PreGame: Magic at Knicks

Always good to see Patrick Ewing. Always.

Some news: Jerome James is having surgery on his foot on Monday. Something about removing a cyst that has been giving him trouble. He's out indefinitely.

Not too much trouble. Big Jerome was out shooting threes during the pregame warmup.

Sigh.

OK, I can understand a guy having health issues. It sucks. But Isiah doesn't have to insult my intelligence by telling me that Jerome would have made a bigger impact if the Knicks didn't get Eddy Curry.

“If there was no Eddy, if we didn’t have a guy like Eddy Curry show up, Jerome would have had more court time and probably would have looked better than he’s looked," Isiah said during the pregame interviews. "But when we got Eddy Curry that really changed everything. The injuries for him, that’s part o the game. I feel bad that he’s been injured, but that’s how it goes sometimes in this league.”

Come on.

You shouldn't feel insulted because Isiah pointed out the obvious.

You probably should feel bad if you don't understand how getting an elite center might slow the development of other centers on the roster but that, hopefully, is another issue.

If we didn't get Eddy, we would have Aldridge and Noah. Hummm. I don't know if we got the better deal. Have you seen the numbers
Aldridge has been ringing up? And Noah has been getting burn as a rookie and a playoff team. Hummm.

nice fudgin ornate words and narrative but lacking substance as always
reading parts of that garbage gave me a fuggin headache
what a waste of space and keyboard strokes

please trade Steph beforew his birthday. And also drug test that kid. He can't win two meaningful games in a row because he has a problem understanding what DEFENSE is. He cannot stay in front of his man.

NO DEFENSE FROM THE GUARDS AGAIN THIS TIME IT CAUGHT UP TO US THANK GOD WE HAVE ZACK!

IF THEY DONT WANT TO PLAY D MARDY COLLINS IS READY THAT KID IS A DEFENDER.

D.L. has no confidence in any shot more than 5 ft. from the basket. It's a shame, because his game would be amazing if he could knock down the 15 ft. J.

The coach can certainly spin things, can't he.
Since when is rain yellow?

Just back from the game. Very disheartening game. Key to the game to me was Nelson constantly breaking Marbury and other guards down. Always going to his right. Is this guy that fast he can get to the basket five times in a row going the same way?

No way. I expect HOward to be a beast. I expect Lewis to be a tough time but I can't except Nelson turning into Tiny Archibald

... Jameer Nelson won multiple Player Of The Year awards as a senior in college ... he's no Archibald indeed, but he's much better than he gets credit for ... turnovers, and foul trouble to Curry and Randolph cost the Knicks ... Zach Randolph has the ugliest jumpshot (if you can call it that) in the league ... his Greg Anthony-esque release is quite disturbing ... but the dude woks hard ... at times he reminds me of a poor man's, lefthanded, Moses Malone ...

This game was bulsht we shot poorly. We beat them next time no problem. They shot 30 percent from downtown which suckst. Howard cant shoot worth sh@t and Lewis 7 of 17 is not great for max player. Nobody could hit any effin layups and would just turn the ball over. We were playing decent most of the game but way too many mistakes.

Emac2 – when I said Isiah the GM was “bailed out” by the scouting department . . . it was meant to be ironic. Of course, Isiah is the scouting department. I meant it that way. (DFTT)

Patrick Ewing was in MSG tonight, it was good to see the big fella. Orlando is very fortinate to have a man with such knowlege and experierice mentor a beast like Dwight Howard. The knicks are stupid because they should have made Ewing apart of the knicks coaching staff so he could help turn Eddy Curry into a real center not a cream-puff who grabs only 3 rebs for an entire game, aw mean come on man, that's crazy. On the the real, it all comes down to passion aand heart, and some people just don't have it. As an NBA player, you got to be a hungry man, and put it out theeir on the floor every night ex.Kevin Garnett.

Landlord,

everybody in the pros was PLayer of something great when they were in college. That is if they went to college. Nelson is a starting pro guard but he is by no means a top echelon pro guard. Sitting there watching his marches to the rack it one thing kept coming to mind. When a perimeter player can constantly break someone down and get to the paint it often leads to bigs being in foul trouble. This is because they often end up being out of position trying to cover things up.

Kevin,

Was Marbury playing him to go to his right? When I was at the Denver game he was blatantly playing AI to go to his right, but did not have the footspeed to do more than trail AI. I also notice that Marbury tries to do a bit too much cheating to help ut on the perimeter. It's not working. What do you think?

so, did ur fuggin pre-game analysis n war & peace type essay do any good last night against the magic and jamin nelson?
not a fuggin thing

ur novels are for retards

Someone is gonna have to be added in the rotation if the guards can't defend.

One good play I saw was the ball rotated quickly to Curry at the top of the key and Curry zippin it to Randolph in the post for a quick bucket. If they get good chemistry together it will be nice.

One bad note: Curry TRIPLE teamed on the baseline and not looking for one of two teamates who were open and forcing a bad shot.

The definition of crazy is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different outcome.

The Knicks, like last year, have guards who cannot defend on the perimeter. Isiah has done nothing to rectify this problem.

Curry, like last year, is a very poor defender and rebounder. Nothing can be done to change that, BUT it means you cannot play Curry and Randolph together.

Lee and Balkman must play serious minutes if this team is to win. Not 19 minutes each.

Yes, they can keep doing the same things over again. But the result will be the same too.

This is the exact quote:

"Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results"
Albert Einstein

Alan,
"The Knicks say they didn't have an opening for Ewing, which would be like Charles Barkley not having an opening in his Fave Five for Beyonce."

That's funny stuff. But you've got to believe it's personal and smart with Zeke. Ewing was tight with MJ and I'm sure he knows what he did to Isiah. It's nepotism for Aguire but it's also who you trust. If Pat is an assistant and Dolan caves to the media/public pressure to fire Zeke. Who do you think would be the safe bet to replace him? Sort of like Herb was the "people's choice" for a chance to coach. Isiah would never add him to his staff. It could prove fatal to his last NBA job for a while.

I love Pat, but like most of the Knicks murky past, it was Layden who traded him away not Zeke.

Will Jerome James make the Hall of Fame as a Knick? Thanks.
