Jordan Coming In; Dickau Headed Out

The Fixers have been calling it for a while now...Isiah Thomas' interest in Jared Jordan has resulted in the acqusition of the former Marist star's draft rights from the LA Clippers on Sunday. Jordan will be with the team when they head to Charleston on Monday to open camp.

jordan.jpgJordan's arrival -- we'll deal with his chances to make the roster in a second -- was met with the news that the Knicks are in the process of buying out the remaining year in Dan Dickau's contract. The deal could be done Sunday night, but it's certain Dan won't be with the Knicks for Monday's media day. Clearly the Knicks had no takers for his expiring contract, even as a throw-in for any other potential trades.

Jordan was drafted by the Clippers in the second round (45th overall). His claim to fame out of Marist was that he led the NCAA Division I in assists for two consecutive seasons (first player since Avery Johnson). In the NBA summer league, he averaged 4.2 points and 4.8 assists in five games with the Clips.

The Knicks will likely sign Jordan to a partially guaranteed contract, but the realistic chances he'll make the roster -- with Stephon Marbury, Nate Robinson, Mardy Collins, Fred Jones and Jamal Crawford to compete with in the backcourt -- are slim. What this move is, for the most part, is a way to get Jordan into the organization and get a good look at him. They have the option to send him off to Europe and retain his rights without it costing a roster spot (in other words, what Demetris Nichols would not agree to do). Jordan will have the chance to compete and show what he can do against some veteran NBA guards, but no one is expecting him to beat out Robinson or Collins or Jones for a spot in the backcourt.

Which brings us to Nichols, a guy I'll be watching closely (as much as the Knicks allow) during training camp. You have to look at the facts when it comes to the move we all agree on: keep him and dump a veteran contract. That would mean a big investment in Nichols, because, say the Knicks opted to waive Jerome James and buy out the remainder of his contract (around $18 million) in order to keep Nichols. The Knicks would be eating the buyout number, plus the luxury tax on top of that, all of which stays on the payroll.

Clearly the plan in acquiring Nichols (also a second round pick) from Portland on draft night was to send Nichols to Europe and it backfired when the kid decided he didn't want to go and fired his original agent for telling the Knicks he would. Is there a chance he could change his mind? I guess, though his most recent statements maintain his determination to make an NBA roster. What NBA roster remains to be seen.

Once again, here's where I rant that the NBA's rule regarding D-League assigned players counting against the NBA roster is stupid, though it is there to protect young players from being buried on a D-League roster. There has to be more flexibility. David Stern- revisit this rule!

With Dickau gone and, for argument's sake, Jordan and Nichols not considered roster players (yet), the Knicks actually are at the NBA limit of 15. But we can't forget about Allan Houston.

According to the Bergen Record, sounds like Jason Kidd is trying to convince Allan to take the longer commute to New Jersey, which has two slots open under the roster limit and, with Marcus Williams' injury, could use some more bodies in the backcourt.

I say it's 50-50 we see Allan at the MSG Training Center on Oct. 10, the first day the Knicks return from South Carolina.

Jared Jordan Auditions For Another Jordan and

Jared auditions for Suns

Stephon Marbury, Mardy Collins, Nate Robinson, Jared Jordan. Is something wrong with Mardy, as someone noted from an inside medical source earlier in the summer? Is Isiah collecting assets to make a run at Artest? Jordan is not under contract yet however, is he? Training camp is going to be special. Give us your best shot AH.

Note: Thanks Alan for answering some of my questions before I asked them.

Interesting pick up for the Knicks. One of their great failings is that they are an awful passing team . . and although Collins is solid, he's not much of a passer, or leader.

Thus, the Jordan pick up might be about grooming their point guard of the future.

I am surprised though that Dickau couldn't bring an asset.

This Kid Jordan is part of a package for the rebuilding Kings! Don't think so, then you believe in the Easter Bunny! This kid could not make the Knicks squad if Jerome James was the last point guard option! Wake TFU!

Peaceman

Help me out with some more details!

Could be like Alan says, they may ship him overseas.

HELP A BROTHER OUT!!

Peace,

if Jared Jordan is a pass-first fundamental point guard, then why dismiss the possibility of him playing for new york? I wanted new york to draft Petteri Koponen for that very reason.

Somebody has to throw it to Curry and Randolph. Marbury's minutes may go down this year to keep him fresh for the PLAYOFFS. Who said it? I said it! I'll say it again: PLAYOFFS.

David,
To be honest with you, I liked what I saw from Collins last month of the season in terms of passing and leading, so I'd like to reserve judgement on his game until we get to see him play this year coming off knee surgery to see what he can still do. he got eddy the ball in very good spots last year, i'd assume he could do the same for zach randolph. perimeter defense is what mardy brings to the table, something this young man Jared Jordan is no expert at. it wasn't Mardy's passing, leadership, or defense that was in question--it was merely his shooting ability as far as I know.

FIXERS

I'm back in the saddle for a day, but I caught up on my reading and FED MY KNICK JONES...

I must admit, I knew the blog was burning up after I heard the news about TAZ.
I have only one thing to say about that,

"The race is not given to the swift, neither to the strong, but to those that endureth until the end."

O & B, thanks for the positive review on our knicks. Appreciate it!

BARF, by far you had the funniest line all weekend regarding Mr. Shawn Williams...Let's hope for the best because he is still a young buck...

Lives, Willis, Statemans, Steady, and Peaceman Great post and concise and insightful writing on both the trial and the TEAM...

BX in MD, back to posting regular and I am thrilled about that and the posts have been timely, but don't fret Homie, this season is going to be a blast, with all of its ups and downs, BECAUSE WE HAVE EACH OTHER, AND BY SHEAR WILL and TRUE FELLOWSHIP WE HAVE CREATED THE BEST KNICK BLOG...TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE and we have proven that FELLAS...the newbiesare smoking.

Oh, O & B, I will remain with my original prediction from last week, NYK Record in 08 W52--L30. I just got this feeling...

Rush, you've got this knack for demeaning our players and we all have favorites and some of our players have flaws. Rush I tell you what, I'll paly U for
1K, anywhere and anytime, And, while I'm dusting that Azz, I am going tell you what I'm going to do,you'll be helpless to stop it, and I'll talk shyt to you from the moment I exit my car. AND I'LL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND TEACH YOU A THING OR TWO...Be respectful Rush, Maybe God might bless you with a little baller son or girl, and I know you would not want us demeaning them like you do our players.
(I'm also easy to find slice if you're itching) Holla

Oh, and Starburyfan, never wish anyone ill-will for the betterment of the TEAM Bro. (Bad Karma) Kinda weak, and ain't cool, but I still got hope for you young buck, because you've got passion...Just don't let it lead down the wrong path.

Last but certainly not least, AH, you've been busy, on your JOB, keeping us all in the loop, while preparing for your real gig, trying to finish the crib, and making plans and promises of keeping KNIX FIX hot, informative, and lively, with the NYC AND NYK SWAG...If I'm not to let to vote, ZBO would be my choice, but either way AH, because of you WE"RE WINNERS EITHER WAY.

Safe trip AH, and I can't wait until they roll those bballs out on the hardwood and blowthat whistle.

FIXERS keep Balkman & both WIlliams in your prayers...

Does Peaceman's contention that Jared Jordan may be part of a package for Artest have any legs? See the qoute below,... it is somewhat revealing. But I leave to the individual fixers to make up their own minds about that.

'An Internet junkie, he [Jordan] was obsessively reading basketball blogs, and his NBA hopes were revved pretty high, he [Jordan] admitted. He felt confident he could make it. "I'd have to be put in the right situation. It would have to be a West Coast team, that style of play -- fluid, up and down, and not the East Coast style, which is more banging."'

The following line from an article Starburyfan posted previously, has me speculating that their is substance to Peaceman's contention that Jordan might be part of an arsenal of players for a run at trading for Ron Artest. The link for that article is the following.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/the_bonus/05/24/jared.jordan/

My reasoning for reading some substance in Peaceman's contention are based on the following portions of JJordan's own statements taken from above. Namely, that Jordan envisions his best prospects "in the right situation," which he described as being a "West Coast Team." Jordan, moreover, pointed out that the "fluid style" of the West over the "Banging" style of the east is more of his cup of tea. If Jordan considers his best shot at NBA stardom (career) is in the Western conference, wouldn't that be an item that GM's would consider in dealing for him let alone stacking him as an asset to a rebuilding Western Conference team?

The alternative as Alan pointed out is stashing him out in Europe where he can get to test his skill set in an alternative professional environment. There is a case of a Western Conference style Point Guard having success in the Eastern Conference. His name is Jason Kidd. But, here, it must be noted that Kidd played a considerable amount of time in the Western conference developing his game and confidence and was surrounded by the right type of talent for him to Blossom in New Jersey with the Nets of the up tempo Kenyon Martin, Richard Jefferson, and Kerry Kittles fame. The Knicks on the other hand have tailored their offense on a low post power game, with E-City and Z-Bo, which would present a style of offense at odds with JJordan's preffered fluid Western COnference Style offense.

What do the fixers think?

Don't kill me I'm just bloggin.

Starburyfan,But with proven vets like nate and marty, the closest thing you will see Jordan doing for the Knicks is hawking Popcorn or hotdogs! This Kid can't play with real guys! And Yeah, Nichols, the Big East leading scorer should go to Europe for a year? All for a divison nobody like Jordan? Rush , are you spreading around the good stuff? Drossman can outplay this nobody! Marist college, what a powerhouse! Zeke has had a breakdown! Herb are you ready?

Cooleyhigh

Hey, I hope you're on the money about our Knicks going 52-30. I do think they would have had more than a 10 game improvement last year absent the string of injuries. Like I said before I believe they were about 500 last year which would have made their improvement somewhere between 17-19 wins instead of a 10 game improvement. My prediction of between 44-48 was just to account for the improvement in the talent base of the Eastern Conference. I think had we made the playoffs last year, our players would have been more battle tested and hardened for the battles they would face in this years Eastern Conference. That's why I figure their improvement will be real significant but not monumental.

Again I hope I'm dead wrong I would love to see a 50 win team this year go to the conference finals. WIth Artest who know finals and the chip is possible.

Just reposting my previous entry b/c I wan't the fixers' feedback on Peacman's contention that JJordan might be trade bait for an BIG Artest trade.

Jordan is a fundamently sound, strong passing, very savvy player. His defense needs some work, but his long term potential is interesting.

The Artest rumors are getting old and after the "trail" its unlikely MSG will take on any more "character" issues. I think you can be quite sure they will stay away from any controversy.

And I didn't mean to demean Collins, Starburyfan, I just think he's got the potential to be a solid back up point. Jordan on the other hand, over the long term, has the chance to be special.

cooleyhigh,

I appreciate the shout out despite the misconstrued negative connotation.

If you're talking about the Marcus Williams comment from a few days ago--the player was already hurt BEFORE I basically said "better them than us." I'd like to make the distinction to you here and now that wishing a healthy player to be injured IS CLEARLY NOT the same as mentioning that an injured player is already injured and may be out for the season. I even complimented Marcus Williams in that same post by saying they were shopping Jason Kidd because they have such high regard for the kid, but I digress.

David
What charcater issues are you taking about? Name them? You are talking out your rectum like the media! The guy gives as much in Charity as any NBA player! So what is your point! Artest has given back to the comunity as much as he has made as a Pro! I want a Championship in the BIG APPLE! Name one player we can afford that is a native that will do that? ZERO! so take your Mike Breen ASS back to gather your off the handle comments!

david,

I see your point (I wanted a PG just like Jordan out of the draft in Koponen) and I agree about jared jordan--looking forward to seeing him play and possibly battle the other knick guards for a spot, Mardy included.

Truth be told, I wouldn't want any of these young knicks to have to play in europe if it can be avoided. We do have a glut of a roster, particularly at SF. Isiah usually finds the weakest link, so training camp should be very interesting, even if allan houston is a no-show.

BTW
Jordan SUCKS! ROUND 40 whatever! Nichols was different, Zeke had motive, which will soon be reveled! G-Mac is head and shoulders above this tomato can! He even has a ring with Melo! Jordan(as in MJ) is the most remote connection this pidgon has a a basketball player! This Guy is a D league sub at best! Because he's white, he get hype!

peaceman,

If the guy can't ball, Isiah will see it in training camp. right now he's trying out for the knicks, not sure why everybody shouldn't be given a chance, even Jerome James deserves a chance to come into camp and PROVE his worth to the team. I may not agree with all the players Isiah acquires, but he usually does find a way to get rid of the players that need to be vanquished from nyk.

If Jordan was a Black Pete Skeet, from Marist, there would be zero conversaton about him! The next Steve Nash? Pluuezzze! I have to throw up after that! This Kid coundn't start on any Big East team! Being White must be grand!

can you fixers guess from which knicks blog this came from?

"Isiah Thomas is guilty of giving Stephon Marbury the keys to the franchise and he's also guilty of fielding the most expensive Lottery team in NBA history. Whether he's guilty of sexual harassment could be decided in a Manhattan courtroom when the jury finally gets to deliberate tomorrow following three weeks of steamy testimony.

I still don’t believe that Isiah sexually harassed Anucha Browne Sanders. Was he verbally abusive toward her? Possibly. Did he allow Marbury to bully her (and just about everyone else at the Garden that doesn’t lick his boots)? I think we all know the answer to that one.

But that silly flirting is all part of Thomas’ act. Like I’ve written before, Isiah knows when to flash his mega-watt smile and turn on the charm. Just ask the jury. I just wish I had a nickel for every time Isiah says, “I grew up on the west side of Chicago.”

>>>such a radically different tone than the great host of this blog. Alan Hahn may have just began his career on the knicks beat, but all I can say is his blog is much easier for this knicks fan to digest than the aforementioned quote. This guy should be smart enough to know that he's shooting himself in the foot with that stuff, even if it is all true. Any writer that doesn't take into account his/her audience is already fighting an uphill battle.

Mr. MVP point guard of the summer league Nate Robinson! Who the hell IS Jared JORDAN? IF HE'S NOT TRADE BAIT? Wait and learn, ARTEST IS OURS! Wait a day or two! you'll see!
2007-2008 KNICKS 4-1 over the SPURS! WE owe them BIG TIME!

I don't give a crap if the kid is black, white, orange, hot-pink, magenta, neon, basketball is basketball. Steve Nash did come from a sh*tty college as well, not that it matters. I don't know if Isiah took him for the kings or not, but Isiah took him, and Isiah's talent *is* spotting talent.

BTW, who mentioned Steve Nash, anyway? No one else but CNNSI. No one on this blog has been talking about him being the next Steve Nash.

It's disappointing to read how quickly a guy who hasn't yet played at the NBA level is being dismissed. As a grocery-bagger, John Starks wasn't supposed to make it, neither was Ben Wallace. Ben Wallace was a damn undrafted walk-on. Nobody knew Ben Wallace, yet somebody gave Ben Wallace a chance. If Jordan sucks, the right people will see it at camp and make the right decision.

Did you have the same reaction when Jamison Brewer was on the squad? I rooted for him too, what's wrong with rooting for Jordan?

This is like Balkman all over again. People booed Balk at the Wamu theater on draft night, now they got balk jerseys like they've been down from the start.

Nothing in common, you say? Isiah found both of them.

Starburyfan

I agre with your take regarding the race of the player and the early line on his ability. I posted a take that tried to make sense of an article you hyperlinked and Peacman's commentary that JJordan is mere trade bait. I took the position that maybe there's truth to a contention that he might be trade bait on the basis of some self assessment by Jordan from the article you posted. However, I didn't go to the point of criticizing his talent. I mostly watch NBA ball so in the department of assessing how College players translate to the pros I'm clueless. I do know that Thomas has an eye for talent and has been looking to wheel and deal. So my conclusion was that perhaps given Jordan's self assessment of where he might better shine it is a possibility that he might go west as part of a rebuilding Western Conference Team that would be looking for youth and draft picks to retool-- ergo the Kings.

It is also possible that despite Jordan's preference to play in a fluid Western Conference style offense over that of the Eastern Conference, Jordan may still shine in the East given an opportunity and retract his previous statement.

I want to see how much play Jared gets on media day and how much media exposure he'll get from MSG. Why b/c I noticed when Jones and Dickau were traded to NY they got little media play, which was a harbinger of their potential limited value the Knicks as trade bait.

Who knows maybe oneday, Nash, will make a statement like Donovan MacNabb that it is harder to be a white pointgaurd in the NBA. I'm joking. Seems like people here are once again getting to serious.

O&B:
yeah the CNNSI link I posted seems to have started some controversy. that is actually an old article before Isiah pulled the strings to get the rights to Jared Jordan. please don't think my recent comments were directed towards you. It was the "Being White must be grand!" comment that set me off.

In addition to balk, David Lee was also an unknown that was booed by NYC on draft night. I remember to this day the EXACT GRIMACE Spike Lee made on TV when David Lee's name was called by Stern with the 30th pick in the first round. Now Spike thinks D Lee needs more playing time. whatever.

Peaceman, my comments about character issures refered to the Pacer-Piston fight and Ron-Ron's role as an instigator in that fight. While I'm not sure Artest was totally responsible for that mess, I have a feeling that MSG management will shy away from any controversial players for awhile.

Thus, if they are to acquire Artest, it likely won't be until mid season.

And regarding Jordan, it certainly is too early to decide what kind of a career he will have, but one the Knicks haven't had a pure point guard since Derek Harper.

Starybury:

Right, who knows how one player's game will translate when they reach the NBA, especially hard to discern are the player's intangibles-- mindset, determination, work ethic, confidence. I recall how some people spoke of Tim Thomas's athleticsm but for some reason he lacked drive. I still recall draft Weiss when we had a chance to take Artest.

Do you think there is any possibility that Jared Jordan may play in role in a trade for Artest. Also who would you rather have. Me I prefer Artest and like you don't care what the Media have to say about b/c they'll be kissing his behind if he helps us get to the finals and perhaps even get a Championship.

Starburyfan,

Like I said ealier "Bad Karma" And the fact you mentioned the Nets were shopping Kidd becuase of the Kidd is not a compliment. It's called repeating what you've read or heard...

O & B,

It is possible Jared Jordan could be used as pawn, or be stashed away for a rainy day if he show a little something in camp. I've seen the kid play and he is a pure heady PG. The chips will fall into place sooner than later. If Artestis available, IT has to consider it, and Peaceman be right, RA could be the missing piece...MAYBE I still like the cards we've been dealt currently...Tick Tock Tick Tock

Keep it POPPIN

Cooleyhigh,

Next time remind me to ask you what I mean when I write things. Once again, for me, it is not bad karma to discuss when players get injured and the possible implications of said injury.

since I've got your attention, I want to bring something up. your one on one challenge to rush is an interesting one, because like me, you don't know him. how do you know the kid can't ball? do you just assume you're better than anybody else on this blog, or was it something that rush said that made you certain you're a better player than he? I for one will not assume I know how good you are, because guarantees are just words iterated on a blog. just curious how you came to the conclusion that you'd beat him one on one.

I would never wish injury on any player, including Marcus Williams, cooleyhigh. Its not in my nature.

Great move by Isiah picking up this kid.

I don't know if he's going to package him for Artest or not but either way it's a good pick up.

Peaceman...this kid can ball. What do you mean when you say he can't play with real men? LMAO

This kid is the best passer we have on our team right now. Please tell me you've seen him play enough to make that prediction. I follow college ball more than the NBA. This kid has the skills to be better than any pg we have. I'm not saying it's going to happen this year or next but eventually he will be better.

With that said...I hope your right and he is part of a package for Artest. I'm only saying that because of his comments about how he wants to play in the west (where he was with the Clippers) and that it should be the right situation (which it was with the Clippers since Livingston got hurt).

Has anybody stopped to think Isiah may hold onto Jordan and trade either Nate, Mardy or both to land Artest?

I don't agree with the Bibby part of the deal because it wouldn't make sense. It would be just like Francis and Marbury again. Then again, I could be wrong and they might work. In order for us to land Bibby we would have to trade other players that make big money because Bibby has a big contract. I think he makes 13.5 this year and 14 million next year.

I highly doubt we get Bibby.

Peaceman....you know I'm all with you on Artest bro.

Let's get him home so we can make this push. Start strong and finish strong. Remember, he's suspended for the first 7 games of the season. We play Denver one of the games he's suspended then we play them again like his 3rd game back.

MEDIA DAY — ROLL CALL

Good morning Fixer Nation,

Training camp is opening and you gentlemen and gentle ladies (all gentle Fixers) are due to report to this shiny place in the blogosphere; the best damn sports spot in the worldwideweb. It is the best because we make it so. Alan Hahn has laid out the welcome mat and put some goodies on the table and we all come to this potluck with arms, heart and minds filled with orange and blue Knick love – One Love, Championship Power.

And while we are men (women are encouraged to join) full of blustery, macho post-teen sound, our emotions and keyboard pitch are raised by the excitement of a full season and, perhaps, a post-season, of fabulous basketball. Those who thought last year was about 33 wins, don’t understand basketball and Knick fanaticism. That is not an insult. It is simply the orange and blue truth.

Last year was about the fact that after too many years of futility, we started to see the results we desire. The Knicks, once lackadaisical and passionless, now, again, draw out the childish enthusiasm that reminds us of the hope of Knicks past and the resilience of being a New Yorker, whether a native New Yorker, a transplant New Yorker, or someone who couldn’t help but catch that New York spirit. Now the Knicks bring us men who want to perform and play hard and who love the game of basketball. Now Marbury, Crawford, Randolph, Curry, Lee, Balkman, Richardson, Robinson, Jeffries, Morris, Chandler, and Rose belong to us and reflect the passion we feel for this game. And we know, IT will have them ready to play and if they are not ready, they will not play.

Last year was about preparing for the future. The future is here and racing towards us everyday now and our expectations are growing with the possibilities. Now, we are ready to watch and cheer and scream and praise and advise and criticize, together at FIXER nation.

So come on in and put your name on the sign-in sheet. It is time to get your mind straight, your mojo working and to share in the best organic b-ball insights in the world. No rules, just values in this sacred space. Create what you want to see created. Treat others as you want to be treated. Don’t start none, won’t be none. Fight with Knick love, not hateful pleasure. So let it be written, so let it be done.

FIXERS and FIXER wanna-bes, I cannot guarantee you a championship, but I can guarantee you Championship noise at this hallowed spot. This guarantee is certified by the best roll call in the worldwideweb. It’s time to welcome the whole team of nearly 70 FIXERS.

FIXERS

Brother Lives, cooleyhigh present and accounted for, and I know the rest of the crew will chime in. Let the GOOD TIMES ROLL...Thanks Lives for the early AM post.

Starburyfan,

To answer your question regarding my challenge to rush. If you have played ball on all levels (Jr. High to College, AAU YBOA, play in the Puerto Rican Summer. play in Costa Rica)you develop a very healthy respect for the game and the individuals who play the game at the highest level. Why? Because you understand what it takes to play at level and get better at that level to stay at the level. Not every brings the skill-sets of LBJ,KOBE,DWADE, Carmelo, TMac, etc. etc.
Starburyfan, playing bball on that level is like getting in a boxing ring and fighting three rounds with someone that can truly fight and you can't. Quite a helpless feeling.

A true BALLER may talk smack, challenge other players, try to one up another, but never demean a player the way our good brother Rush constantly does. JJ for example, has played bball at the highest on all levels (HS state championship, NCAA Championship Game, Playoffs in the NBA,) and has laced them and went out and tried to guard some of the most talented players in the game. How do you knock that...IT IS SIMPLY CALLED RESPECT STARBURYFAN

Gentlemen,

Collins is for real. I'd start him now, save for that Marbury fellow. Jordan signing may mean that Robinson is on the block and Zeke's restocking the fridge in anticipation of his moving out. Anybody could have given the Clippers cash for the rights to Jordan, why not Sacramento if they wanted him? They have the roster space, and it wouldn't cost them the nuisance of a trade. Nate is the known quantity with the upside you would look for in a rebuilding situtation, Jordan a guy perhaps not ready even for the back up duty - yet. Make sense?

Good morning Fixers,

Before we start bashing this kid, I say we give him a shot. We know that if Isiah can do one thing well...it is spot talent. Who knows, we may be pleasantly surprised as to what this kid brings to the table. My only problem with Jordan, from what I've read about him, is that he's not a good shooter...which is the same flaw that Mardy has. So in that sense, we didn't really upgrade our back PG situation. I don't even mind that he is a defensive liability, but if he can't even shoot, I don't see a reason he would make the team. But let's give him a shot, he can't be much worse of a prospect than Jerome.

The question should be, how good can the kid be in 2 years. The Knicks have a bunch of young studs. If we are players in free agency in 2 seasons. We'll have the cap space & sign & trade assets to force the hand of a team. Kobe always said he wanted the Lakers to get something for him in return. Just play hard and wait. Great pick up.

Orange and Blue present and accounted for,... so is my alter ego (Cloaking device).

Good take, on the value of Jared Jordan to the Kings. Perhaps it will be nate heading out and Jared heading to Europe to hone his game. We'll see during preseason and keep in tune to the comings and goings.

A salute to the fixer nation! Ready for the battles in the East?

Fixers,
As training camp opens I can feel the intensity in the posts. Peaceman & Davonn are back to "Artest Fixation" and "Fantasy Trading", while Cooleyhigh has returned from a "Weekend of Love" challenging folks, (Weddings generally mellow you out). Let's hope the Knicks keep this kind of edge throughout the season.

Regarding Jordan: I have not seen the kid play, but I cannot image the Clippers so desperate for a point guard (Livingston injured), would give up on a player. I'm assuming they did not like what they saw in the rookie league. I doubt if he makes the team, and other then an opportunity for Peaceman to connect him to the 200th Artest trade trade proposal , I do not understand the commotion.

Jordan's Ethnicity: Fixers I do not believe we should fall into the trap of deciding if the individual is wanted or not, based on his ethnicity. Let us not forget the low level that Isola's blog reached, because of his and bloggers fixation w/ race. Remember the old saying, "One of the challenges in OVERCOMING the devil is not BECOMING the devil.

Peace & Blessings

Get READY PEOPLE...Zeke is about to make the big trade..............Kobe is coming. Zeke picked up an extra guard because two smalls( jamal crawford and nate) will be apart of a package along with 2 big( Malik and James. Here HE COMES YALL!!!

sorry but Steph might be in the mix too!!

Legend,
Even Kupchak isn't stupid enough to trade Kobe for Nate, Jamal, Malik and James. Or is he?

Does the following story mean that their might possibly be legs to Post up Prince's contention that Dolan or Zeke may appeal on the basis of prejudice. Article disusses how a "Bronx maintenance man" with strong adverse opinions regarding Thomas's running of the Knicks still got onto the jury despite, the oposition of Thomas's counsel.

My short take, APPEAL, if there is adversity! Why buy us time, and given that the print media really got involved to attempt to shape public opinion plus that their was a potentially adverse juror kept on, and certain testimony that should have been excluded or narrowed, the defenses have a shot at making a case for an appeal.

Lives,
good roll call. you've got the most comprehensive fixer list I've seen yet. AntiNYSportsnews, Vlad and Ewing Curse would make this blog even better, no doubt.

cooleyhigh,
I like your willingness to stick up for Jared Jeffries, I often try to stick up for him on this blog as well. Look no further than Q to see what a difference a year makes in NYC. Q was off his first year with the knicks, yet he came back last season and played very well before the onset of injury.

Thanks for explaining what you meant, I just didn't know where you were coming from with the guaranteed results against a stranger on this blog. As you may have guessed, some of the others on this blog are ballers as well (probably the same ones who value what Jared Jeffries brings to the table). because of that same word, "respect," I just wanted to make sure you didn't presume to be the most qualified or experienced without any empirical data. Considering the travels you have mentioned, you must realize by now you simply don't know who's out there.

I apologize about any insensitivity interpreted in my recent comments regarding Marcus Williams. Any time a young player goes down I'm hoping for the best. I was never as good as Williams but I did tear all of the ligaments in my right ankle playing basketball and despite doctors telling me to stop playing I occasionally re-injure the same reconstructed ankle because I love the game too much to stop playing. I'll trade arthritis in my future for some glory now while I'm young.

I've said it before I think the NBA has too much of an emphasis on weight lifting and it is effecting everybody's ability to stay healthy. It is not because players are slacking or not taking care of their bodies that so many players are getting hurt. It is in a sense the evolution of the game for players like LeBron to come along and have so much size and athleticism, but look at how much injury has taken place in recent years. I guess that's why Isiah is stockpiling so much talent. just wants enough thoroughbreds to sprint to the finish line come April '08.

Willis,
I agree with your assessment of the situation regarding Collins, Nate and Jordan. It looks like they've talked up Nate since summer league, it reminds me of when they talked up Mike Sweetney before sending him over to Chicago. At this moment, Sweetney is not active on an NBA roster. Hopefully everyone in camp gets the same opportunity to make the squad regardless of contracts (Jerome James, Nate, Malik, the rookies) and may the winningest 15 knick combo make the cut.

STATESMAN,
Yeah the odds are against Jordan. But that could work to his advantage too, you know? See what the kid is made out of. See what he can do against the exact opposite kind of guard in the athletic gunner Nate Robinson. I saw that injury to Livingston you mentioned. That was really hard to watch, I feel bad for the kid, hope he can come bounce back because he was doing a good job in the league up until that drive to the basket.

O&B: Appeal? the trial's not over yet, is it?

Legend: Kobe? I thought the rumors were for Artest? That'd be more unbelievable than LJ's four point play, trent tucker's 3 over chicago, D Lee's reverse tip in against charlotte, and the knicks winning the first lottery combined! not saying it is an impossibility, just that if it went down, it would overshadow all of those unlikely moments in knicks history.

Starburyfan: Trials still in deliberation. I was just trying ot add to something Post Up Prince said regarding what the Dolan/Thomas defense might do in the instance of an adverse judgment. I'm still thinking Thomas will come out unscathed. Sorry for raising the alarm bell to high but I just wanted to get some info out regarding the partisan juror that's all.

Seems I've made Alan's Job tough with Hoopsworlds story about Artest and Bibby! Sorry about the Pipe you busted while revamping your Kitchen! lol Peaceman here ready for war! Also My TV is tuned to NY 1 awaiting the verdict!

O.K Legend

What is your source? Show me a link or something.

As far as Bibby and Artest, maybe heading south.

Sorry about the ledgend handle, he's a great blogger, I used that for a joke post on the other now dead blog

no big deal but the Clippers seem to have preferred Dan Dickau to Jared Jordan. I'm surprised we couldn't have traded for a future second round pick or something. We had to buy out Dickau and now we have to sign Jared Jordan. Everybody in the league knows dolan will pay, they kind of expect dolan to pay. maybe its that $2 millon we gave each team recently due to the luxury tax.

D L T Knicks
That was not Ledgends post, it was me. Read hoopsworld.com and the disscussion I heard cannot be repeated at this time because the people who mentioned it were Medical!

Why didn't we trade Dickau the Clippers may want him!

DLT Knicks
go to Starburys link. Scroll down to Jared Jordon, The article states that this move makes no sense and it could be that Thomas has another move to make! Think so?

Who would the Heat offer to land either Artest or Bibby? I figure we have more to offer the Kings with the assets we've compiled and the addition of adding lottery protected picks to sweeten the deal. What are they stupid? They can have Bibby but leave Artest alone. I hate the heat, I hope they decompose,...

Interesting read. It sucks to lose a trade asset for nothing.

DLT Knicks:
thanks for the link. I had no idea the clippers got the talented, yet often-injured brevin knight. I guess it's felton's show to run now in charlotte. you know that MJ must believe in him since they're both tarheels.

Peaceman

I will make my "peace" with you.Just ready for something BIG to happen...if it's gonna.

Maybe in Chicago

Statesman
I know it raises your hair for me to continue to lobby for Artest! However, with his megar salary and my sincere belief deep in my heart that he will lead us to a title, leaves me no choice but to continue to lobby for him to come home. If the Clippers sign Dickau, won't they owe us a favor? Isn't Elton B hurt? This is pure speculation but couldn't they use Jerome James? Something thats out of the ordinary is going on here with the Dickau/Jordan senario! Somethings up! Or are we just plain stupid?

Peaceman

I just think if Zeke wanted to include JJordan in a trade, he would have moved on it sooner. As of now he has to wait the 30/60 days before he can trade JJordan again.

Who says it has to be Jordan to be traded? Someone has to collect splinters!

You got a point! I know the Kings like N8 let's add Rose's expiring contract, JJeferies(who they barked at the last offer). Don't want to give up Fred Jones.

Hey guys,

In order for a trade to work, the money has to match. Jared Jordan is a 2nd rd pick and is unsigned. Dickau is a 5 yr vet and makes (I think) $2.5 mill.

A 2nd rounder makes the league minimum. So Isiah could not work out a trade one-for-one. This way he buys out Dickau's current contract (and Dickau gets his year's salary up front) and by league rules whichever team signs him pays the balance of his contract.

To put it another way:

*Knicks buy out Dickau this week and pay him $2.5 million.
*Clippers re-sign Dickau to a (hypothetically speaking) one year deal worth $1 million dollars

But instead of Dickau making $3.5 million dollars ...what happens is that the Knicks end up paying $1.5 million while the Clips pay him the $1 million(which ads up to $2.5 for Dickau).

Its just another way to make a trade when the money doesn't match up.

Get it? I'm confused just thinking about it imagine trying to explain it.

BARF:

Thanks for the Knowledge,... I learned something new here alot of times.

I'm takeing bets now and giving 100 to 1 odds that you won't see Jared Jordan in the rookie challenge!
