Mike brought it up in his post and it gave me an idea. We've all seen the Knicks "Night at the Roxbury" spoof on YouTube and some other clever videos. Here's what Mike was talking about: the Muppet Show out-tro. So right, Mike. The perfect sign-off for the Isiah Thomas era, right down to Statler and Waldorf mocking the show at the end (they would represent the media, of course!).
So have at it, Fixers. I know some of you dabble in the YouTube stuff. Can you rival the Roxbury video with an Isiah Thomas era out-tro, to the Muppet Show theme?

Pete – I remember that, too. And you’re right. Poor Alan – he must feel awfully foolish for not having anticipated that big Knicks winning streak that was going to sweep them into the playoffs. But, hey – credit where credit is due. The Knicks won a game. And a coupl’a weeks ago, they won ANOTHER game. Sounds like they’ve turned the corner to me. From terrible to abysmal.
Isiah has established a culture of losing – so much so that some fans are able to find solace when the team simply manages to play competitively for a few quarters. Since there is pitifully little hope of actually winning basketball games on a consistent basis these days . . . keeping it close for a few quarters is about as good as it gets on 33rd Street these days.
You could argue the high-point of the season was a west coast trip when, we keep hearing from isiah, they were IN every game. They lost 5 out of 5 games. The donut. O fer the west coast. But in the isiah Thomas Era, I suppose you have to consider it a triumph of sorts merely because they didn’t get blown out.
Trane, I agree with you. Isiah's legacy is that the bar for Knick fans has been lowered so far that if the team doesn't get blown out, or competes for three quarters, some people are satisfied.
Another piece of his legacy is that he has taken young players and taught them poor work habits, no accountability, and no fundamentals.
Isiah Thomas has been the biggest disaster for the Knicks since Scotty Sterling. But mercifully, Sterling was fired after a year.
My wish now is that Dolan puts Thomas out of our misery, and fires him now. No need to wait for the season to end.
Zeke has destroyed our young guys. I hope they are not doomed to basketball idiocy for the rest of their careers.
For instance, why is Wilson Chandler shooting one dribble pull up jumpers 6 seconds into the shot clock? He better get his head right, because there are great 1st and 2nd year players out there contributing on good teams (Powe, Maxiell, Stuckey, etc...) who they get PT because they are playing D and rebounding and converting what is there for them in the offense. He would not play at all on those teams with his approach now. On this chucker's paradise, Chandler is getting it all backward. He can play D, which he does pretty much automatically, but his focus is all on the offensive end where he is not that good. His jumper needs alot of work, he's not a fluid ball handler, and he often finishes awkwardly. He will not get to do any of these things on a team that has any notion of winning, and right now, he's playing offense like he deserves 20 shot attempts a night.
Alan - I'm no good with youtube (or proofreading, if you could bear to read the last post) but I have a draft question maybe you (and the fixers) can address at some point:
I understand that Portland has our 2nd round pick, and in fact have a bunch of picks through trades. Given our current projected position at 5, which would seem to preclude a drop-dead pick, a Knick GM might be looking at all sorts of trade scenarios: trading salary for picks, trading pick(s) and salary for desired players, etc... and Seattle, Memphis, Portland, Miami could well be in this mode as well - for instance: how long can Seattle keep drafting a team? What about their problems at center, etc...?
So - who's got what currently? When we look at the draft boards, who's picks are who's? Who are talking about moving picks etc....?
Thanks, Willis – I’ve been ashamed to admit it, but the YouTube challenge is beyond my pitiful analog brain (in a digital world), as well.
My latest fear: While I’m conflicted to some degree when I see all the “usual suspects” being suggested for Isiah’s replacement . . . I realize that virtually anybody would be better, and would immediately enhance our credibility around the league.
Walsh, however, brings a unique factor that should scare the pants off all Knicks fans. He’s already hired isiah once as coach. He is the one possible President/GM who could be brought in who might consider keeping Isiah as coach.
That has to be unacceptable. Isiah can’t remain with the Knicks in ANY capacity. I didn’t think it was possible, but he could actually be a worse coach than a GM – and he’s one of the worst GMs of all time.
Trane - we were just debating that very possibility. It fits Dolan to a T to try to do something like that. The most important factor for me is Dolan. If he doesn't allow autonomy and remove himself from the team, it makes no difference who wears the suit. Dolan hires Dolan every time.
If this isn't a winner then I don't know what is:

This is not an out-tro video but it is utterly hilarious:

Willis – you’re right. And despite the total mess Isiah has made of this team, the buck stops with Dolan. His team. His employees. His responsibility. With Isiah, at least, you can assume a certain amount of basketball intelligence. Whether or not our franchise realized any benefit from it, is a different matter. But the guy certainly comes in with a decent enough track record. Dolan, on the hand, has no track record. And I find very little comfort even in the suggestion he’s thinking about firing Isiah. The fact that he’s in control means it’s simply a matter of dumb luck whether the right person will be hired, and given the proper mandate to stop the bleeding and start to build a franchise out of the wreckage isiah will leave behind.
Trane-I think the high point of the season was Eddy's primal scream during the victory over Denver--what was that, game 2 or 3?
Here is the ending to a club that is in the land of make-believe

AR - again, I'm a little behind the times when it comes to the YouTube challenge. But if you're saying Isiah Thomas turned this club into a Mickey Mouse organization . . . you'll get no argument here.
>For instance, why is Wilson Chandler shooting one dribble pull up jumpers 6 seconds into the shot clock?
Maybe because golden child and co-captain Jamal Crawford gets to as well? Hey, at least he's a nice guy...tsk tsk tsk...

My YouTube skills are pretty much limited to watching. But I appreciate anyone who can create something positive out of this season.
Trane, Willis, david - I'm in agreement with your exchange on the Isiah legacy - both the ruining of the young players and lowering the expectations of the fans. Knicks fans have always had a reputation for their knowledge, etc., and while I know this isn't scientific, it seems I'm always running into people with some interest in the Knicks. That's why it is so depressing to see the MSG crowd cheer staying close to a good team - like an expansion crowd who is just happy to have NBA ball come to their city. I've spent way more time with League Pass this year because the Knicks are so irritating to watch, and that makes it worse. Watching teams like Houston, Boston, Detroit, San Antonio, New Orleans makes me realize how far on every level the Knicks are from being good. The Garden needs an enema.
I thnk Walsh is a good GM, but the Isiah connection is enough to turn me off him completely. Given how everything needs to be gutted, it might not be a bad time to take a chance on a new name, although I have no faith in Dolan's ability to headhunt. I like Carlisle as a coach - look what he did in Indiana after the Weasel was canned. I think Skiles is really overrated though - he deserves some of the blame in Chicago.
Still a few more games for that win streak...

All - sorry about the double post, and thanks for the vids.
* Everytime I check the news, I hoping to see the wonderful news that low-life Idiot ThomASS is out of the picture but no luck so far;
* Dolan should make Izuk Thomas earn his $ 18 or $ 24.0 mil. whatever the balance may be... clean the toilets, car parking attendant at MSG, clean/vacuum/polish the player's truck, etc.
* I'll personally deliver free Chinese food to Dolan's door once he hhas given his FIREING orders :D

I hope bringing in a new GM means bringing in a new training and medical staff. Without a doubt the players need to be held accountable, but if I'm a trainer for the Knicks I'd be embarrassed each time Eddy Curry, Zach Randolph, Quentin Richardson, and Malik Rose take the court. Whenever I see any of those players on the court (especially when they're in there together) I'm literally disgusted because they look so sloppy (their performance reflects it) and out of shape. They must be extremely apathetic to step on the court in front of thousands that out of shape and think its ok. The one commentator for a visiting team this year said Q "just looks puffy." I laughed but he was right on. You can't step on the court looking like that and call yourself a professional athlete.
The best move we could possibly make would be to get that trainer from Denver... Of course I'm being slightly facetious but his energy is great and he's extremely committed to having his players in the best condition possible. If we can't trade Curry, Zach, or Q we need to have somebody who's going to make sure that when they step out on the court that they're in the best shape possible.
Isiah Lord Thomas should be placed in front of a 'FIREING' squad.
