PreGame: Knicks at Warriors

Eddy Curry admitted the other day that this game against the run-and-gun Warriors could see him on the bench a lot. Isiah Thomas didn't seem to want to surrender as easily.

"It could either be our problem or their problem," Isiah said at the morning shoot-around. "Depends on who gets the better of whom. They have two small offensive players playing against our two big good offensive players. It just depends on who gets the better of who. Some nights the small guys win, some nights the big guys win."

Don Nelson talked a lot about Chris Webber. Sounds like the Warriors are pretty close to bringing him in.

Enjoy the game.

Collins, yo

3rd quarter. B. Davis is a beast!
if we get curry off we can get this one.

balkman might have just made one of the best def. plays of the year!!!

Isiah was too slow with the substitutions in the 4th, but thats not on the players. I'm happy with the effort and grit. They're starting to show they're capapable of competing with anyone. This was one of the games where you hold your breath before the tip and hope they don't get blown out, but they definitely held their own. No moral victories but everybody can learn and grow from this (Nate with the timely turnovers and fouls;Isiah with the slow substitutions in the second half).

Haven’t been able to check in much . . . but the thread on guard play was first-rate. Good work. For me, the moral of the story is we have a lot of disparate pieces of talent that don’t add up to an NBA roster. It’s folly to think we’re playing our best ball with Jamal Crawford running the team. And our best assist man is turning out to be Nate. Neither of whom should start on an NBA team. Both could be incredibly valuable additions to a great team.

Hey, Willis – I hope you noticed that Andris Biedrins had a career-night against the Knicks tonight. Are you keeping a list? Somebody should.

As for Reggie Miller as coach? I guess at some point you have to let bygones be bygones . . . but Reggie Miller? After so many daggers in our back? That’s as ludicrous as bringing in Bill Laimbeer (who, in a weird way, is making a case for himself as an NBA coach one day) . . . or . . . Isiah Thomas.

The guys played hard and the Knicks are now definately a team you can cheer for. Not sure why the focus of the article was on Eddy Curry and and that Biedrins dude...yeah he had 25 rebounds. 22 were defensive not like it made that big of a deal in the outcome of the game...he wasn't pounding the O glass and getting second and third possessions for his team or anything. I agree with Ben who said Isaiah is too slow with his substitutions. I also think Curry should move to the 2nd team to because him, Zbo and Jamal are too bad on defense to play together. Jamal definately did not give an honest effort on D last night. Overall I didn't expect to win that game and I was hoping for a good showing and got it so...oh well lets see what happends next game...Go Knicks!

On the road and notable to catch the games. How is Collins looking?

I feel we may have to go to the D league to find a center who can block shots and score and rebound. Curry needs to be traded in the worst way. Then we may consider a eighth seed.

Whoowee, Andris got his career stat for sure. Most of those rebounds seemed to come over the back of the slow-twitch Curry. Trane, he has entered the hallowed circle, but he hasn't achieved full honors yet. For that he has to do it in The World's Most Famous Arena, like his fellow inductee, Kendrick Perkins.

I have to say that Curry actually looked good, other than his non-boxing out. By good, I mean he seemed engaged in the game, not floating around. What I would do with him is give him the ball on the move more, and give him more faceups. When he can slide down the lane and use those excellent hands on lobs he has such agility, he always gets a great finish. he actually finishes stronger on these high degree of difficulty catch and lays than in his post moves, and everybody on the team loves to throw those passes to him. Let Zach have the post ups and have Curry diving in to receive passes or get offensive boards. He's got great feet and hands, he just can't get them working quick enough - probably because he plays with a 5th grader strapped to either buttock. But when you get that load started, nobody can really match his agility and size. Keep him active by design, and he'll be more effective.

I thought the knicks played their best half of basketball this year in the first half with Collins running the show. They had a game plan and executed. How is it that Crawford is never takenn to task for his malpractice on the defensive end. Montae Ellis scored on him three times in a row, with Crawford looking down at his watch to see when it was time to play offense. That's the other reason we can't have him as the point guard - he needs to sit when he gives up points. Most of the time, teams take leads or regain leads against the Knicks because of Crawford's no-D. Sickening really.

Baron Davis is WHAT! He broke poor Nate's head open last night in the 3rd. That was where we lost it. Nate went back to Bad Nate, and we never recovered. But hey, that cat does that to everybody.

Happy to have seen 8 games of basketball, 8 games with purpose, and 8 games of Zach Randolph passing and thinking and looking like the great player he is. I'm having fun. Let's see if they start to hate losing now that they see they can win if THEY PLAY THE RIGHT WAY....hmm, who said that?

Two additional thoughts:

1. Baron Davis is the player that Marbury thinks Marbury is.

2. Take a look at the Warrior's full roster. You will say WHO? alot. Just goes to show what good coaching and roster to match the system can do. Looks alot like the Knicks - young guys, guys who have (or will) bounce around, role playerss, nothing really special outside of Davis, but man they make good lemonade over there. No reason the Knicks couldn't do that

Where's is the Jerome "Junk Yard Dog" Williams. Bring him out of retirement. He will stop guys moonwalking to the rim and strike some fear to the other teams players. LOL...
