I was at Cabrera's last outing against the Blue Jays last Thursday and he was gone early with a 6 run deficit. Let's hope he pitches the same way tonight, but he is usually tough on our Yanks.
I'm surprised to see Nady sitting already as the bottom of that order won't exactly have the O's quaking in their cleats.
Funky?
Eh, when you've had 2 clunkers in a row a mild shakeup is not a bad thing.
I like the idea of Moeller catching tonight.....sometimes when the pitching has been bad (okay MISERABLE) for a coupla games, switching catchers can simply be a needed psychological change.
Not sure about sitting Nady though..especially coming off of his 1st hit/HR last night.
There is a rumor floating that has the Red Sox making the following moves:
Manny and cash to LA Dodgers for Matt Kemp
Coco Crisp and Kevin Youkalis to Atlanta for Mark Teixeira
I don't believe the Manny trade speculation at all.
There's no way the Red Sox are going to trade him in the middle of a pennant race when he means so much to that offense.
Chip,
No way on the Youk move, there is no way the Sox would risk losing Youk when they're not sure they could sign Tex. You can never say never I guess but I would be drop-jaw shocked at that move.
I saw the Manny rumor earlier and my feeling is the Sox are better with Manny than without and they won't pull the trigger on a trade.
Chip, those rumors sound like they have some substance to them. This would make the Bosox very dangerous.
Lets see if Epstein has the guts to make these moves.
I don't think he will. Losing Manny and Puke-ilis would destroy their offense.
Of course I am hoping he believes that....
I was thinking it might not be too far-fetched to believe Yanks wind up with Tex after all. Atlanta is saying they don't necessarily need a 1st baseman back in the deal. Who thinks a deal including Melky, Kennedy, Miranda, and another minor league pitcher gets this done - as long as Yanks are granted a window to negotiate an extension on Tex's contract. It just might be in the works. If Cashman pulls something like this off......he should go in the Hall of Fame!
Keep hopin' my fellow Yankee fans!
Lets Go Tex! Come to Yankeeland......
Teixeira is a Boras client.
There's no way he doesn't become a free agent no matter where's he's traded.
Besides, the Yanks have a guy named Posada on their team who may not be able to catch everyday next season.
With Matsui as the everyday DH, Posada would have to play somewhere and 1B would seem like the only other alternative.
Just heard on Kay's show that Anaheim got Texeira for Kotchman. Not sure who else was included in that deal.
Matsui could get traded and Posada could be given more time to rehab the shoulder but....as always - Viper is on point.
The most important fact is the one you reminded me of (my memory is not working) - Tex is a Boras client. You are right, there is no way is he gonna allow the Yankees to call any shots with him. Guess there will be no Tex in NY for now. Thanks for the "wake up" call.
Come on Rasner - gotta pitch to keep your spot! Go get 'em!
Lets Go Yankees! (and Jays and yuck - Angels)
FYI - Mark Tex has been traded to the Angels...just thought everyone should know.
OOps,,,sorry, just read the previous posts about it. Dont worry, this doesnt affect next year, Boras will get a min of 7 @ 140.
The Angels sent back Kotchman and a minor league pitcher Steven Marek
So in my mind, this trade couldn't come at a worse time. Yankees have 10 games left with the Angels and with this trade they are easily the best team in the American League - and even when they're not they give the Yankees fits.
Figgins
Izturis
Vlad
Tex
Hunter
Anderson
Kendrick
Rivera
Mathis
This is terrible for the Yanks. The addition of Tex to a team that was already loaded with talent and playing at a high level is huge. Kotchan was playing well for the Angels but he wasn't hitting for power and Tex is.
I think I will leave the country on Thursday through Sunday so I don't have to witness what the Angels may do to our boys.
This sucks!
Posada will not be Just handed the 1b job. Our 1b prospect is doing well and there other options out there before they just hand him the job. plus he will have to prove himself fit.
This was the issue that BC had with giving Jorge that contract.
They may have to take a look at Pudge
Yanks have a prospect at 1B?
