude, refresh your browser to check if your post went through before reposting next time. just because you get the message "your submission did not...." doesn't mean that it didn't get posted. hit the refresh.
@O&B i do like the basic parts to your trade proposal: z-bo for odom, i suggested it here recently. odom has played out his welcome there, and i think the lakers could use randolphs inside presence. as for odom, he is a classic talented but enigmatic player, but if nothing else, his contract is easier to swallow than z-bo's, and he is a better fit in d'antoni's system.
@Kenneth
so you want to go into the 08 season
with nate, and mardy collins as your only PGs
remember crawford will be playing most of his time at SG
even if he does not start we still need duhon
or some other PG to give us depth at that position
i like nate but i don't think he will ever be a pure PG
he just wants to score
that is what he does best...he is our best pure shooter
we need someone who justs wants to distribute the ball
David,
Deal's not done. Zell still has the keys to the building. Know your particulars.
