Stephon will start. Eddy Curry, who rolled his ankle during the walk-through on Wednesday and had to sit out the game against the Nets, is back, too. Isiah Thomas said Curry "had a good workout" in the morning. "He didn't trip on any lines," Thomas added.

Enjoy the game. Considering the weather, I think I'll have to skip my traditional post-game cheesesteak run and just focus on getting on the road back to Long Island. Thanks to some of your comments and emails, I have some new places to check out.

I would like to know ,what has Nate Robinson done to Isiah ,that he gets pulled out the game when he brings the Knicks back? Fred jones needs to work on his offensive skills in order to deserve playing time over Nate.I have been an Isiah supporter, but I don't understand his sub patterns. Zach was having an off night, and you don't revert to letting Eddie Curry carry the team. We were controlling the game until you tried to force Zach to be the man tonight. Please get it together Isiah. This loss is definitely yours. Then you get beat by Louis Willaims.
i"m so happy that i didn't watch tonight.
My biggest fear is that we already know what the year is going to be like. That the year will keep going just like it has so far. They'll win one, maybe a couple, and everybody will start talking about what they need to do to turn it into a run. But they continue to lose 2 or 3 for every 1 or 2 wins.
Remember the hot question around opening day? Predicting how many games they'd win this year? A lot of low- to high-40s, but not a lot of 30s. Based on where the team is now, I'm not sure they're as good as last year. Even assuming they have to get better, simply from playing with each other more . . . is it rational to predict more than 33 to 35 wins? Let's just say, something is going to have to change pretty dramatically before I can imagine them even getting in the neighborhood of a .500 record. And, like last year, even if they have a nice stretch where they win as many as they lose . . . they've already got a hole to dig out of. Let's put it this way . . . the team that takes the court every night now could certainly use a lottery pick. And this year at least, we have one.
What is so frustrating is that the Sixers have two pieces that the Knicks could really use - Dalembert and Miller. A center who can rebound and block shots and is active around the basket, and a point guard aho doesn't force the issue and distributes the ball.
I've been saying for a while that Isiah doesn't get it strategically, either as a game coach or as roster manager. His weird substitution patterns and force feeding Zach or Eddy so much are examples. The offensive strategy seems to be pound the ball to those two and hope Crawford gets hot freelancing outside and a few of those off balance threes go in. If the team hits over 50% then they win by 4. If not...
I know I'm oversimplifying here but it seems that if they can't change some of the personel and if Isiah doesn't quickly improve as a coach, I don't see how the team is going to improve. What is the next step forward?
Is it bad playing or bad coaching? Isiah knows the equation.
Curry Start = Knicks Loss
Curry gets beat by athletic players that can go right to the basket at will (90% of the league). He got one deflection and expected a defensive player the year trophy. Laughing an smiling on the side line with Marbury. Looking like I did my part.
Crawford, Lee, Jones, looked pist. They should start. Because they care if they lose.
Starting the game with teams that can penetrate the post at will gives other teams confidence early in games. Isiah has so much loyalty players which don't deserve a start. They need to change the starting line up. Curry to the bench is a start.
I have a conspiracy theory for the real reason Steph played last night. If the Knicks win multiple games without Marbury, Curry. They would be in jeopardy of losing there starting roles. Good! Again, no one knows the real reason why Marbury came back so soon. To prove you cant win with out me- maybe. I mean he got no play for the entire second half of the game. My mind just wonders.
C’mon, guys – you know what’s happening here. Assuming for a moment it makes sense to bring Curry off the bench . . . Isiah-the-coach will never make that move because of how bad it would make Isiah-the-GM look. You don’t give away 2 first-round picks etc. etc. for a 2nd-unit center. That trade was predicated on Curry becoming the Beast of the East. Anything short of that, and the trade is a total failure. Isiah would never acknowledge it. Look how long he played Jeffries last year, when he was clearly hurting the team. Again, because it justified the move that brought him here. His play on the court certainly didn’t justify the starting role. I don’t imagine Isiah would allow himself to relegate Curry to the 2nd unit anytime soon.
The Bulls signed Nichols last night.
AR - I think we basically agree. Playing guys out of personal loyalty is a type of bad coaching, because the coach controls the substitution patterns, but its not bad x and o's. So yeah, it is bad playing, but the good coach gets the bad players off the floor.
I can live with Crawford - he seems to care (that's where my bar has slipped to). I'll give Marbury a pass for last night because he looks an emotional mess, but it's not like he was piling up the wins before his personal loss. And Curry - he's had three coaches (Skiles, Brown and Isiah) who are all pretty different in their approach, and he's been the same slack, no effort guy for all of them. He is what he is.
I'd like to see what the guys like Jones, Lee, Balkman (remember him?) Nate, Chandler even, can do with some extended minutes. Losing with hustle is no worse then losing because of laziness or an inability to play together. But if Isiah is totally committed to the idea of playing mainly those guys that he gave up a lot for, then I don't see how to avoid a lot more uninspired losses and maybe growing resentment from the other guys (who did look p.o.'ed).
If Isiah really wants this team to win and not get fired. He will have to change the line up and take the hit for the mistakes. If Steph or Curry gets benched what is the worst that will happen. They would demand a trade?
As we continue to lose and no attempt is made to resurrect this season then it is evident he will be fired. Because, NY is not going to except losing and no real change is coming. Loyalty and losing are a great recipe for change.
Never thought of Steph as a victim. Read the newspaper. Still don't think he's any victim.
AR: Remember when Eddy Curry said if Isiah Thomas gets fired he is out out of here too? Tomorrow is not soon enough for me. Everyone just runs around this guy. It's pretty bad when even the Knicks radio announcers question what this guy is doing out there. Last night they were laughing at him because he was trying to dribble. I agree with Pete also. Curry is what he is and Isiah stuck us with him. Sad..
Pete-I agree on the PG/C from philly thing.
Trane-I could have picked 20 others teams I would want Nichols to go too. Damn Bulls. You're also right about Curry and relation to draft picks.
WATCHING THE KNICKS IS LIKE WATCHING A BAD HORROR MOVIE!
they make the same mistakes time and time again...just like old horror movies they do stupid stuff that makes them deserve the bad outcome.
ISIAH HAS GOT TO REALIZE HIS MISTAKE...TRADING FOR CURRY WAS A HORRIBLE MOVE.
the league is moving more toward athletic power forwards that also play center(dwight howard,LaMarcus Aldridge,....even tim duncun is a power forward masquerading as a center)
CURRY IS A DEFENSIVE LIABILITY EVERY TIME HE ON THE COURT.
isiah better get a clue quick or his ass is headed for the unemployment line...
AND THE KNICKS ARE HEADED FOR THE LOTTERY!
