We go into battle with these guys just looking to win one at a time. Hopefully, the Rays won't have their track shoes on because as Ken Singleton said yesterday, " the basepaths look like a carrousel with the runners going around and around.

Take a look at the lineup, I try to imagine the changes to it next year. What approach the GM will take to bring youth and not just winning baseball back to the stadium but a team that can perform at a high level.

Hey my Yankee friends...
Guess what?

I'M ROOTING FOR THE YANKEES TONIGHT!
It's big picture time... and time to hold my nose.

Truth be told I am not rooting for the Yankees to win
I am rooting for the Rays to lose

I still want that division and home field in the first round
And 6 back in the loss column is a lot to make up

Larry,

I've said it about a dozen times so I'm sorry if I sound like a broken record - but my biggest fear is that Cashman goes the conservative route this winter and just brings back Abreu, Giambi, Moose, and Andy while using lines like "these guys have proven records in New York" and "We have a plan for the long term future of the Yankees and I'm not going to let a down year jeapordize it" and "while it's no excuse we were beset by injuries, if we have the same squad healthy we're right in it."

Sully,

Who would have thought that the Yankees would be in the role of spoiler.

Chip: No one in their right mind even Cashman could go conservative with this lineup. Yeah, I could stay with Abreu, Jeter, Cano, Posada, Damon,Wang and Pettitte of the old guard but not to get younger and more athletic would be a terrible, terrible mistake.

Most Yankee fans who truly follow the Yankees know the issues and would correct if posssible. So, Cashman knows this market and knows that he was a given a by year. But 2009 must show improvement with the playoffs a very distinct possibility not just being mathematically possible BS.

I would even submit Cano for the right piece of the puzzle. Hughes and Kennedy have not secured anything in my eyes and are tradeable this year but their value is down from last winter. I expect the yankees do be big time active at least I hope so.
