Atlantic continues to rise
Got a text from a well-sourced informant earlier this evening about Elton Brand. "Someone in Philly close to the Brand situation has told me that he just spoke to the Sixers and it's as good as done."
The Sixers were already a playoff team. They still have to lock up Andre Iguodala, but adding Brand to that mix makes them even stronger. If Eddy Curry thought he had his hands full with mouthy Reggie Evans and Sam Dalembert....
Mo Cheeks can play Dalembert with Brand and have Evans come off the bench for rebounding, defense and yapping. Solid front court, especially if that kid Jason Smith starts to develop.
What is curious, though, is that Brand left LA and the chance to team with Baron Davis. This also means the Miami Heat will focus its attention on Carlos Boozer, for sure.
And it means the Knicks continue to see teams around them getting better.
As we discussed here in a previous blog, any lofty expectations of a Knick revival this season need to be squelched. Not only is this going to be a slow and steady rebuild by Donnie Walsh, it's also going to be a difficult environment in which to grow. Gotta have patience, Fixers.
By the way, Chris Duhon can officially sign on Wednesday. May be some news there. Yeah, I know, not as exciting as what they're anticipating in Philly...
Stay tuned . . .

Damn...
the knicks are coming in last in the atlantic for sure
KG,Elton Brand,Paul Pierce all in the same conference
The knicks sign Chris Duhon and the sixers sign Elton Brand
2010 here we come...LOL
Alan, I've got no problem being patient. Ever since this team tanked under Larry Brown, I was willing to sacrifice three full seasons of absolute horrible play if it only meant getting rid of bad contracts and establishing a healthier culture around the team.
Totally agree with Bryan. Let's just hope Walsh is doing it right but it will take time.
Tell us something we don't know. It is NOT news that the Knicks are going to stink for the next couple of years. Hopefully, they will be in the lottery again next year. Those other teams, Philly, Boston, etc., are in a position to add an Elton Brand. They have paid their dues, the Knicks have not. This time is long overdue and we are going to have to be patient with this situation for the next couple of years.
Wow, remember 5 years ago when the West dominated with big men? Its been quite the migration East.
Shaq, KG, Elton, (and to lesser extent) Zach.
Point guards go west, big men come east.
Wait a minute, that being said, WHO IS THE BEST POINT GUARD IN THE EAST? Wade doesn't count as a PG.
Chauncey? Delfino? Andre Miller? Shoot, we may soon be saying Derrick Rose, but not this year.
I guess it would have to be Arenas actually, but he's not the true PG type either.
