Melky gets a rest after Hank's call for a wakeup

Today it is Melky Cabrera;s turn to sit. Joe Girardi, who didn't have Cabrera bunt in the ninth last night and saw his slumping centerfielder hit into a double play, said he just wants to give Cabrera a day off (the same opportunity that Derek Jeter had last night).

But it is clear that the Yankees need a jolt--and if they hadn't been aware, Hank Steinbrenner told the Associated Press today that the offense needs to "wake up,"--and Cabrera has not been giving it to them. So Brett Gardner (hitless as a major leaguer so far) is starting for the third straight game, only this time in centerfield

The lineup that I heard on Kay's show had Molina in and Posada out.
