Here's the Yankees lineup for tonight's game. As promised yesterday, Jorge Posada is back behind the plate.
Also of note, the Yankees signed left-handed pitcher Eric Milton to a minor league deal. He is being assigned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but will be placed on the disabled list. Milton, 32, was 0-4 with a 5.17 ERA in six starts for Cincinnati last year. He went on the DL in May, though, and wound up having season-ending ligament replacement "Tommy John" surgery in June. He is still recovering from that.

Lot's of talk about bringing a RH power hitter onto the squad who strikes out a lot and plays a decent 1st base. (Sexson).
I don't buy into that logic. It just doesn't fit in Yankee Stadium. Where RH power hitters lose XX amount of Home Runs per year.in left center and center.
If the idea is to bolster this anemic lineup, then a LH power hitter who walks a lot makes more sense.
And you know who I am talking about.
But then again....The House that Babe Built but Barry Tore Down?
I don't know.
Isle,
I said almost the exact same words about the prospect of Sexson joining the Yankees and one more shutout will drive me to agree with you about bringing in that lefty slugger.
Jim and 505.
I'm not sure where there's any downside to bringing in Sexson. Last night he would have started in place of Wilson Betemit. The day before he may have started at first and then Jose Molina's bat would be on the bench. Sexson may not hit for any more average than those two, but when he makes contact the ball will have a better chance of leaving the park.
On another note, here's a little something from Ken Rosenthal on Brett Gardner:
Ask Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner to name his favorite player growing up, and he gives an unusual response:
Pete Rose.
Not that Rose isn't worthy of emulation, but his final season was 1986 — the year that Gardner turned 3.
Gardner, though, says he admired Rose's passion, and tries to play with the same verve.
"It doesn't matter if I hit a groundball to the pitcher, I'm going to run 3.9 or 4 flat to first," he says.
Yankees officials say that Gardner and Class AA reliever Mark Melancon possess "Derek Jeter makeup" — the ultimate compliment within the organization.
Chip,
That's a big reason why there's a lot to like about these kids. Not necessarily the Jeter reference, but the fact that they come ready to play hard every single day.
And it's why I'm rooting for Gardner to take over for Melky when Damon comes back. It would be nice to see him start hitting, though - not that the rest of the lineup is going to do their part by driving him in.
Gardner could be your guys answer to Ellsbury
Guys, if Sexson clears waivers today, he'll cost under $200k for the rest of the season. Even with horrible year he's having, he's still hitting over .340 vs. lefties. Just having him sitting on the bench as a deterrent against late inning lefties would be a big help to Joe.
Well, there you go, Chip. Another good reason not to trade Melancon for Fuentes. Fuentes, by the way, said yesterday that of all the teams he's been rumored to go to, he'd prefer the Yanks. He's also a FA this year. But lefty set-up guys are getting what these days, $4m a year?
DC - $4 mil a year? You're lowballing him. Farnsworth and Scott Linebrink got over $5 mil per.
Sully - I'm not sure he has the pop of Ellsbury, more likely Juan Pierre.
