Viva Las Vegas
On the road again...
I just checked weather.com, as I always do before packing for a road trip. Let's see, 115 degrees in Las Vegas. 80 at night.
Thank God for Dri-fits and Under Armours. I'm gonna need plenty of em.

The Knicks released their 14-man roster for the Vegas summer league, which is why I'm going to Sin City in the midst of a heat wave. Word is, we can expect to see several veterans in Vegas other than the guys who will be playing in the games. Zach Randolph already said he planned on going and it is possible Eddy Curry will be there, as well, to work with Mark Aguirre and Herb Williams (it's never too early to get these two on the same page down low).
Will Ron Artest join them? Don't count on it. If anything is to happen with Artest, my guess is it won't be until later in the summer.
Here's a list of players on the summer league team:
(veterans and draftees first)
Renaldo Balkman
Mardy Collins
Wilson Chandler
Randolph Morris
Demetris Nichols
Nate Robinson (Note: I'm extremely pleased to see his name on the roster)
(unsigned rookie free agents and where they played last season)
G Ali Beridel -- 6-6 Valparaiso (Belgium)
C Alex Bougaieff -- 6-11 Rice (France)
G/F Brian Greene -- 6-7 Colorado State (France)
G Olu Famutimi -- 6-4 Arkansas (NBADL)
F Dylan Page -- 6-9 Wisconsin-Milwaukee (Spain)
G Tre Simmons -- 6-5 Washington (ULEB)
G Kelvin Torbert -- 6-4 Michigan State (Belgium)
G Roderick Wilmont -- 6-4 Indiana
The Knicks will play a five-game schedule starting Monday night against Kevin Durant and the Seattle SuperSonics. Four of the games will be broadcast live on MSG Network, with Gus Johnson and Walt "Clyde" Frazier working the microphones.
The Schedule:
Monday, July 9 - Seattle - MSG 10 p.m. (Eastern)
Tuesday, July 10 - China - No TV
Thurs., July 12 - Sacramento - MSG 10 p.m. (Eastern)
Sat., July 14 - Golden State - MSG 10 p.m. (Eastern)
Sun., July 15 - Denver -- MSG 6 p.m. (Eastern)
Assistant coach Dave Hanners will run the bench for the Knicks, who will hold a three-day minicamp starting Friday and ending Sunday.
I'll be blogging from Vegas starting this weekend, after the first practice that is open to the media. On Friday I'll be traveling so you guys are on your own until then!

Alan, do you know when the Knicks have to cut their roster down to the NBA limit of 15? Is it before the season opens in early November? Can they accumulate players until that point?
Gus and Clyde on the mic? Wow. What a joy. Just to hear a Knicks game without having to hear Breen would brighten my day. Can't wait.
David - The Knicks have until the day before the season opener to adjust their roster to 15. So they can go through training camp over the limit. Which is why no one should hold their breath when it comes to another trade, i.e.: Artest.
I'll blog tomorrow. Just got into Vegas. Holes are already burning in my pockets.
whats up dude. Blog already. The anticipation is killing me
I just wanted to let you guys know that Tierney and Max Kellerman of espn both said on espn radio that reliable sources told them that the knicks will not include Lee in a trade for artest.
