PreGame: Lakers at Knicks

The Kobe Kraze...ain't nothing like it. Not even LeBron gets this kind of rock-star treatment here at the Garden. It's a shame he only makes one visit a year.

Kobe could reach the 20,000 point plateau today here on one of his favorite stages in the game.

The celebrity list is a long one today. Jerry Ferrara, Rosie Perez (somebody get an ice cube), Q-Tip, Pearl Washington, Michael Ray Richardson, Jadakiss, Marilu Henner, Ed Lover and Charles Oakley, who they had better give some GardenVision love to this time.

Enjoy the game.

STARTING LINEUPS
KNICKS
Randolph
Richardson
Curry
Crawford
Jones

LAKERS
Odom
Radmanovic-*
Bynum
Kobe
Fisher

*- Luke Walton is out with a sprained ankle.

**- Stephon Marbury will not play. Isiah Thomas said he spoke with him on Friday, but hasn't since. Interesting situation developing here. Marbury has filed a grievance for the fine the Knicks slapped him with for missing that game in Phoenix last week.

Coaching totally blew this one... With one full and one 20-second timeout and 4 seconds to go, they waste the 20-second timeout. When David Lee didn't have a good pass, the 20-second would have been quite useful...

WOW! Isiah just said "we probably have the wrong guys starting, and we'll look to change the lineup". We'll see what happens there...

Finally, the 'profit' Isiah came out public and declared that they'll be changes to the starting 5.

Most likely:
* Lazy Butt Eddy on the bench and either DLee/Rose starting;
* probably more face time for Balkman & N8;
* maybe less time for JJeffries, & Q;

When what's his name come back, he probably get less p/t too.

It's about time Idi Amin recognized the need for the change(s).

Curry must be taken out of the lineup. He's useless. Thanks, Isiah, for giving up 2 lottery picks for this bust.

i was at the game today. it was too much of a holiday/kids crowd to get the fire isiah chant going. however i heckled the false profit loud enough to draw the attention of a ny post reporter, who interviewed me for a story they are planning about this mess next sunday.

curry needs a medical leave, there is clearly something very wrong with him.

oh yeah, i forgot to mention something i found particularly outrageous about today's game, and that is really saying something given the state of affairs with this organization.

there was no mention, either from the p.a. or on the scoreboard, of kobe passing the 20k point plateau (the youngest ever to reach this mark).

can dolan spell C-L-A-S-S-L-E-S-S ?

why the hell would the knicks say anything about kobe bryant scoring his 20,000 pts? This isn't his home town, we shouldn't praise opposing teams players accomplihsments i dont think thats classless at all. idk what ur thinking

Im sorry, but I'm tired of this.
Even wins are'nt enjoyable

I thought the knicks where better without marbury. u see how important he is to this team, without him, the knicks have no penetrator, they turn into a jump shooting team and if they don't fall, the get blown out in a game. i will not say marbury will help the knicks to the post season but at least when he is committed to playing hard, he will give u 100% of effort. lets not forgot about the 2005-2006 knicks who went on a six game winning streak with a focused stephon marbury to led this team before he went down with an injury. isiah needs to let marbury be himself, let him play the game like the way he is used to playing thats how u can get the best out of marbury. am sick and tired of people saying he is a selfish player, if he was selfish, he wouldn't be averaging 7.9 assist in his career.

Curry isn't lazy he's completely out of shape. It's not that he's not trying hard, it's simply that he can't. Who can blame him he gets paid to play not workout.

As for Marbury not being selfish you have to be kidding. Watch Marbury after he gets dusted on defense and see if he doesn't try to beat the entire opposing team going one on five to prove his so called manhood. Not to mention only trying on offense, leaving the team because Isiah said he wanted more out of him. Funny how he can't play because he is so bereaved but he has no problem filing a grievance to get money he didn't earn.

Hopefully will finish low enough in the standings to get a high pick and take Derrick Rose a point guard who plays defense amazing.

Wow Alan,

I really feel sorry for you having to watch Team Titanic, day after day. At least you have a good sense of humor, the Extreme Makeover Spoof was perfect. I watched a little of the first half today, and then went shopping with the wife. Facing crazy Christmas shoppers and traffic is more enjoyable then watching these Knicks.

The Knicks are the most dysfunctional I've ever seen them. Firing Thomas will only be the first step. This whole horrid team and coaching staff has to be dismantled and a new one assembled, that will take time, or immense amounts of buyout money, considering that so many of these contracts, are untradeable.

Poor Eddy Curry, the big goofy kid who wanted to be a gymnast, but whose size forced him onto a HS basketball court. He simply doesn't want to be out there. If ever there was someone who needed to go to major college program for 4 years, it's him. Too late now, he'll never be any good, especially not with guards who can't even get him the ball.

Q Rich is simply terrible. Get him off the court. His career is over. Why not play Balkman and Chandler?

Crawford may be the most inconsistent player in the league. He hasn't strung together 5 consistent good games in his whole career.

And how did Jeffries beat out Randolph for that Indiana basketball HS award? The guy airballs more freethrows then Chris Dudley. He has no outside shot at all. I suppose we should just be thrilled that he plays, compared to our other Isiah Thomas 30 million dollar contract.

The only players worth keeping on this team are David Lee and Balkman and maybe Chandler (don't know, never seen him play). They are decent role players with reasonable contracts. Everyone else must go.

LGM, I've been saying this from Day One. Use Q-Rich, Jefferies, Mardy Collins and an expiring contract and get Ron Artest. Jamal Crawford is a Vinnie Johnson type player, except he plays no defense. Bring him off the bench to be your scorer when Z-bo takes a rest. Eddy, you wanted to be an All-Star, what happened? Last year you were clearly a better player than Dwight Howard. See where hard work gets you!!

an nba coach has to distribute 240 minutes a game. based on what we have seen out of the knicks roster this season, this is what i think would be fair. i put my starting 5 on top of the list, with the assumption that, depending on defensive match-ups, lee or jefferies plays center.

lee 36
jamal 40
jeffries 18
n8 32
zbo 36

jones 12
Q 16
balkman 20
curry 12
chandler 4
collins 2
rose 12
marbury 0

the knicks aint gonna have a lottery pick cuz zeke is planning on trading it...remember i said it first.crawford an curry is a great package for a trade.fred jones is a bench player i guess collins is injured cuz he can play the point better than any1 on the knicks exclude starbury.(jeromeJ is the best player the kinkcs eva signed)....chandler can play but i think zeke doesn't like him so he don't play him an playz foolz..stay tuned for more KnowLedge

So did Oak get some love this time?

a little article sunday quoted Jacklson as acknowledging that it's hard to almost impossible to win when all around are waiting for failure. thomas has promised changes.

He tried starting with the best scores, hoping that they would play enough defense. They haven't, so now more of the players that will play defense first will get a chance.

It's all about finding the right mix... or we can just join the 10 year olds and chant who suxks and who should be fired and believe that something positive is being accomplished for the Knicks team...
IF you can't support them take your ball, go home and find some other playmates... stop trying to win over people that don't agree with your view... let us ignore you if we want... and you can do the same..

Skiles is fired and out of Chicago.

The irony of the game was Jackson leaving his bench in there to lose the lead and have his starters try to keep it and win the game.

Zeke had his starters blow the lead and had to have bench try to overcome it. Zeke was fighting for a win while I think Jackson was using the Knicks to personaly challenge and prepare his team. Scrimmage at the Garden.

Zeke has to make moves or risk losing his job. We need young players, expiring contracts, and draft picks. Even if he get's fired it will leave rebuilding tools for the franchise.

Jeffries should've been inbounding the ball.

Marbury is not the only player to be blamed for the knicks failure, how about blaming the other guys on the team, i will describe all the players on the knicks roster and their game.
Jamal Crawford: Inconsistent, barely plays defense and like to jack up shots even when he's off, turnover prone
Eddy Curry: plays no defense, turn the ball over, get overly frustrated when he is not getting the ball
Zach Randolph: plays no defense, turns the ball over, doesn't like to pass when doubled and tripled teamed
Nate Robinson: the energy, gets over zealous, plays with heart, the coach don't give him minutes
Stephon Marbury: very tough, too sensitive, sets up his team mates but they often miss which he gets frustrated, quick temper, very active when he is played to his potential
David Lee: the heart and soul of the knicks, rebounds, plays defense, hustles, need to work on his jump shoot
Fred Jones: not ur typical guard, plays defense, doesn't have the touch to be a shooting guard
Ronaldo Balkman: hustles, plays defense, runs the flow but lacks the mid range jumper
Jared Jefferies: plays defense, can run the offense, can guard all positions, need to work on his free throws and jumpers
Malik Rose: plays with heart, old school and also the leader of the team if he is giving ample time on the court
Wilson Chandler: very athletic, needs to get playing time, and also has a good basketball iq
Quentin Richardson: plays defense, the leader on the team, lost his touch and needs to get back in playing better
Mardy Collins: runs the floor better than jamal and nate, plays solid defense, he needs to develop a mid range jumper
Thats about it and for those who still claim stephon is selfish, who is more selfish than zach randolph and jamal. they hoist up shots even if they are double teamed, off balance. jamal is a good player who can contribute and shine when coming off the bench

So Skiles was fired in Chicago. I wonder if we'll hear from the people who were criticizing the harsh treatment of Isiah in the media by comparing the situation here to Chicago. Let's see, the Bulls MADE the playoffs last year, and yet when the coach lost the team they let him go. Here, well, you know...

I read a quote from Skiles saying how he always stressed accountability, and now he was being held accountable. A bit different from the crap that Isiah serves up. If I hear one more time that the Knicks are "finding their way", I'll scream. He's supposed to be a coach, not a youth councillor.

Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays to Alan, all the Fixers and the Knicks fans everywhere. May the New Year bring better times!

^^^^ ...I think thats the first time I've seen a newspaper call out another publication like that, and the quote from the editor of The Daily News seemed to basically substantiate everything that was said about them.

SUGAR RAY RICHARDSON IN THE HOUSE!!!!

WILSON CHANDLER...WHY DID I.T.EVEN DRAFT HIM?

he keeps playing Q Rich.i've been saying this(and i like q rich bty) but he is shot.why not play chandler to see if he can guard somebody...

THIS GUY HAS ALOT OF POTENTIAL.ALTHLETIC LIKE BALKMEN BUT HAS AN OFFENSIVE GAME.

i don't understand isiah's reasoning...

WE NEED GUYS THAT CAN SHOOT.

I WANT CURRY TRADED BUT WITH HOW HE HAS PLAYED SO FAR WHO WILL TRADE FOR HIM?

only a sucka....(oh but isiah gave up two draft picks for this bum)

FIRE ISIAH! DUMP DOLAN PROTEST & WALKOUT
CLOTHING DRIVE TO BENEFIT NYC’S HOMELESS SHELTERS

SUNDAY DECEMBER 30, 2007 AT 11:00 am
IN FRONT OF MADISON SQUARE GARDEN

PROTEST = Stand with us outside the Garden, Be Heard.
WALKOUT = We are encouraging all fans that attend the game against the Bulls to make a statement by leaving the Garden at the end of the 3rd quarter and join us in our protest.
BENEFIT = Donate a clothing item to NYC’s homeless shelters for those less fortunate.

Due to disgrutled fan demand the protest has taken a little twist. We have decided to add James Dolan, Owner of The New York Knicks to the cause. Although Isiah is directly responsible for the debacle taken place with OUR team for the past 4 years, James Dolan is just as responsible overall. Furthermore, it’s James Dolans arrogance and and ignor-ance to do NOTHING to help this team and the changes that NEED to be made. It seems that everyone knows there is a problem besides him. The state of this team has reached a new low.

Why should we have to suffer for the doings of amateur, inexperienced, immature and uneducated ownership and management. All the while being blatantly conceited and arrogant about it!

The time has come to stand and unite. Power in numbers!

This also happens to be the day the Knicks have a home game against the Bulls which will most likely end up being another pitiful Knick lost. An ironic punctuation to an already pathetic season.

Although this protest has been initiated virally via blogs, podcasts, webcasts, various media outlets and personalities have already expressed interest and support for this protest. Their identity will come on the days prior to and the day of the protest.

So when you’re sitting there on a dark, cold winter night, this year, next year or whenever and OUR Knicks are losing another game (hopefully not by more than 20 points again), remember that someone organized a forum for you to voice your opinion. Be able to say to yourself, “I did all that I could” and be at peace with yourself instead of never doing anything. Accept mediocracy and that is what you’ll get. I never claimed that this would solve all of the Knicks problems but to do or say nothing is the real crime.

Don’t let the nay Sayers be right when they say, “Knick Fans aren’t passionate enough about OUR team and will never come together and voice their opinions. They don’t care that much about their team” I say “They are ALL wrong!

Driving by or waiting to see coverage via newspaper, web or television will not do. In order to make our point, attendance by all disgusted Knick fans is needed. Please support the efforts and message of this protest.

We’re not pompous or foolish to believe this protest will be the fix to end all problems with our NY Knicks. As die-hard fans that have suffered tremendous anguish watching this ownership and management dismantle and ruin this proud franchise and everything it stands for, our Knicks. The laughing stock of the NBA. WE MUST BE HEARD!

Please show your support Sunday, December 30, 2007 in front of MSG “The Worlds Most Famous Arena” with the “Most Pathetic Basketball Organization!”

I can be reached via email at joeyvworks@yahoo.com. Also respond if you are interested in receiving the daily protest email update.
