Manny trade: Good or bad for the Red Sox?

The Final Score boys weigh in here.

Bad for the short term, probably good for the long term just based on Bay's character. However, you don't replace someone who is perhaps the best RH hitter to play the game in the last 40 years that easily.
All I can say is things must have been really bad in the clubhouse if the rumor that the Boston management polled the players to see if they should hold on to Manny or trade him and the vote came back in unanimous favor of trading him. I find that hard to believe, but I don't know all that is/was going on in that clubhouse.

Boston still has a solid line up. Pedroia, Youkilis, Lowell, Ortiz, Drew and now Bay. I think Boston fans are going to like this guy.

Besides, it won't matter a lick what happens up there if we can't beat the Angels down here.

Gammons, aka Icabod Crane, is trying to help spin this as a positive for the Bosox, and I do believe the majority of the players probably didn't care if he went but do not try to tell knowledgeable baseball fans that this does not severely weaken them. Bay is a above average player with 11 game winning hits this year, but good righty pitching will control him. You only got Manny out when he guessed wrong. Utter nonsense. Bosox will stay in contention because of their superior starting pitching and clutch players like Pedroia, Puke-ilis, and Lowell. Their bullpen isn't that good. Yanks will catch them.

Boo Hoo, Gerty is cryin' in her beer!

Lets Go Yankees! Gotta win one somewhere, somehow.

Spirit: I think that you've been smoking too much peace pipe.

Spirit,
The Yankees will haunt you forever. With their history and ownership they will always be around competing and in the thick of things. No matter what team you root for they will never be able to compare to the Yankees. Deal with it !!!
