Offense is offensive

I wrote yesterday about how the Yankees offense had been really bad, and that at some point , it's not just about giving credit to the opposing pitcher. Last night, though, it was about giving credit to the opposing pitcher. Roy Halladay was awesome.

You can read our All-Star special section online. Here's the link to the section itself.

A lot of people contributed to this. Ken Davidoff has a ton of stories in here. My contribution is a story on Mariano Rivera.

Today, it's the Yankees' and Darrell Rasner opposite the Blue Jays and Jesse Litsch. Chad Moeller worked well with Rasner earlier in the season, and is starting at catcher for the first time in a long time.

WTF is going on with this sorry bunch of overpaid slackers??? We have the "GREATEST PLAYER" to ever play the game batting cleanup!!! We have Allstar caliber players like Jeter, Abreu, Giambi, Posada, and Cano batting before and after him!!! There's no excuse whatsoever for this type of anemic offense. Sure, maybe it's not a lineup that will score 1000 runs/year, but there is no excuse for this group to be averaging 1.5 runs per game!!!!

And now, I'm reading stories in the papers that include names like Igawa, Pavano and SEXSON as the remedies for the problem!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! What a crock of unbelievable nonsense!!!! If Sexson is brought in here to fix the offense, that will be the last straw of ignorance for me. Cashman should be canned if he pulls that ridiculous stunt!!!!

12:34 comment was mine.

I know it's a day game after a night game and all, but this inability on the part of Jorge Posada to catch two days in a row is frustrating the heck out of me. Look, if Jorge can't catch fine. But Cashman has to go out and find a better option than Chad Moeller or Jose Molina (offensively) to play on an every day basis. Whether that's Rod Barajas, John Buck, or Kelly Shoppach. I hate to say it, but at this point if I'm Cashman I put in a call and see how serious Mike Piazza is about being retired. He may stink defensively but at least he won't be a void in the lineup.

The bottom third of the Yankee lineup today is pathetic - that's essentially 3 INNINGS that the Yankees are sacrificing offensively.

Rick - once again going overboard I see. Sexson would not be brought in as a CURE, he's being looked at as an upgrade over Wilson Betemit for a right handed bat at first base. There is no risk to signing him, no downside whatsoever. The Yankees would be giving up no prospects, almost no cash either.

Oh, and Rick - I'm not going to defend the Yankee offense - but considering that early in the season they were without Alex and Posada and now they're without Damon and Matsui, it's not exactly as if they've been playing with all hands on deck.

By the way...am I still clueless for calling Shapiro a fool for putting Cleveland's hopes in the arms of Joe Borowski and Paul Byrd? And how's your boy Lilly doing...ERA close to 5 last I looked.

Cashman's going no where - you don't like it, buy a Cubs hat.

Stand By Mode, Again, what a sorryLive Blog this has become. Jenn just called me, and we are ALL welcome to the Mets Beat for their game at 3:30. Found out that someone has two All Star game tixx...Islander1955@aol.com.

Mariano has 3 SONS ages 14, 11 and 5. Is anybody thinking what I'm thinking?

The Yankees should draft the 14 year old now with a 42nd round pick and give him a $5,000 signing bonus.
