Stephon is AWOL

p144.jpgAnd now for the latest Knicks controversy.

Stephon Marbury did not participate in this morning's shoot-around here in Phoenix, where the Knicks play the Suns tonight at U.S. Airways arena. Isiah Thomas acknowledged that Marbury was not with the team but said the veteran point guard would be welcomed back if he showed up in time for the game.

Right now, it appears Mardy Collins will start at the point against Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns and Nate Robinson, who says his hamstring is fine, will come off the bench.

Thomas repeatedly called the Marbury situation "an in-house matter" but offered enough information to suggest that Marbury bristled at the coach's displeasure with his play five games into the regular season.

Remember, at the end of the preseason, Thomas warned that the Marbury "we saw last November, we better not see that player this November." Last season Marbury was admittedly not in good condition and struggled to conform his outside-in game into Thomas' inside-out gameplan. But by midseason, Marbury was perhaps the best Knick night-in and night-out.

So what changed since then? Thomas wouldn't say. "In-house matter," he said.

Thomas would say what he expects out of the point guard spot and added that he believes Marbury can fill this role.

Thomas also called out Eddy Curry and Jamal Crawford, two other leaders on the team, for their performance so far in the early season.

Stay tuned . . .

For Sale: Red, White, Blue fan-pattern high-top Starburys, Size 9 1/2, no (reasonable or unreasonable) offer declined. Low mileage, worn only after Knicks victories.

If roles are defined I am O.K. with this. Actually, I would expect this from Isiah.

anyone else find it strange that mardy collins is being rewarded? lets not forget he missed 2 HUGE free throws last game. Without Stephon, the knicks offense will run through curry and we know how ugly that can be. I dont see them scoring 100 pts a game with Collins crawford qrich randolph curry, unless they are giving up 150.geeeeez its always somethin with this team

Alan thanks for the audio. Isiah is a man of his word.

How about Fred Jones starting to me I think Jones can play better defence and hit his outside shots.

Just bloggin

Uh-oh. I'm no Marbury hater, but this fiasco certainly does not bode well. I really thought the Knicks needed a poised and mature Marbury to succeed this season, and I actually thought that's what they were going to get. If Marbury really did take off, it's a huge problem. You don't abandon your team on a road trip, no matter what Coach says to you. He'll be alienated from his teammates, management, fans... looks like that trip to Italy may be coming sooner than he planned.

That said, it's odd that this should go down now, as Marbury has looked okay to start the season (not great, but certainly serviceable). His turnovers have been down, he has been aggressive going to the basket, and he's gotten his teammates involved. It's true, he got torched by Jameer and Iverson, but he actually played pretty decent defense on Williams and Telfair (Gibson went off on the Knicks but they were in a zone for much of his hot streak, and sharp shooting always busts the zone).

I'm inclined to buy the "Dolan/Scapegoat" conspiracy theory. Remember when Dolan publicly criticized Sprewell's "character," when Spree was the one Knick who brought it night in, night out on a weak team? I'm sure listening to Marbury on the witness stand this summer did not sit well with born-again Jimmy. I wouldn't be surprised if Dolan told Isiah that Marbury had to be axed, and if Isiah cut him loose to save his own skin.

Whatever the case, I don't think Marbury's play over the first five games of the season warrants a benching. Maybe a short leash, maybe you put in Collins when Nash goes 3-for-3 to start the game, but a benching? We're missing a big piece of this story.

What is going on with this team? Fire everyone!!

Steph if you are going to read this, DONT DO THIS MAN. Humility is still one of the best keys to success. If you are having difficulty playing "D" play harder. Lets go on and win man. Do it for yourself and New York

1 luv

nate should be starting over mardy (i barely hit rim on a foulshot) collins

Marbury has never had a better chance or a more stalwart support than under Zeke. Maybe this is part of the problem. Brown and Marbury don't see eye to eye? Its Brown who leaves. I guess everyone figures it became more about Zeke not admitting a mistake than faith in Marbury. After last season it was clear what Crawford and Marbury had to do for the Knicks to win games. Its always been the same thing, since they were brought here, and now Zeke's job is on the line (must be) so there is no more time. They do not win basketball games, so they can't be the guys out there at winnng time. Mardy Collins runs the club, he's not being rewarded, he's just the guy who has the kind of game that makes a basketball team win. I'm glad he's been given the ball, he'll take his lumps, but he's a Point Guard who plays D, and plays the game intelligently and intuitively, and makes the game flow for everybody.

If Marbury can't handle being part of a team, which it seems his AWOL indicates, there really is no argument anymore. Alas, in his last chance at redemption in the NBA, in his home town, with a coach/GM/President who made it his personal mission to bring his talent into the cause of winning, he has failed. Time's up. And we are the last team to become better by getting rid of Marbury.

Stephon - prove me wrong.

mike,
Ive been trying to telepathically plant those notions in Steph's mind since he got here.
Charles is right, we dont have the whole story at this point. Lets give Steph a chance to make a statement, or hopefully just come back after blowing off some steam.

Is this a panic move by Isiah?

I laughed a little to myself with all the defensive impovement talk over the summer. This is an offensive team. Maybe Isiah was serious. This is not a panic move but, a statement to this team!!!!
Isiah is saying that I dont care who you are, if you dont play D than u wont play.
Isiah said it during the summer and now he is sticking to his guns.
Bravo!!!!
We know Zeke has guts, now he his risking it all to make a statment to this team.
Now it is up to the team to respond.

Well said Willis
Ive never rooted for an athlete I normally wouldn't like as much as I have for Steph.
Why cant he just shut everyoneone up?!!?!?!?!?!?
He still has some time to come to his sences.

Looks like the reason he left was because he was told he would not start, according to daily news

START NATE

TRADE FOR ATEST AND BIBBY IF YOU CAN GET HIM AND THE KNICKS ARE A PLAYOFF TEAM

THIS SUCKS! I wholeheartedly believe in Stephon as the PG for this Knicks team. Reagardless of what I think of him as a person, or as a the picture of what a "pure" point guard should be, we absolutely need Steph playing on this team if we want to have any success at all.

I really don;t get this, I am so coonfused and so disgusted by this political bullsh*t.

well, as long as it's shaping up to be another lottery year (at least NYK has a pick!), it couldn't hurt to start looking.

http://nbadraft.net/admincp/profiles/darrencollison.html

and here we go again..
i cant be surprised this is typical marbury fashion his ego is too big to even fit in the garden...
the most amazing thing that i have learned in this fiasco is that marbury and thomas are represented by the same agent--well that sure explains a hell of a lot

Please get rid of Dolan, Isiah, and Marbury.

Screw Steph ... let's look ahead (yet again):

Derrick Rose, 6′4″ 194, Memphis, Freshman, age 18
Has the ability to score, distribute, and take over games when needed. He’s lightning quick, and skill wise, is easily one of top point guard prospects in the last ten years. Few Point Guard’s have ever possessed the mix of athleticism and speed that Rose has. Fantastic passer, especially in transition, and can create his own shot in little space.

DJ Augustin, 5′11″ 182, Texas, Sophomore, age 19
Augustin, a pure point guard who’s idolizes Steve Nash, should be able to run the point in the NBA for a long time. Loves to dribble penetrate in the paint and find the open man underneath the basket. Runs the pick-n-roll to perfection, and even likes to push the ball from time to time. Has fantastic agility and is very well conditioned. Makes his teammates better, and doesn’t mind being out of the spotlight. Does the little things that make a team successful, and has an emerging mid range jump shot. Has an unbelievable long range jump shot, and can score in traffic. Very reliable from the charity stripe.

Tywon Lawson, 6′0 195, North Carolina, Sophomore, age 19
Another very quick point guard who has an extra burst when he needs it. He’s very elusive and tough to guard, and can easily penetrate and finish at the rim in traffic. Has very good court vision and has really developed his perimeter shooting during his freshman year. He’s built solid and quick enough that he can really rack up a lot of steals.

Darren Collison, 6’0” 165, UCLA, Junior, age 20
Compared by many to TJ Ford because of his similar size and lightning quick speed. He’s incredibly difficult to contain, has good court vision, and can find the open man on the break. Has turned his poor perimeter shooting into a strength over the last year. Scary on-ball defender and due to his long arms, he creates a lot of turnovers leading to fast break baskets.

The idea that Collins shouldn't get the start because he missed some big free throws is missing what is going on here.

Marbury isn't being benched because of the turnover.

He is being benched for how is is playing at the end of the game.

Until this year we haven't had the quality depth to sit people who weren't doing what they need to do. Marbury has been benched and Curry and Crawford have been warned.

This is exactly what needed to happen.

This is how we end up with the 5 best players starting.

ESPN Radio is reporting that Marbury landed in NY and texted a message to Mark Berman that he had permission to leave the team - permission straight from Thomas.

If this is true, then the Knicks organization is apparently hanging Steph out to dry for some reason.

And I'm with Michael Kay - if the Knicks knew about this and intentionally spun the situation to make marbury look like the bad guy, it's beyond disgusting.

Alan, Who the hell is texting you? No knicks in your fab fave?

How about this trade?
Kobe and Kwame for Crawford, Curry and Marbury with whatever picks or contracts needed to finalize the deal?

A poster on real gm says Zeke and Steph brawled on the plane.

I'm inclined to believe Thomas over Marbury

Nobody intentionally spun anything, Kay is an idiot. When you arguing with somebody who is not agreeeing with you it is usually ends in "You do what you gotta do and I will do what I gotta do" kind of statement, it is open to any kind of interpretation. If your wife tells you to get the hell out of the house its not the same as getting permission to go have drinks with your buddies, although it could be interpreted this way.

rush - I'm not saying that Kay isn't an idiot. That's indisputable.

I'm saying that we're not anywhere near getting the whole story here. Marbury says he got permission, Stephen A. Smith cites an (anonymous) 'high-placed source' in the NYK organization who pretty much said Steph is lying.

This is no way to handle a small problem - unless you're trying to turn it into a large one.

I'm starting to think that Dolan has given the order to cut Marbury loose. But this is a PR nightmare, and everyone who loves to hate the Knicks is livin' it up right now.

Bad situation. Bad situation.

* Time to give Fred Jones and/or Mardy Colling some PT;
* I'm hoping Fred Jones would truly surprise a lot of people;
* N8 = never did quite like him in year 1 and 2 but he is showing some signs of maturity in year 3. Plus his heart and hustle are always there, day in & day out. With Yukbury pouting, give N8 more PT.

* If Yukbury is gonna pout & sulk then get rid of him. Except for the back-half of last yr., I was never a fan.

Keep in mind, it's a long season. It's better that issues like these are surfacing now as opposed to later. Moreover, the recent losses are probably wake-up calls that the team must play D and change its approach to compete.

It's a long season. I'm still positive about this season.

Hey Alan, do you know anything about this? This comes from a usually reliable message board poster on realgm.com.

TEAM TURMOIL IN FULL EFFECT:

According to my sources:

On the way to phoenix, IT informed Marbs that he was benching him for mardy.

Marbs told IT he cant do that and that if he did, he had so much dirt on IT that it would ruin his career. They began to argue and it escalated into a full on brawl on the airplane. Marbury after it was broken up said he was outta here and said he was going back to NY (reason he is reportedly AWOL).

In addition, Rose has told people “he is tired of babysitting this team and wants out”

Any time Rose wants to give up his paycheck he is free to go.

Until he should count his blessings that he is paid millions to babysit.

Steph, take coach and the Dolan whelp with you!

Now, can I have my team back?

I really want to root for the Knicks again. I think that will start when Starbury and Zeke are shown the door.

Word.

A highly placed Knicks source has said that Steph is busy tonight...plucking his eyebrows again. Girlyman!!

A highly placed Knicks source has said that Steph is busy tonight...plucking his eyebrows again. Girlyman!!

This could be the defining moment for the Isiah Knicks. I’m withholding judgment. Clearly, we don’t have anything close to the whole story. Maybe it’s all hogwash. But if this team is in even half the turmoil reported . . . then Marbury isn’t the only one whose job is in jeopardy.

I’ve never been the biggest Stephon Marbury fan, but this “Marbury/Scapegoat” scenario is absurd. (He ain't the only - or even the biggest - problem here. After only 5 games? After the way he came around last year? Isiah should have other concerns with a higher priority.) If that’s what’s going on, it’s merely a sign of how desperate management is.

At the same time, as was said by someone above . . . this is the IDEAL situation for Marbury – a paternal GM/coach in his hometown. If he can’t make it here . . . his NBA days are numbered. Two years ago I assumed Larry Brown provoked him, even if I cringed every time Stephon opened his mouth. He needs to be smart enough to know he HAS to make this work. Did Isiah bench him? We don’t know. It’s certainly his right. If Marbury went AWOL because he was benched . . . that’s bad. That would put us in full “circus” mode.

And what’s up with Curry? Is it connected somehow? Why would he be benched? Did Isiah pull off some blockbuster trade, including Curry . . . and doesn’t want him to break his leg tonight? Why else wouldn’t Curry start? Especially if Zach is still at his grandmother’s funeral?

Alan??? What’s going on out there? Is it time to recall the immortal words of Michael Ray Richardson?

OK, I just heard back from my sources.

Knicks are actively looking to trade Marbury and if they can't find a taker, they will do a buyout.

Malik Rose wants out.

Curry and Crawford are upset at Isiah as well.

Knicks looking to trade Lee and Balkman.

I, for one, am thrilled that Isiah is willing to make a move like this to win now.

I was worried he was going to have a blind faith with his starters and this shows me he is going to win now and we aren't going to give people time.

None of this had to be more than a benching. The fact that Marbury took it to the next level is on him alone.

Nate is ready for the boost in PT that will make him the PG that the Knicks have needed for a while now. Bye Stephon.

Curry and Crawford were both warned so they should be upset. Like Marbury they should be upset with their unwillingness to put in more defensive effort.

What's with the looking to trade Lee and Balkman? Problems with them or just for a good player.

It is clear that the entire Knicks organziation is in full melt down mode and that over the next two weeks the following will happen:

--Marbury will be traded or bought out.

--Isiah Thomas will be fired.

--Malik Rose will be traded or bought out.

--Kiki V will become the new GM of the team and Herb Williams will be named head coach.

The stink in the air over the garden will finally lift.

Is Steph (2 more years of bad contract) and one of the young guys for Kirelenko (4 more years of bad contract) and Matt Harping (mediocre contract) a trade the Jazz considers?

Right now Steph has a lot more value at the 2 in the west, where the Jazz will need to light it up to compete against the likes of Denver, Dallas, PHO, and Golden State. Plus, they get out of some ornery deals and gain flexibility to sign a fresh stud in a couple of seasons. There's got to be some deal Utah will do...

Get Steph the Staph Infection out of here!

So nice, I've got to post it twice. Predicted this a few blogs ago. Genius.

I feel our fortunes will change once we bench or preferably trade Marbury. His dour demeanor drags the attitude of the team down. He's got skilz obviously, but is not and will never be a leader of men.

Knicks are stocked with talent but no identifying attitude. Marbury symbolizes doom and gloom and ever realize how that impacts even your workplace?

We would instantly become the kind of team the Suns became once Starbury got the boot and we handed the rock to N8.

WTF-I'm speechless. Where did it come out that Curry is benched as well. Did Isiah just lose this team?

Alan – was that really you at 19:20? If it wasn’t, you should really make that clear.

I’m at least on-board until the last line. That means I believe everything until then is at least POSSIBLY true.

It’s the last line where you lose me. I’ve always said we might HAVE to include Lee and/or Balkman in a deal . . . IF a premier/all-star player were involved on the other end. But this is worded in a way that suggests they’re TRYING to get rid of Lee and Balkman. That makes NO sense. WILLING to get rid of them? Maybe. TRYING to? I don’t buy it. Alan, did you write this?

Here’s my completely ludicrous hope:

Isiah has a trade worked out with the Lakers to land Kobe, but the only way Kobe accepts it is if Marbury is gone. So Isiah pulls this stunt, drives Marbury out of town, but we get Kobe.

I’m so desperate for a reason to cheer this team.

Gee, you think the word wacky might apply here?

Don - I had the same thought earlier. If this ain't wacky, nothin' is.

Has anyone ever heard of a prof. sports league taking a team away from owners due to mismanagement? I can't imagine any other way this team gets better. Sigh. I want my knicks back.

I don't remember the details, but about 20 years ago, the NBA banned the Cleveland management from making anymore trades, or something like that,, because each one was more stupid than the last and they’d run the team into the sewer. They were totally out of draft picks for about a decade. It was a mess. That’s the closest I know of. (That's probably also when they made the rule that you can't trade away 1st round picks 2 years in a row.)

Alan I'm gonna boycott this blog if we can't have 'wacky' back. :)

Anyone else confused by the fact that two guys that started tonight weren't even in the rotation the first week? David Stern, please save this franchise!!! The inmates are running the asylum!!!

AH: Would love to hear your take after the game. How the team is really reacting (their state-controlled responses notwithstanding)...the future, hopefully a short one, of Marbury with the team etc. This team has become the laughingstock of the NBA. Granted, the real problem is Daddy's Little Boy getting a run of Garden Holdings, but this can't do anything but hasten Zeke's exit...or maybe not?

A little electric shock therapy might not be all that bad with our insane team.

Leaving aside for a moment how hard Isiah tried to get through to Stephon (and whatever you think about either guy, there’s nothing Isiah tried harder to do) . . . what exactly does Stephon thinks he’s going to get out of going to war with the Knicks? Is Marbury really so stupid and/or so blinded in the glare of his own self-image that he couldn’t realize he’ll NEVER be in a better situation? Apparently not. If Isiah couldn’t get through to him, I’m convinced nobody can. This isn’t just a big ego we’re talking about at this point. This is dysfunctional.

I would imagine he can’t be traded. Then again, maybe the mathematics of his huge contract will appeal to another team. Takling $21 million off the cap after next year is huge. And the 2009 free agents are going to be great. Maybe there is a trade out there. But it all points back to Artest. The only reason Isiah made such a great deal for Stevie’s contract was because the Portland brass was so frightened of Zach . . . and all the “bad influence” stuff. How many other front-line players scare management? Other than Artest, that is . . . unless that contract is more valuable than I think . . . it's just a pretty long-term investment for this league. They're either stuck with Stephon for 2 years. Or THEYhave to buy him out.

What a mess . . .

This game is like watching the varsity scrimmage the JV's.

I was just thinking the EXACT same thing . . .

So Isiah, before you get fired...can you just trade for Kobe please?

And now Balkman is hurt too? Wow.

Oh, yes – we need to get back to Jessica Simpson. (I actually tried to write this post in street lingo . . . but I’m just not good enough at it. It would take too good a writer to do it well.) Anyway . . . Alan, no further clarification of the “list” will be necessary. I got it right, didn’t I? Interestingly, in the same way that the minute you learn a new word . . . you start hearing it all the time . . . the same day you wrote the Jessica Simpson story, my kid is watching an old "Friends" and, in the background, I hear one of those characters refer to their “list.” Which sounded a lot like yours. Amazing all the cool stuff you learn on one of these blogs. Thank you. Just not sure how to introduce my wife to the concept.

What an awful effing day! This sh!t is plain crazy.

Missed the Balkman injury. Can someone fill me in?

we cant win with that kind of performance.. no leadership at all.

Kenny Smith said Balkman got an ankle injury on the post-game.

I didn't watch the game so I didn't see it. And they didn't show it on the, umm, highlights.

What happened to Mardy?

This team is snakebit, I think.

As another great Knicks point guard once said:

The ship be sinkin'.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I use a track ball . . . so I can scroll past the long ones quickly. If nothing else, they help Alan’s numbers.

Slick move, bumping Nichols and keeping James, even though we knew he needed surgery.

I don’t have any details on Balkman or Collins yet, but assuming they have to miss at least tomorrow night . . . it looks like Isiah will get down to a nice 9-man rotation . . . whether he likes it or not. It’s possible he’ll only have 9 men to dress. And those 9 men include Chandler and Morris. So 7, really, who can be counted on to put in significant minutes: Crawford, Curry, Jeffries, Jones, Lee, Robinson and Rose. Wow. I’ve got no problem letting Chandler have even more of a chance to show what he’s got. And Morris, too – but to a lesser degree.

Whoever he starts in the backcourt, we’re looking at a 3-guard rotation of Nate, Crawford and Jones. They’ll be tired, but I suppose things could be worse. If Nate lives up to his recent press, and controls the game. Jones is about the only positive to come out of tonight. But at this point, any foul trouble in the front court begins to be very troubling. Especially if it’s Curry. Because then you’re playing small-ball, whether you like it or not.

That team just ain’t gonna win a lotta basketball games.

... Stephon Marbury is clinically retarded ... he looks juuuuuust normal enough to fool the unsuspecting public ... however, over time, the truth about his mental and emotional handicaps have become manifest ... Poor Zeke ... he looks like he's about to kill himself, and/or someone ... im just now realizing he was forced on me as a Knick fan ... i HATED him when he played in Detroit ... i just wanted to see the brother do good here ... but sadly, too much drama has ensued under his watch ... this looks and sounds real bad ... i believe these stories surfacing about a fight ... im surprised Q hasnt chin-checked Mebury yet ...

If Marbury drops dimes on Isiah like a biach to the Post or anywhere else it ill make me sick. I was just waiting for contract to drop off the books. He is a complete idiot. Straight wacky. (2 Dons).

But I am crushed about the more negative press coverage. Zeke has got to pull a rabbit out of his hat or lower back side to make this work.

Alan, Saw you in the backgrounds of Isiah's interviews last night...Do you have anything more to drop?

Alan,

You should write a column that calls for the NBA to take over the Knicks. It has reached the point of no return. They are off to their fifth straight year as one of the league's laughing stocks, team management does not care about its fan base, their "best player" is threatening to reveal nasty secrets about the coach. Unless the NBA takes over this franchise, they league risks becoming a laughing stock itself. As a Knick season ticket holder, we have no where else to turn. Dolan doesn't care about the fans. Thomas does not care about the fans. Its time for David Stern to take an action that Pete Rozelle did back when he forced the Giants to hire George Young.

Bibby, Abdur-Rahim, Garcia for Marbury, R. Morris, Fred Jones.

Guys Marbury has left the building (Madison Square Garden)

Have any of you guys gone to the Knicks home page? if you see up top where Jamal, Nate, David Lee pictures come out with their signiture that puts them inside the garden…….Marbury is no longer there….he was always the first picture to pop up. THAT SHOULD MEAN SOMETHING why would they go though the hassel of taking him out.

Some teams demand a shake-up. That might not be the case here (yet). But it’s also a possibility that has to be considered . . .

When this season started, I thought Isiah deserved a year to see what he could do with this team. Admittedly he’s had some bad luck, as far as the injuries are concerned. Even though I’ve never been an Isiah fan, all summer I also wondered if firing him could be more disruptive than a coaching change. This unit didn’t need more turmoil. But at this point, there’s no stability anyway. That takes away one huge reason for keeping Isiah. And since it’s only 6 games into the season . . . at this point we should assume that nobody on the team is untouchable, including Isiah. There is a strong base of talent here. I would look to keep Zach and Curry . . . and although I’d prefer to keep Lee and Balkman, too . . . I think it’s safe to assume at least one of them would have to be sacrificed if another premier player is going to be brought in. And frankly, IF it's going to happen, I’d rather the team were shaken up now than at the trade deadline in February.

If Isiah can somehow keep the ship from sinking into the Pacific Ocean . . . fine . . . give him a little more rope. But the noose is definitely tightening. I’m willing to admit that not all the chaos is his fault. But that’s how it goes sometimes. I’m shocked he wasn’t able to get through to Marbury, who’ll never again have a GM/coach nearly so sympathetic . . . but the fact is, he didn’t. It was Isiah’s trade. Isiah’s responsibility. I’ll be the first to say he’s increased the level of talent on the team during his time here. But he consistently brought in the athlete he wanted . . . not the player he needed.

I never thought it would get this bad, this fast . . . but I’d be interested to see what a strong new GM and coach could do with this basic unit. I don’t think anybody would take it apart completely and start over. I still don’t think the core group is that far away. But who goes and who stays, at this point, should be a function of who is available that could complement other players to build a cohesive unit . . . the one thing Isiah never did.

I’m not a GM, but all this talk about Bibby and Artest sounds VERY good to me . . . two huge holes in the roster, filled with premier players.

With all this turmoil, nobody mentioned the RIDICULOUS Family Fed episode with Lee, Dwight Howard, Cuttino Mobley, R-Jeff, and Grant Hill against their moms. It was hysterical.

Wow, how can this team be so bad??? We need another staged lottery draft (like when we got Ewing) to turn things around. David Stern ... come to the rescue!!!! Force Zeke out of the league. Force Dolan to sell the team. Force Steph to quit the NBA. Please, do something .... ANYTHING!!!

What up fixers? Rumor has it that there was a physical altercation on the flight to Phoenix from New York evidenced by the notable injury under David Lee's eye. Alan is there anything to this? Do any other fixers have any inside information to confirm these rumors? The story goes that Lee was injured while trying to be the peacekeeper. Could it be that Stephon was involved? Please more info needed. This is becoming a good soap opera. -- El Profeta

This season is 6 games old!!!!!!!!
I want to see this team play with Zach before I start thinking about blowing it up.

The differences between Steph and Isiah may be Irreconcilable this time. That may not be a bad thing.
I think the players on this team want to prove they can win without Steph. They will rally behind Zeke and Zach.
This team isnt going to pack it in without Steph, so why should we? I saw great effort last night and tonight we have a winable opponent.lets see what happens with a couple of our talent guys back.(Zach and/or Q)

Oh, and call me spiteful but.......NEVER EVER EVER buy out Steph. Put him on the shelf for the next two years unless you can package him for Artest and Bibby.
END his career if you can. this behavior is so disgusting to me I cant even put my frustration into words.

yea Profeta....I was wondering about that.....

El profeta

He's been sporting the eye injury since the Miami game.

This little episode may have positive effects. Curry was busting it last night but was quickly neutralized by officiating, which was terrible. That Joey Crawford is a total ahole why cant they just fire that bastard. Jamal played better D and Jones can give us some minutes. Chandler is a keeper. I think he should start at this point, he was defending well and knew what to do with the ball.

Very unfortunate injuries to Balkman and Collins although Collins is OK he says. What is happening to D Lee? He cant hit a layup. I think real NBA players were letting that white boy play for marketing purposes but once he started to fancy himself a "Playa" and posing for cameras they shut his ass down just like they did to 'White Chocolate". We should trade him for anybody of real value and put Morris in there. Morris is way more talented.
All in all it's not all bad at this juncture.
I think Steph got pissed at Isiah because it was Phoenix where he played. He couldn't take that slap from IT and threw a fit. But I bet he will play better when he gets back.

We need Zach to be back more so then Marbury. Why is he taking 3 games off when 1 would be sufficient?

if Chandler or Morris play any significant minutes, the season is lost. They are not ready.
