PreGame: Knicks at Sixers

The last game before the trade deadline.

Cue the ominous music.

Despite all of the rumors and crazy scenarios tossed out there lately involving the Knicks, I wouldn't expect anything to happen by the deadline. This would be good news, Fixers. Good news.

“Honestly, you never know," Isiah said. "Until the deadline is over, you never know. You work the phones and you see what’s out there and what’s available and if you can help your team, you try to help your team.”

Clearly Isiah still hopes something may happen.

Be very afraid.

A night after the Knicks have a water fight on the bench and then explode for a record 23-point overtime to beat the undermanned Washington Wizards, the Knicks trudge to Philly to play the Sixers . . . that team they're looking up at in the playoff standings.

Amazing job, that Mo Cheeks. The Sixers - so young, so much cap space - are in a playoff spot.

We asked Isiah about the bench incident and he said he hoped to see more of it.

“I don’t know what happened but I hope it happens again, because after that we scored 23 points in overtime," he said. "Whatever fire was lit, great. Light it again and keep it going.”

These are your New York Knicks.

STARTING LINEUP

KnowLedge- YOU ARE A BIG FAG

It's good to see that not only Knicks fans hate Isiah, but so do their bear writers like Hahn and Berman.

I know I'm not the only one who just doesn't give a crap about this team anymore. I'm done chanting and booing them. This team doesn't matter anymore and won't until Isiah is gone.

The Knicks have gone from underachieving to losing to being an embarrassment to New York and professional sports. And yet, Isiah keeps his job, MSG becomes a tomb, and even the most die hard fans give up and stop watching and attending the games.

Hopefully Isiah will not make any trades, and will get fired sooner rather than later.

And then the entire thing has to be torn down and we need to start over again.

This is a long term project, and that's IF Dolan can hire a qualified manager.

REPOST FROM LAST THREAD:
Here’s a Fixer quiz: Instead of all this speculation about the trades people want, I’m going to ask the opposite question: Who are some of the least desirable players Isiah might be tempted to bring to the Knicks? (What’s the most damage he can do in the next 22 hours?) I think Vince Carter is a good example of a perfect terrible trade. What other current NBA players might Isiah be tempted to bring to New York who might help win a few games in the short-term, but would be as terrible for the team in the long run? Did someone say Wally Szczerbiak?

That means you’re probably looking for players with the following traits: Past his prime streak shooter (can score some points, but not consistently). Plays no defense. Has a very long contract. (And you get extra bonus points if he’s a shoot-first point guard under six feet, one.)

wassup alan

DAMN JUST GOT BACK FROM CALI TURN ON THE TV AND THE KNICKS ARE DOWN 40 POINTS...

to the sixers?you got to be kidding me.
when will isiah's reign of terror come to an end?

god help us knick fans!

OH MY GOD...THE SCORE IS 102-57 SIXERS AT THE END OF 3 QUARTERS!

what is this nba live?
isiah should fired immediately after this game.

no kidding...this is joke.

oh yeah isiah figured it is time to give chandler some burn...

i trully hate isiah.

Trade the whole team, coaching staff, and ownership!!!

I'm with you Jeff.
Alan, is there in anything in the rulebooks that says you can't trade your whole team at one time?

Because if there isn't, then I'm starting to think its a good idea.

Note: I'm just being extremely cynical right now, but thats just because I'm so ridiculously frustrated right now.

I know a lot of you want Nate Robinson starting and a lot of you wanting him is either because from what he did in the Summer League or just because hes exciting player to watch but I am sorry Nate Robinson is best suited for the Bench and coming off of it were he can be most effective and play his style of game...........From what I have seen this year the combo of Crawford and Jones have worked out a lot better then the combo of Crawford and Robinson or even Crawford and Marbury also ask yourself this would you rather have Jones coming off of the bench as the spark plug or Robinson? Look at there numbers................

When Nate Robinson Starts and Fred Jones comes off of the bench:

Nate Robinson's Numbers as a starter:
31% fg - 22% 3pt - 5r - 4a - 12.8p - 38min

Fred Jones Numbers off the bench:
36% fg - 29% 3pt - 1r - 1a - 3.6p - 17min

When Fred Jones Starts and Nate Robinson comes off of the bench:

Fred Jones Numbers as a Starter:
43% fg - 37% 3pt - 3r - 3a - 8.9p - 32min

Nate Robinson's Numbers off the bench:
42% fg - 38% 3pt - 2r - 2a - 11.6p - 23min

Nate Robinson's numbers don't change much from the bench to starting but Fred Jones numbers do a lot and both of them are far better shooters in the reverse roll Fred Jones starting and Nate Robinson coming off of the bench also when we have have both Crawford and Robinson on the court together we are really week at perimeter defense at least Jones is an excellent defender and it allows Crawford to take the weaker guard on the perimeter we he is able to save a lot of his energy for his offensive game

AH: Thanks for trying to keep us sane these past few seasons but I'm done.

Thomas is a disgrace as a coach, GM and a human being as evidenced by the trial in the pre-season.

He insults the intelligence of all NK fans with his forked-tongue, flip-flopping rhetoric. "It's a guard's game". "It's a big man's game". "The big man is being phased out." "My guys' minds were on the trade deadline." I also really appreciate the guy who grew up in Chicago telling me what it's like to live in NYC. He needs to just shut up.

Isiah, you were a champ as a player. You are a chUmp now. You're a disgrace as a coach/GM and this team is an embarrassment. I guess it's too much to ask a bunch of spolied millionaires to actually play like they care.

The coach insults the fans with his words and lack of understanding about how to run a team. The owner insults the fans by not getting rid of the coach/GM. The players, not all, but most, insult the fans by not showing any heart.

I've been a long-time season ticket holder but I'm done.

Wow, impressive research Bobby. Tough to argue with those numbers.

@Trane: OK, I'll play this game.

The worst players Isiah could bring in are VC and Kenyon Martin, but I think it's safe that he's not going to do it. Szcerbiak is a nice one, although his contract is pretty reasonable at this point: just this year and next.

Here's a couple sleepers: Mo Williams, who just signed a long-term deal with the Bucks, who have to be regretting that deal now. Staying with the Bucks, Michael Redd has three more years of getting superstar money for a bad team. Let's see, he's a big name, shoots a lot, puts up nice numbers, make way too much money, and loses the vast majority of games he plays in. To quote our friend Alan Hahn, be afraid. Be very afraid.

The only other thing I can think of is signing Ricky Davis to a mid-level max contract in the summer.

This is all in good fun, though, because I don't think Zeke has anything left in the tank. He knows the situation is hopeless, and I imagine he just wants to be fired.

Now, it's time to make reservations for the lotto. To paraphrase Al Davis, just lose baby.

yo jeff.ive been sayin that for a while..

like i said keep all the youth.trade every1 else for anything..

22 games i predicted N it will be that or less..

zeke best moves were draftin lee N balkman chandler seem good but don't playN i know morris is better than curry overall everything else didn't workout..

I just heard a variation on the Vince Carter rumor that has me more afraid than ever. I now hear there’s a chance David Lee will be part of that deal, along with the Fred Jones contract. I’ve never been of the opinion that Lee is untouchable. I think the new GM has to have total flexibility to build the franchise in any direction he wants. But David Lee and the Fred Jones contract are two of the VERY few legitimate assets this team has. To flush them down the toilet on a past his prime shooter, just so Isiah Thomas can desperately try to save his job (s) another year is shameful.. It’s bad enough they’re even thinking about Vince . . . but to give up Lee in the process would have to be a new level of incompetence, even for Isiah. What frightens me the most . . . I believe Isiah is capable of making that deal.

But this is a nightmare scenario . . . it probably won’t happen, right?

this is the worst team in sports history.

Hey, Willis -- I know you're particularly interested when it happens at MSG. But here's another one for your list. Yes, basketball fans, another NBA player had a career-night against our New York Knicks. According to Alan on Newsday.com:

" . . . rookie Thaddeus Young had a career-high 20 points off the bench for Philadelphia . . ."

One thing hasn't changed. Teams love it when the Knicks come to town.

Alan, today will be the longest day of my Knick fan life. If I see another crap Isiah trade, that will just about do it for me.

D-Day. In the words of a wise man: Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Why would this be a good idea?

Also, a league source told The News that the Bucks' owner, Milwaukee Sen. Herb Kohl, yesterday rejected a trade that would have sent Randolph and either Fred Jones or Jared Jeffries to Milwaukee for a package including Bobby Simmons, Charlie Bell and Dan Gadzuric, who all have long-term contracts.

I am convinced Zeke's main goal all along was to drive this franchise into the ground...that's why he's always smiling & laughing. Everyone sees it but Big Dumb Jimmy D...FOOL!

I'm curious. Would anyone of you be willing to trade David Lee for Charlie Villanueva of Milwaukee?

I feel like a condemned man waiting to be lead to the executioner. I am literally watching the seconds tick by praying that Isiah does not take on additional salary for more years. Please Please Please Isiah....I beg on behalf of all Knicks Fans....No more Salary...No Long term deals.....Let the man do whatever he wants as long as it cuts salary or improves cap flexibility and keeps this years pick intact. But hey lets face it...what are the chances of that happening...Probably just as good as the chances of us all watching the knick debut of Vince Carter early next week.
